...a new Cadillac DTS in an unusual silverish green.
  • 210delray210delray Member Posts: 4,721
Still an eye-catcher! Too bad it's not too practical, overweight, and most of all, overpriced.

Just think how many GM could have sold if it were priced like the Solstice!

Two mazda 5's on two different days, one white and one silver. A lot more narrow than I was expecting.

I also saw a lincoln zephyr. Looks great from most angles but awful from the back. Look s as if it would be pretty agile

I saw a new silver STS today...with a black carriage roof. Uugh

I was in California (bay area and high sierras) last week and I had some good sightings.

2007 Escalade, not a great look but I liked it. It has a vaery differnt feel than the previouos generation

New S-Class, again not a great view but it looked better than it does in pictures.

Cheating but in the Redwood City Ferrari dealership (largest in the world I hear) They had a Black SuperAmerica with the roof flipped up. Pretty cool, and rare

Finally and best, the new M5 roared away from a light right in front of me. Awesome exhaust note!

Other than that I was shocked at the amount of huge suvs that I saw at Mammoth Lakes. I'm talking jacked up excursions everywhere, nothing smaller than a tahoe. Now this makes some sense in a town that has had over 13 feet of snow so far this year but the interesting thing was that every single person I talked to was from Southern california (L.A. and the O.c.) Are these people really that clueless? are they really driving these things around down there as well?

New black S550 this morning...I can almost deal with most of the exterior.

...red Saturn Sky - the first one I've seen in the "wild."
  • prosaprosa Member Posts: 280
I parked next to one at Target yesterday. Not a bad-looking car by any means, more tasteful than the Fusion IMO, though smaller than I would have thought. Milans and Fusions are still an uncommon sight in my area.
  • mack9mack9 Member Posts: 15
saw a 2004 (possibly) Impala with those ugly silver vinyl roofs like those old Buicks and Caddys used to have them and it was so dirty it was black!
  • mack9mack9 Member Posts: 15
I saw a Caliber on the roads on the Interstate 90 and it was travelling oh so fast and the sun was shining so it looked marvelous basking in the sun. It look so nice but I think it was a Caliber SE the base model with the black stuff on the exterior.
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
sage green Toyota Avalon, beige Hummer H3 and a silver Kia Sedona.

Also saw a beige RAV4, my first. Didnt get to check the model or which engine it had because it drove by pretty fast.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
A black Bentley Flying Spur drove past my window not long ago
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
Dodge Charger SXT, my first. I was hoping to see an R/T.

Also a black Lamborghini Diablo, a white RAV4 and H3, and restyled LX470 and Accord.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Saw my first Caliber on the road. At first I thought it was a Malibu Maxx. I guess that's a good thing, given the lower price. It also reminds me a bit of the Vibe.

I spotted a new 760Li in my workplace garage. Big, black, and weird. One of the overpaid mucky mucks has a new ride.
  • jcat707jcat707 Member Posts: 169
I saw a black 2007 Tahoe Z71. It wasn't too bad. It does look kind of bland though.
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
Surprisingly, there are a few Lincoln MarkLT trucks on the roads where I live. I've seen a couple actually.

Not really the same thing: Seems like others are itching for spring up here in N.E. This week I saw a couple of TT's, S2k's, PT vert. and this morning a 350Z roadster on the highway... Top Down! That is hardcore convertible ownership right there! :surprise:

I've been on a Jersey assignment so I've done numberous 130 mile round trips from Long Island to NJ in my 14 year old LeSabre. My sighting were too many to recount, but the highlights were:

Charger R/T - I've been pretty uniterested in those cars but the R/T is something in person. The rumble had me looking for the classis muscle car getting on to the highway. The exhaust note is sweet and it was driven by an 80 year old man!! Good for him!!

Civic Si - Definately sharp. Looks the role of the street fighter and looks much bigger than the last gen Civic. It's got to be as big as my old 89 Accord.

Impala - Stuck in the middle lane of the Belt. It was probably a rental car leaving JFK so I doubt that it was out of gas.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Forgot to mention - saw a new red GTI in DC today, first one I've spotted on the road.

Looks OK, but the A3 is styled much better.

  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,336
in a local shopping center (not real upscale either, I just stopped at a little hole in the wall pizza place)>

A new S class, first I saw on the road. Got stuck next to it at a light on the way out. Big, nice interior, but the styling is awkward, at best. The butt is particularly disjointed and ugly.

And 1 row over, a black Audi A8-L. Not really new (although this one seemed to be) but certain rare to see one in public.

This morning when I came into work with an air suspension failure.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
Did it look like a lowrider?
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Yeah it did one of the height sensors failed and so the car went into limp mode and was super low to the ground.
  • jcat707jcat707 Member Posts: 169
Today on my way home, I saw a maroon Saab 9-7x. I completely forgot they were even out. It reminded me of the Acura MDX from the back, that's what I thought it was at first. I also saw a Dodge Caliber in orange.

    $1,000,000 Ferrari?

I spotted a news report about a weird accident involving said Ferrari.

"No one was injured when the rare Ferrari Enzo traveling 162 mph smashed into a power pole on Pacific Coast Highway. But the case continues to generate interest because the Ferrari is one of only 400 built, and detectives have struggled to understand what happened"

I've seen a few new Rav 4s. I don't know why they had to stretch it. They left one marketspace where they were king and moved into another that is much more crowded. Also, the detail lines on the rear quarters are very similar to a Tribeca. Of course Subie will be trashed for it and nobody will say anything about Toyo.

Also, driving down the road, I had a new Forrester brhind me and there was a new Saturn Vue right next to it. The new grilles on both are very similar. I know that GM has a piece of Subie. I don't know the extent of the deal, but the 9-2X is proof of that. Is it conceivable that the two could be folded into one???

GM sold their stake in Subaru... and Toyota bought about half of it...

So, no Subaru/Saturn merger is possible now...

I didn't know that GM sold their stake. What's the stroy with the 9-2X then? Is GM just buying them from Subie or is it not long for this world?

Good. GM is destroying Saab with these rebadges.

A few goodies today...some kind of high end widebody new Porsche...2 Bentley Continental GTs, one in silver, the other dark grey, a W220 MB S600, and a Rolls Phantom.

I saw a new Buick on the freeway yesterday. It wasn't a Lucerne or a LaCrosse. It looked pretty big. It had manufacturer plates on it. Is Buick planning on introducing another new car other than the Lucerne and LaCrosse?
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,675
    I notice you're around Detroit.

Some people have links to picts on here from spy photos and promo leak photos. Maybe there's one for Buick.

I saw the updated Park Avenue before it came out on I23 south of Flint. That might have been 94-did the updated Pa come out for 95?

It looked like an Aurora with the rear all covered with red plastic lenses. A few months later that was the Park Avenue design. The lady driving it was talking into a cell phone as she drove.

Saw my first VW Phaeton out in public. Nice interior, tons of room in the back seat. I don't think it looks all that big by itself, but it made my Accord look tiny parked next to it.

I saw it, of all odd places, in the parking lot of a rather dumpy Walmart. Wonder if it was an employee?

...spotted a Cadillac DTS limo and strangest of all - a Chrysler 300 limo! I haven't seen a Chrysler limo since those weird K-based jobs from the early '80s.
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
There is a 300C limosine in my area. It is part of a fleet this business has. Wanna see an even weirder one? You should see the Infinit FX45 limosine.

Heck Ernie Boch jr., a very big car dealer here in N.E. has a stretched Subaru Forester XT that he gets carted around in (This was a year ago)
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
I saw a PT Cruiser Limo back on Thursday. It was pretty small compared to the Escalade and H2 limos beside it, lol.

Today I saw a beige S Class, and my first Audi A3, in red.

And something really rare - a black T-Bird.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,336
A couple of Calibers. OK, I cheated and stopped at the dealer at lunch, but at least I got to sit in it! Lights years ahead of the Neon at least.

Also 3 Charger SRT8s, all in the showroom. 44K sticker. Ouch.

Saw a new Pontiac Solstice drive by the house yesterday. It looked pretty good going down the road.
2012 Mustang Premium, 2013 Lincoln MKX Elite, 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander.

Saw a red one on the road today. Have not seen very many yet.

gsemike wrote: "They left one marketspace where they were king and moved into another that is much more crowded"

Not really, the current model it outsold by the CR-V, Liberty, and Escape, all by a wide margin. Toyota wanted to play in the big leagues, i.e. 120k/year volume levels. I think they were doing about half as much.

Plus, since it pretty much overlays the current Highlander, 3rd row and all, it will let the HL grow into another size class. it would be interesting to see what Toyota could do with a platform the size of the Freestyle.

This was all over the news a week and a half ago. It was an enzo ownerd and possibly driven at the time by a shady Swedish tech entrepeneur. A really funny story excapt for the tragedy of wrecking an enzo. I think a lot of them have been crashed but few if any wrecked. And yes they do change hands at over $1m now, go look at dupont registry online. Wouldn't have been a bad investment car if you could find a buyer after three years but I have a feeling if you had $650k in investment cash laying around you might find better returns elsewhere. Plus then you woudl have to part with the car emotionally
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
I read something about a gun magazine being found alongside the wreck too, and the "driver" was supposedly someone other than the owner (right).

Sad story...money and stupidity followed each other.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
Another Bentley Flying Spur today...the local agency seems to be doing quite well.
  • 210delray210delray Member Posts: 4,721
The alleged driver was a German known by the owner only as "Deiter." As you said, "right."

My son actually proposed naming his putative son Enzo. My wife and I weren't exactly thrilled.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Those are asking prices, that doesn't mean people actually paid that much. Just something to keep in mind.

Saw a new Tahoe this morning. They look OK, I just have to wonder why GM didn't go with an indy rear suspension so the 3rd row could fold away, given most are purchased by families nowadays.

Saw a Civic sedan and an Impala as well.

Too much money for a IRS suspension and GM does not have the cash to play around with. To design a good IRS suspension that will be fine for towing is very expensive.
