...black Cadillac Escalade EXT - looks a lot cleaner than the previous model. The new Avalanche is also a looker. It no longer appears as if it were the victim of a rockfall.

Saw another FJ parked on the streets of DC today.

Aura is on the G6's platform, but it's actually an Opel Vectra clone. So think of it as a euro-flavor G6.

Also saw one of these lowered Blazers. So lame to put the Saab name on these...

spoted yesterday in silicon valley suburb maserati mc12 and ferarri enzo back to back! would really like to know who owns them?? there is a ferrari dealer in the town over, maybe a test drive?? forgot to note that the exhaust note was something straight from heaven, you can never imagine how sweet those cars sound, just amazing.

Spotted a greyish brown Chevrolet Tahoe LT, and then a white Cadillac Escalade with navigation, xenon and the 22" rims.

Also saw a black Kia Sedona, with Bahrain plates. It looks really long from the side. The cabin looks pretty good.

I saw a new Suburban. It's hard to say why, but it looked more svelte than its predecessor. It's still humungous, but somehow looked more sleek.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Only thing I don't like about the new Sedona (and Entourage) is the new headlights.

Dimensionally, how much bigger is a School bus compared to the Suburban? Seriously, I can imagine parking the two of them next to one another and finding they are not different dimensionally. Unless I owned a 40ft Yacht or trailer, or just feel like taking my house for a spin every now and then, I can't fathom the idea of owning one of those. :confuse:

The new GMT-900 SUV's are extremely rare around these parts and when I do see one, it is driven by some 110lb trophy wife doing "a buck ten" down the highway blowing people of the damn road. Pointless, absolutley pointless.
  • chuck1959chuck1959 Member Posts: 654
I agree with you it is more svelte looking. IMO much better design...doesn't seem so "truck" like.
  • gsemikegsemike Member Posts: 2,412
It's funny. It looks more svelte when I'm walking by, but then when I stop and soak up the dimensions, it's freakin humongous.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Did you ever hear that song, "90 lb Suburban Housewife Driving in Her SUV"? :D

It was hilarious. They put a country music background to it, but if they ever come out with a dance mix I'll buy it off iTunes.

Redwood City has the world's largest ferrari dealership (look it up) My bro lives near there and he was taken me by to window shop (unfortunately no enzo that time but there was a superamerica which is almost as rare 500 made vs 300 enzos). There is so much silly money in that area nothing surprises me. I saw an add recently somewhere for a canary yellow McLaren f1 in Los Gatos.
I saw an MC12 at the ny auto show two years ago and it looks almost too much like a race car for my tastes. You really wouldn't want to drive it anywhere and the cookie monster blue interior is awful. However, one of my favorite top gear segments involves a wealth Brit sliding his around in the snow (minorly damaging it) hilarious if you can find it
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
No, but it sounds like a hoot. I'm gonna have to go look for that.
  • subarufan1subarufan1 Member Posts: 85
i went to this place today to look and there is an enzo in the showroom, maybe i could sell my house and live in the car? :P
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
Jeep Compass today. Looks nice from there (never did see the front), but wouldn't have known what it was except for the name on the bumper. The Pathfinder-style door handle in the c-pillar did look a bit odd. The Caliber and Compass would both look better if they swapped their back ends, though.

Also new to me, a LR Freelander. I was wondering why a Ford Escape had a rear-mount spare with a Land Rover tire cover. :P

Noticed a Fit and a new FJ at the beach this weekend.

  • crimsonacrimsona Member Posts: 153
Went to the beach yesterday, told my friends who were coming later to look for the silver Fit (considering how rare they are, I thought it would have been easy).

Took forever for them to find me, in their words: "There's only one Fit, but there were 4 other cars that looked exactly the same (Suzuki Aerio, Chevy Aveo, Pontiac Wave)"

    I sighed.

Today I spotted a black F430 Spider and a new face 911 convertible
  • teds1teds1 Member Posts: 180
    Random stuff
Black DB9 parked... even my car illiterate girlfriend was impressed, Buick Grand National (it lives in my neighborhood)
Not my sighting but my brother caled to ask what a Qvale Mangusta was b/c he was stuck in traffic behind one.
Bunch of FJs, Maybachs, etc... an M6
One very odd looking Acura RL. Did it get a facelift or have I just not seen one in a while?
Also a silver Gallardo in Naples FL last week.

VW Eos....good looking car as usual for VWs. Can't help but think it of as a girly car though in same way of the old VW "Cabriolet".

  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Oh its not nearly as girly as the old cabrio or the current Beetle convertiable.

And you can get that wicked DSG gearbox in it as well.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I'm with you on this, the powertrain alone will bring more male buyers than the Cabrio ever saw.

I was a bit surprised. For the price of a Pontiac G6, it seems closer to the Volvo hardtop.

Saw 2 Fits today, an orange one and a red one.

I wonder if gas prices dropping slow sales?

We have a volvo dealer and a VW dealer. I haven't driven both of those new convertiables yet but I have sat in each one. Honestly for the money it would be the Eos all the way. The only real advantage the C70 seems to have is a more usable back seat but that is not worth 10,000 dollars more.
  • teds1teds1 Member Posts: 180
I like the new Volvo C70 more of the two. The eos looks a little boxy and weird to me. I have unfortunately spent waaaay too much time driving a new beetle (Mom's) and I have nothing but hatred for VWs these days. I know their recent quality issues are now well known but this car (a 2000 model year) is the biggest lemon I have ever encountered. You wouldn't believe how often simple mechanical stuff breaks at only 55k miles. At least it's a 5 speed. I'm just very wary of their products these days as a result.
  • teds1teds1 Member Posts: 180
Price being no object of course... Naturally I am not buying either of these "chick" cars anytime soon
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Volvo has their share of problems, too. I'm not sure that's a big advantage for them. ;)

I like the Eos...but what kind of name is that! :confuse:
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Eos was the titan goddes of the dawn from greek mythology.

    http://www.greek-gods-and-goddesses.com/eos-the-goddess-of-dawn.html

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eos

Kind of makes sense as the entire fuction of Eos in Greek Myth was to open the gates for the sun to come into the world.

I think it is very fitting but if you hadn't studied greek myth then you wouldn't know that.

I saw a customized Scion xB convertable today. Boy howdy, Toyota should make that a true model, it was a sweet looking ride. Kinda reminded me of the older VW Cabriolet.

True! Thanks for the bit of education there.:) Now that you explained it....the name makes more sense now.

Yeah I agree, but still that shape just isn't sporty enough IMO. I guess I'd want an R version.

The styling of the new G is definately evolutionary rather than revolutionary. I guess Infiniti thinks that they have a good thing going. I like the appearance of the new car and the interior is a major step forward. I'm told that the driving dynamics are greatly improved as well.

    I want one!!!!!!!!!!

So what did you think of it? At times I think it is a good looking little truck in pictures, and I've only seen them on a carrier so far, not on the road.

Well.... going by at 35 mph through an intersection, it looked pretty good... :D

It was one of those double-take things... So, didn't get a real good look at it... My initial thought is that it is attractive and sporty... Sort of like the Mazda CX-7, but with a little better proportions...

Too quick of a peek to get any details, though..

    regards,

What's up with the grill on those things? It looks like it's got broken teeth.

My first Ford GT, a Red one in the financial district near wall street. The guy had the engine cover up exposing all the goodies inside... very cool... One more supercar off my list to see in the wild... now if only I could get the elusive enzo...

I also saw two M5s today including one which drove by me twice... really great sound from that thing

Within the past 24 hours I had the chance to see all 3 of the new GM SUVs. Yesterday I watched a soccer match (Kuwait vs. Australia, Kuwait won 2-0) and as I was exiting I saw a bluish green Yukon. I really like the taillights and grille.

Then today I saw an Escalade in beige with those shiny factory rims. That's the first I've seen in that color, but I like black better. Also saw a grey Tahoe.

GM sure nailed the styling on these SUVs. Each has its own personality, the Tahoe looks tough, the Yukon is like a budget Escalade and the Escalade is the king of full size SUVs.

Saw a light blue parked about a block away from my house. Must've been a parent of one of the kids at the local Elementary School, which was having an open house.

RAV4s are so abundant now, it's incredible. I must have seen about 6 of them this morning.

    Also saw a Honda Fit.

...for Philly - a silver Suzuki Reno. Looks like they were trying to copy the Mazda 6 rear but slightly canted the taillights.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
I saw a grey VW Eos last night...smaller than I expected.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    New or new-ish...

Impala - 2 of them, one a fleet car.

DTS - nice, I like the squared off corners. But it's still FWD so the STS would get my vote.

Jetta - but Rabbits are still rare.

5 series and a 3 sedan, still no coupe though.

LR3 and a Range Rover Sport.

HHR - still hasn't really grown on me. Wifey calls it the Clown Car.

Cobalt sedan. I hear we're getting a G5 coupe version for Pontiac.

    SLK350. Nice.

XLR - pretty rare, but I've seen a couple lately.

Infiniti M45 - love it. Hadn't seen one in a while.

I had an early meeting this morning down here and I saw a flying Spur and a Z8 Alpina on their way in to work. Must be a nice way to commute. The Z8 had a dealer sticker from Southhampton so you know that the owner has a home out there as well as his sweet ride
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
New York to deliver a Range Rover yesterday I saw...

Two Lotos Elises one in bright yellow and the other in a neon lime green.

    Blue Ferrari 612 Scaglietti.

    and most unusual of all.

Two Hummer H2s actually towing something. One was towing a 30 foot trailer loaded up with equipment and another was towing a big trailer with a bobcat and some other equipment.

First time I have ever seen H2 towing anything besides a little utility trailer.
  • teds1teds1 Member Posts: 180
Not new of course but yesterday on the LIE I saw a pair of 72' 3.0 Cs BMWs, perfectly restored... Gorgeous. I love these cars and I think they will appreciate in value really soon. I want to get one while they are still under $20k
Also a Cayman S next to our car. My Dad really liked it...(Here's hoping he has a 60th birthday crisis!)
Friday in two blocks in Manhattan I saw an M5, M6, CLS55, and two Maybachs... That is just ridiulous, who says NYC isn't a car loving town?
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
Silver and a white Acura RDX's, bunch of Ridgelines, RAV4's, a Mazda CX-7 and a slick Saleen Mustang. And my neighbor bought a new MX-5 (Miata) so we got to comparing notes. Very nice car.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
I sae a black Bentley Flying Spur today. That's nothing too unusual in and of itself. This one had big 20"-ish blingy wheels. The driver had the window down, so I assumed it might be one of our always-choking pro athletes showing off a prize paid for indirectly via taxpayer funds. But instead the guy driving it looked to be a solid 75-80 years old. Seemed kinda silly.
