a white Bentley Continental, silver Lexus ES350 and beige Kia Optima 2.4

Best of all, I saw a white Mercedes E55 AMG, my first one seen. The only AMGs I ever see are SLs.

    ..the new one..

I like how you can be green with Honda, and still drive a normal car..

Today's beauty - a new style DTS, blingy chrome wheels, redline tires, pearl white paint, thickly padded brown vinyl top, gold emblems. The only way to travel is Cadillac style!
  • rockyleerockylee Member Posts: 14,017
Hold the vinyl top for me. ;)

The Cadillac dealer here has a convertible DTS, has had it for a while. I might get some pics of it.

Saw a BMW Z8 today, parked right in front of my house! Right behind my Miata.

I'm not sure if the next door neighbor had an overnight guest, or if the house across the street sold to the owner of the Z8, but it was there overnight.

I'll have to find out tonight, I know enough people to figure out who it belongs to.

I see a lot of these, two in the last 24 hours. Maybe I see the same ones over and over, but I run across them frequently.

Also saw a Z8 yesterday accelerating out of a shopping mall. Man those things have a nice sound.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I've only seen them parked, never driving. The other one I saw was at a Marina in Ocean City, right next to Harpoon Hannah's.

I just saw a nice A6 L is double black. It was so new that it still had the temporary tags on it. I'm not sure what the L means, but it definately looked like a premium car.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
    Hmhh Sure it was not a A8 L? I don't think they make a A6 L.

The L referes to long wheelbase version of the A8.
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
Spotted grey 2007 Yukon and Tahoe.

Also a white Bentley Continental GT, with those optional chrome wheels. Looked really nice although I'd take mine in black.
  • gsemikegsemike Member Posts: 2,412
I saw a black M6 on the street today. That car is really something. My God, it looks mean.

I'm pretty sure that car I saw this morning was an A6 L but I could have been mistaken. If you google A6 L, there are a few results for it but nothing on the Audi USA site.

That's Power Retractable Hard Top, y'all. I saw it at the dealer when I went to pick up my truck from being serviced. It almost came home with me. This was a copper red 6 speed Grand Touring with the tan leather interior. The sales guy made it do its folding top routine for me and man, was it ever cool.

This is going to be Mazda's secret weapon against the Kappa cars. Totally loaded up WITH the hardtop it barely cracked $26k! So much for the Pontiac G6 being the only retractable hardtop under $30k.

26 grand for the H/T Miata is a bargain. :surprise:

Hmhhh that does sound like a very good bargin.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
The long one, brand new in black. They're so gigantic next to my Miata.

The amazing thing is that they were able to avoid the usual drawback to retractable hardtops - it takes up no trunk space. It folds in roughly the same location as the clothtop. In fact, the PHRT has slightly MORE trunk space than a standard Miata, since the deck lid is a bit higher.

The Q7, rolling along side me for the first time. Gorgeous.

...first Toyota Camry Hybrid I've ever seen. However, it was on parked to the curb and hit in two places - once in the left rear corner of the back bumper and in the driver's door. Must've just happened that morning. Aren't there special procedures firefighters must follow when a hybrid is in an accident?
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
In the spring I witnessed a 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid get sideswiped by another car (Buick Lacrosse). T-boned the guy at an intersection, hit him probably at 40mph. Wiped out the whole side of the car and the impact caused the backend to swing around and tag the opposite side rear quarter of the car, right where the cells were located. It was pretty bad, but the battery pack remained intact and a typical flatbed came and picked up the car. There were no special treatments like roping off, laying down PIG mats or guys running around in orange jumpsuits. Just two guys and a wrecker.

Oh, and once the wreck was taken away, the guy hopped into his wifes car (who showed up in the meantime) and left. The lady in the Buick left in an ambulance.
  • chuck1959chuck1959 Member Posts: 654
WOW! Just like that VW Jetta commercial!
Actually I had been wondering about how a hybrid would do in a crash like that. No the mess I thought with the battery pack.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
If they have to cut into the vehicle with the jaws of life they need to be more careful and follow some special procedures but that is it.
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
Yeah, it was pretty wild. I was waiting at an inspection station getting stickers done on my cars. I heard the initial hit and when I looked up I caught the rear end swing away and crunch a telephone pole. The pole pretty much obliterated the trunk section and the battery pack was exposed through the trunk lid which blew open in the crash.

I was expecting much worse results being that it was the first accident involving a hybrid that I had seen. But the crew in the wrecker treated it just like any other accident.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Not for minor damage like a bumper and a door skin. Maybe if the batteries are compromised, but that would take a pretty major crash.

Every car has 'em, hybrids just have a few more.

Saw a black MX-5 at lunch, looked very sharp. I think she was paddle shifting, so automatic.

Saw an blue S4, then an A3.

    Then a red Fit.

Then a brand new S class. Those are growing on me. They look better in person than in pictures.

    Another RAV4 (I see millions).

    BMW 3 series, sedan though.

Saw a brand new maroon S-Class. I actually liked it, it kinda suits the big girl.
Viper in midtown traffic, and a Rolls Corniche yesterday.

Saw a new Bentley Conty GT coupe this morning. Light blue. Nice.

Spotted two white 07 Camrys and an 07 Tahoe.
  • derrado1derrado1 Member Posts: 194
No matter what country we dwell in, I think we've all seen tons of the new RAV4s. I bet navigator89 even sees a few in Kuwait. Usually where I live is a bit slow with rotation of cars, but even I have seen tons. More so than new Camrys or Commodores or anything.

I must say, I usually find Toyotas deeply unattractive ('01-'06 Camry, Lexus ES, Corolla) even though they do have their good points... but the new RAV4 and Camry are pretty damn good in my books! Especially now that Camrys are equipped with handling, and now feature those fancy wheels that, oh, actually look proportionate to the rest of the car.

Hyundai Santa Fe, looks like every other SUV on the road, but nothing about it offends.

To me, the front actually looks kind of Suburu-ish. It actually would have been a good addition to Subie's lineup. Not having that size SUV is a surprising gap in their lineup.

I was on my way to work and I believe it was blueish Aura I saw heading the other way on HWY 287.

...a blue Hummer H3 with "0%/60" in vinyl letters on the windshield. Probably being test driven by some chump lulled into a false sense of security by (temporarily) lower fuel prices.
  • rockyleerockylee Member Posts: 14,017
    Hey, what's wrong with a H3 ? It gets over 20 mpg. ;)

Tribeca is a bit bigger, Forester a bit smaller.

The next Forester (due for MY08) should grow in wheelbase and might be that big, though Hyundai slotted the Tucson in to the compact segment.

I've seen maybe two new Santa Fes, and I like them. Big improvement over the strange looking predecessor.

Saturn Aura, and Volvo C70 (hardtop up since it was raining).

Oh good god was it sweet... It looks so much more intense than any other A4. Even the seat stiching looks fast. This one was in a ridiculous royal/sky blue that you have to see in person... very cool car
  • rockyleerockylee Member Posts: 14,017
stickguy, Did you get a good look at both ?

I'd like to see a C70 in person. The Aura, which I believe I saw the other day was cool. It was smooth and wasn't so bland like the camcords IMHO.

I've seen 2 R class so far today...probably the only place in the world they are selling

Well not everyone is rich like y'all up their rubbing elbows with Gates. :P

The C70 was parked a few spots down, and I only saw the rear end. The Saturn passed me so I mostly caught the rear end as it passed by.
