Stinger looks too much like a prior Optima, IMO. Nice spec sheet, but I don't see this one being a blinding success. Might be a good used deal in a few years.

A local dealer is still trying for a 10K ADM on their loaded model - good luck, all I can say is LOL

Grey Tesla Model 3 today. Looks tidy, but the color was pretty bleh on a gray day. But they're getting delivered.

But, at not anything approaching the rate that was originally forecast.

A friend of mine spotted this tasteful classy subtle thing today, and sent a pic:

In a nice part of Manhattan, so it makes sense. FIRE industry go-getter, old money trust funder, or offshore money launderer, take your pick from the list of boostrapping vocations.

Went to the Tesla dealer to play with the Model 3 but didn't drive it. Just got a quick demo of features in the parking lot.

I totally hated the driver interface screen. I would get so annoyed driving this car that I'd probably take an ax to it before I got ten blocks to enjoy the rest of it. Having to use + and - on the screen to adjust fan speed? Really? Directional indicators in the middle of the dashboard? Really?

The dash is completely empty. It's a very spartan environment, to say the least.

You know, sometimes "different' isn't "better".

Perfect car for people who find playing with an iPad more fun than driving.

    @ab348,
After reading the battery story, I spent a lot of time reading the Bullitt article and comments.
BTW my picture is from my favorite part of that movie.

The comments on that site usually get a F grade. On that article I give the comments a C- because there are a few that I can agree with.

Did you read /watch the CNET review of the Model 3? It started off with this line:

"the most anticipated vehicle of all time".

Either I need to get out more, or they do.

Shoot, I anticipated the $100,000 dollar Dodge Demon more than the Model 3.

I would never buy one for fear of being out-raced by a reliable Prius as my Demon has some type of disabling malfunction. Of course, a demon might be faster than a Prius in LIMP mode.

My Neon didn't have a LIMP mode, that I know of, perhaps it needed one!

I saw one of those Subaru SVX's with the funny glass today. White paint with brassy/goldish rims.

not sure what year, but merging onto the PA turnpike, a snazzy red Nissan GTR. Sounded good going by.

A Kia Niro, also on the highway. Nie looking in person.

And parked at the supermarket, an Alfa Stelvia

Saw a Velar today. Haven't seen as many as I once thought, Lexus RX rules that roost here.

Surprisingly, the Velar is way too expensive for what you get. May be out of the budget for the Stepford wife set in the Pacific NW.

Budgets can be insane here, I think the Model X is still the ne plus ultra of Stepfordmobiles, along with maybe a top spec Range Rover. Maybe they like the Evoque if they want that kind of thing, although that seems like a spoiled co-ed kind of vehicle. One can't turn around without seeing a new style RX here.

I haven't noticed one, but I haven't studied it. I assume it is mostly a rear quarter proportion difference, not sure if they have a badge. When they arrive, I know I will see one. They are seriously everywhere here, and the dealer is just several blocks from where I live.

I mention the lack of Velar yesterday, what do I see today - another Velar.

Pretty pricey at...what.....$75K ? Very nice vehicle, but don't keep it past the warranty period.

They start in the high 50's, but can go to almost $90K, depending on trim and options

    90K, I'd rather get a nice CPO AMG G-Wagen.

There's something off about the rear quarter view of the Velar. I'd rather have the big boy Range Rover.

After test riding in one, I would agree with you. The Velar is pretty tight in the rear seat.

Saw a Rolls-Royce Wraith coupe in traffic today - might not be brand new, but uncommon. Also saw that the local Jag/Land Rover dealer has a MB Metris shuttle van.

    Saw a Model 3 today. It's a car.

I might have seen two, but I suspect I saw the same car twice (dark blue grey kind of color, dark wheels).

and the stock price soared. Because sales and gross revenue went up a bunch.

We lose money with every sale, but make up for it with volume.

Ah, I see. Lose money on every individual sale but make it all up in volume! Of course, how stupid of me not to see that. :p

I wonder how these EV batteries will hold up over time in extremely cold or hot climates?
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,601
Was at Costco yesterday, and the "new car" on display was an Infiniti QX50. With the Lexus LS finally updated, is this the oldest new car still in production? I think it dates back to MY 2007.

Could well be. Just saw one this morning in the parking lot.

Edit - what about the Lexus GX 470?

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,601
I think the current GX was a MY 2010 debut, definitely an oldie now.

A Honda Civic Type R parked right near my house. Naturally I called the police. :p

I gotta say, in that long row of somewhat anonymous SUVs and sedans, it certainly jumps out at you.

Well the QX50 is basically new. New underpinnings courtesy of MB). New engine with first-ever variable compression ratio.

That's the 2019 model, not at dealers yet (at least near me, they only have 2017 models). I guess they're skipping 2018.

Not new, but a shiny, black Caddy ELR. Good looking car, maybe they could revive/re-price it with a performance-oriented engine and call it a CTS Coupe?

The 2019 QX50 has a spring 2018 release planned so yeah, skipping 2018. But coming soon.

The Electric/Hybrid Cimarron? Man, Cadillac had their nerve putting that price tag on that thing.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,601
You can easily find ELRs for under 25K now.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
They were like..what?....$70K when new? All you got was a Volt with nicer upholstery.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,601
And brash kind of cool styling, to be fair.
