I'm seeing so many around here (Long Island and NYC) that it's not worth noting anymore which is good for Hyundia. I think that they've got a hit on their hands.

I saw a Mercury Montego this morning. Being that they sell about 4 x as many 500s, that's pretty unusual. I know that the differences are slight, but I think that the Montego is much better looking.

I like Mercury's corporate grill and that girl in the commercials isn't bad either ;-)

I think Hyundai selling some Sonata's to rental fleets so you don;t truly know if they have a true hit on their hands. I usually look to see if the licsence plate on te car has dealer advertsising on it because I think cars that actual people buy are real sales to real people and not rental car companies.

Oh yeah I seen a new Sonata with new car dealer tags yesterday, also seen a new Honda CR-v(gold color) and VW Jetta with new car dealer tags on them. Even with a car that looks like a Corolla those Jetta's are still selling like mad around NJ.

VERY odd ... I was coming off of a cruise ship in Tampa, FL today and couldn't help but notice a silver-colored Mercedes with a Massachusetts American-flag-style license plate (I live in Boston). It did say "CLS60" on the back, and "biturbo v-12". I'm with BGill, I'm POSITIVE it said CLS60, but can find nothing about this car on the web. Poseur, perhaps? Hey BGill, was the one you saw silver with an American-flag Mass plate on it?
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,414
Kleeman badges its tuned cars like that...but I don't think they make a "60" version, although there is a CLS50...

I don't know if a V12 would be too tight a fit for that platform...it's either a frankenstein car someone made with a real V12, or a rebadging.

Saw a nice, beige-gold-y Volvo XC90. Not the best colour, but looked very smart and clean. Definitely one of the nicer SUVs out there.

Also saw a big, bad, black Cayenne with big chrome rims. Interesting....

I was running around all day yesterday and saw:

    - Mercury Milan - It was parked so I was able to check it out. It's looks well made but I think the 500 is better looking. I think that the dash cluster looks too upright and close in on you.
    - Ford 500
    - VW Passat - The rear quarters may look too elongated and slab sided
    - Buick Lucerne
    - VW Jetta - with a big dent on the back door. Ouch!! It sucks when a new car doesn't make it a year without getting hit
    - Isuzu Axiom - not new but definately an unusual sighting. How many of those do you see but they're really good looking.
    - The Lincoln Truck based on the F150. What's it called?

"The Lincoln Truck based on the F150. What's it called? "

You mean the Mark LT. IMO it's a very handsome truck, no doubt about that - but what was Lincoln thinking when they made it??? Now that the new 403hp, six speed Escalade EXT is here, the Mark LT has no chance of competing. As an indication of how dead the Mark LT is to people, look at the Mark LT message board on edmunds. 189 posts, the last one made almost a month ago!

I give the Mark LT two years. By 2008 I'm sure Lincoln would have phased it out.

Today I finally saw a new S class...sitting outside at the dealer. It's not as bad in some ways as I expected....but I do hate the rear end, and the dash is weird. I took some pics of it with my phone, but they don't want to send to my comp. Maybe later.

As well, I spotted a Porsche Cayman at the adjacent Porsche lot.

I also saw another Lucerne - this one kind of a candy apple red, and it appeared to be a private car. I thought it was a Passat from a distance. These seem to be doing OK here, which is somewhat surprising.

That rear end just screams "Acura RL"...

Not offensive.. just sort of generic, IMO....

From the back, they look very similar.

I also saw the new Suzuki 4 X 4. It's pretty good looking.

I spotted a Maserati Quattroporte in a parking lot today. The parking lot of an exclusive country club? The parking lot of a five-star restaurant? No, it was in the parking lot of a local Target store. What'll be next, a Veyron at Wal-Mart?
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,675
Is it rainy or foggy there? Seems to be a haze.

The rear is Avalonesque. The shape of the rear side windows adds to that. Maybe the trunk shaping on top is like the 745Li I saw couple days ago-saw two within a mile of each other. Rare in that part of city.

It's damp here, and the phone camera tends to be a little hazy.

I think the rear profile of that car is really BMW-esque, and I don't mean that in a nice way.
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,675
I should have put a grin face after the rain fog comment!

Hey, our rainy streak ended at 27 days here.

I've seen many new Impalas lately, but mostly rentals. I don't know how to manage the fleet sales issue, but there has to be a better way. It really cheapens the image.

two days ago a silver Bentley Arnage on some fat tires with dubs.

And today, two restyled Honda Accords, in silver and beige. Also a white Sonata and silver Porsche Carrera S.

Saw a Flying Spur in black about a week ago at a gas station. The car definitely has presence.

Also saw two Azeras w/in the last two days, conservative maybe but nice looking nonetheless. One was black and the other beige.

In a garage (while picking up my daughter from a friends house).

A newish Range Rover (the big one) next to a new CLS500 Merc (the swoopy one). The house was nice too.

I must live on the wrong side of town, with my matching set of '05 hondas!

Alot of people could do worse than to have two new Hondas.
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
Which other Honda do you own? Your profile only lists a Scion tc and Honda Odyssey.

Lol, you must be doing good to have two new cars.
  • chidorochidoro Member Posts: 125
I just saw the car that reminded me of the Azera, it looks very familiar to the Audi A6. That's a good thing to be sure.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,335
I got an Accord EX-L 5 speed to replace the Scion. Not as stylish (not that I am either..), but a whole lot more comfortable, and much more practical for family/kid duty. My 2 kids really appreciate having their own doors again, and some room to stretch out, windows that roll down, and a view of the outside world.'

I will go back to something sporty when they are out of the house (and my car!)

I even updated my profile since you mentioned it. Boy, was that out of date.

Anyway good luck and happy driving with your Accord. :)

...silver Acura TL...smashed head-on into a precariously leaning utility pole! Several police cars were in attendance. I wonder if it was stolen?

I don't know how to manage the fleet sales issue, but there has to be a better way.

The best way is to simply forbid fleet sales until the 4th year of production (rental places can just buy from the dealer like everyone else), but GM and Ford need those basement bomber runs to prop up their volume.

Or keep selling them the previous version like the Malibu did when the New Version came out.

a light blue Hyundai Azera, my third one so far and my first not in white.

Also a white Hyundai Sonata and a black Porsche Carrera S.Then three restyled Grand Marquis, two in black, one in silver all on the same stretch of road within a minute.

I'm also seeing several restyled Land Cruisers, I think two today.

While waiting for the train to come in, I noticed that a couple of my fellow commuters sprung for new rides.

    - One got a new Ford Fusion in black. It looks to be a fairly loaded car with alloys, leather and moonroof. As long as you get the fog lights, it's a pretty sharp car. The paint looks good for what it is.

    - Someone else got an Impala. This is a more basic car with cloth interior and plastic wheel covers. It's not much to look at but I didn't get close enough to make a judgement on build quality.

The train station is an interesting place for car watching. You get all types there. There are alot of bona fide station cars that are 15 years or older. One old timer drives a clean powder blue 70s Granada and someone else drives a well preserved white 79 to 81 Trans Am with all decals intact. Someone else drive a little Triump convertible there everyday. On top of those there are some serious beaters. It's not the fanciest town that I live in, but some others have some nice rides such as a black Escalade that's never dirty and a very nice last gen BMW 5.
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
Mercedes M Class in beige, one in the morning and then on in the evening in the same color. Not sure if it's a 350 or 500.

Also a black restyled Grand Marquis.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,414
Not a bad day today....I saw a nice Bentley GT with borderline tasteful semi-blingy wheels, and the sighting of the day, a Porsche Carrera GT. That's one you can spot from a long way off, it's unlike anything on the road.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,335
at work with a temp tag.

Not notable by itself (although it might be the first in the parking lot), but this one had a leather interior.

Actually looked very nice, even factory installed quality. It was even perforated (I think) and looked like it came right out of a TSX.

WOnder how much that cost to do?

I've seen three more Caymans yesterday and today.

2 of them were driven out of a small residential side street near my place, one yesterday and one today. Maybe a dealer lives there.

Ooh, a new style Maserati coupe just drove by
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
There are now 2 of these in my garage at work, the more recent one an XT (turbo). I wonder if I know the owner.

Saw a Wagoneer and a Tribeca yesterday.

three Suzuki Grand Vitaras, one in beige, the other in gray and the last one in red. Red looks really nice on this car.

Also two Hyundai Sonatas, in silver and bluish green.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Saw a new Civic coupe yesterday.

Then a new Bentley sedan, boy do those have presence.

...saw silver, black, and red G-6s past few days. They are getting to be pretty common around here. No, they didn't have little green and white "e" stickers!
  • gussguss Member Posts: 1,167
I was behind one at a traffic light. Definitely a very different tail light setup. I liked it though.

I have a Mazda6 and it was noticeably wider.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I saw my first on the roads yesterday, also.

Too bad the 3.5l wasn't ready for that car, there's quite a price spread for cars using that 3.0l engine.

Computer trouble prevented me from getting online during the past couple of weeks.

Fintail, I don't know if Vancouver is a leader in Mercedes Benz sales but I see a lot of the newest Benzes out here when they first come out on the market because of a lot of Hong Kong and China money.

I see the R Class on a daily basis, Beemers M3 and 7 Series every day as well.

And surprisingly since the Ford 500 came out I maybe have seen 2 on the road. Not a big seller for Ford.

Thanks. I know Van was some kind of per capita or volume leader back when I was there more, around the end of the 90s. I always called the bugeye/W210 E-class the "Vancouver Accord" because they were so plentiful.

Here on the eastside (of the Seattle area) I am seeing R class daily, too, and CLS maybe every other day as well. I am still surprised at all the current SLs I see here...I see them almost every day. MB must sell them all in CA and WA.

I have seen a LOT of these recently. they have exploded around New York. It makes sense really, one or two months after the biggest wall street bonus season ever + a great looking but not over flashy car that is fast as #$%*! but holds four people and your golf clubs= a lot of Spurs. I even overheard a guy at a restaurant bragging to his date about the one he had on order (with a royal blue interior... bizarre) so I guess there is one more coming.
