Really? I've never seen one before... This one had the tire exposed, but it had a body-colored piece behind it.. It looked like it probably had a front piece that covered the tire, as well... but, just didn't have it attached..

I took one in trade once. The cayenne is worthless off-road unless you get the off-road tech package. I think there are two versions of it and the advanced off-road package actually makes the Cayenne a pretty formidable vehicle in the dirt.

Looks a lot like a Saturn Vue. :)

Only difference is that it gets to drive in the HOV lane with only one person on board, even though there are conventional gas cars that use less gas AND have fewer emissions. 'Splain that one to me...

This had to be one of the first ones imported, they JUST came out. The guy had a silver one parked showing it to his friends. I couldn't tell if it was the 335 from my angle but I think it was due to the aggressive wheel and tire package it was sporting. He got an automatic though... the putz.
Actually it looks way better than in pictures. It is significantly larger than the last version in my eyes and has a distinctive look from the sedan, even from the front.
The gap between the trailing edge of the door and the rear fender is not so bad in person. Pretty sharp looking but I'd still rather have the last gen M3 right now if it came down to it.

    Mexican plates or something?
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
Saw a S550 today...not so unusual anymore, but this one was a color I have never seen...a stark white. Non-metallic. Certainly the worst color for this vehicle (and most others). Uuugh money and taste part ways again...

Today I saw a red Saturn Outlook. It had regular plates so I'm guessing that they're out now. Anyway it looked ok, nothing spectacular, nothing horrible.

Also saw my first Mazda CX-7. That was pretty nice looking.

Was it the old style Yaris? Yeah they got those in Canada a few years ago, quite popular in urban areas.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,617
I don't know where they got it.... but, this was a brand-new model...

Weird...I am not familiar with that one. It's on the Toyota Canada site though
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,617
    Yup.. there ya go..

I passed it on the interstate.... and I knew it had a Toyota emblem on it... But, I started second-guessing myself, because it looked a little like the Versa from the rear...

So, I slowed down and took another look when he came back past me... Definitely a 4-door Yaris hatchback..

    This was near Lexington, KY..

I wonder why it isn't sold in the US. Canada got the 2 door hatch Yaris some time ago, so maybe it will be here ca. 2010.

Element SC, couple of Fit's, CX-7, a Mazdaspeed6, 2 CLS's, and a Ridgeline with a cap. I don't even notice the new RAV4's and Avalons anymore because there are just so many of them now that they "blend in".

And my local roofing co. on my way to work has replaced all his Silverado trucks with Ridgeline's, decked out with ladder bars and toolboxes. Got about 5 of them sitting there on the way in to work this morning, monogramed and all.

Do they have the Scion in Canada? The Scion xA is a 4-door hatchback, and virtually identical...

They don't....that might explain it. It's a baffling move, as Canada has long been more open to small cars. I think Toyota claimed the marketing expenses wouldn't be worth it.
  • derrado1derrado1 Member Posts: 194
A silver Mazda6 MPS (Mazdaspeed 6 to you), stuck in a long line of traffic. Looks good, but I imagine some people would miss it, especially seeing as how common Mazda6's are around here (Mazda at the moment is No. 4 in marketshare, after Holden, Toyota and Ford - in that order)

There is a yellow and black Lamborghini convertible parked outside of the Stock Exchange (Wall and Broad St). They're selling raffle tickets to win it for a thousand a pop. I think it said the ticket sales were limited to 400 or 500. I guess that it's for a good cause but I didn't catch what it was.

The car is sharp but when the top is up, the hardtop definately looks better.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Saw one of these on the road, nice. One of the better looking of the new batch of compacts. Doesn't look like a toy, like most others do.

They do that sort of thing in airports in Europe (3k $100 tickets sold for a raffle of some exotic etc...) It seems like better odds than the lotto and just think how cool the prize is. Of course the taxes would kill you and you can't exactly sell off part of your new Lambo to pay them.

If you have the means why not?...

FYI gsemike there will be a parade on 53nd and Park next wednesday of the new Audi R8, the R10 Le mans winner, and some of Audi's other hottest rides to celebrate the opening of their new show room. if you can you should check it out

I saw one of those yesterday, too. I've seen 2 or 3 of them, that's it.

On the same note, I saw a 9-2 today...The third I've ever seen. I think that is very telling in this area, where both Saabs and Subarus usually do quite well. All I can say is shame on GM.
  • rockyleerockylee Member Posts: 14,017
I agree, thankfully Saab, is going to get new product starting next year. Maybe they will be good enough for me to buy one if I don't buy a new vehicle this year ? I wished they would clone a 2007' Volvo S80 :)

'07 Navigator. First one in the streets.
  • gsemikegsemike Member Posts: 2,412
Thanks for the heads up but I can't make it all the way up there during the day.

Selling the tickets in front of Federal Hall was a good move. The corner is opposite the exchange. You'd figure that alot of working class Wall St guys making 250k would but a ticket figuring that they can afford to own the car for a while but couldn't afford to buy the car.

I saw a yellow Gallardo in Manhattan on 81st and columbus... it's about 2 feet high but very cool. I also saw a Red 360 Modena Spider and a Bentley CGT on the west side a bit later on. Today I saw a Maybach 57 and I could actually see the passenger for once (those curtains work well) I didn't recognize him though, had to be one of our captain of industry types.
We have several FJ Cruisers in my neighborhood now... kinda gives me hope that they could be practical in a city afterall (I know I'm dreaming)
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
I saw a silver Cayman today...not so unusual, but this one was missing the entire front clip/lights/etc. I assume being driven from or to a body shop.
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
I think the Alfa car club was out for a drivwe this weekend. drove past a group of Spyders and a couple of misc. ones going the opposite direction on Saturday. Also saw some unique ones. A G-wagon, a Type-R teg, and a couple of old 911 S/C's.

On the new car front, I saw a bunch of FJ's, a new CRV, a 911 GT3 (hawt) and a couple of Nissan Versa's.

Saw one on the road last night, very nice looking vehicle. From afar the stance reminds me of the Pontiac G6 (I guess it was based on that).

A new LS460 with dealer tags. It was driven by the same guy that always has the latest and greatest Lexus, the local dealer GM or something.

Was over in Northern NJ today near the famous Alpine area... saw some huge houses and nice cars... One restaurant had a row of 15 black german cars all over $85 k parked out front including a new 911 Turbo (soooooo sick). We also saw a blue Elise, Flying Spur, red modena, a bunch of FJs, several SL55s etc... I missed theAudi parade on Park Ave. but I might go see if they left the R8 at the dealer!
  • teds1teds1 Member Posts: 180
So I know it's cheating but for the new R8 come on... a dealership counts right? As mentioned above I went over to the new Audi showroom on 47th and Park. Very cool, if you are in the neighborhood or visiting NY I would definitely reccomend a quick stopover. They still had the 1934 Auto Union Type D racer which was phenomenal to see in person. They also had a Q7 (who cares), a kitted out A8 W12 (incredible interor... you wouldn't want to spill a coke back in there let me tell you), a bright yellow RS4... one of my current favorites to see in person, and the R8. The R8 is very approachable on the spinning podium and I got some great views. They said it would probably start at $100k (not $120k as has been reported) for the V8. The interior was very cool, classic Audi and there is a glass engine cover like on a 360/430 to show off the goods. There is a small front trunk which I saw opened, pretty tiny really... with no rear trunk or behind seat room one would be pressed to go somewhere for the weekend in one of these. The overall shape looks even better in person but I think it would be prettier with a matching color airblade. Of course, since the blade is carbon fibre that means you have to get a black car b/c painting it over would be a crime. The headlights are some of the best I have ever seen. There were several suede loaferedferrari owning types in the showroom drooling over it and asking questions. Awesome car overall

I've already seen a couple of these on the road, though it looked like one had dealer plates and was out on a test drive.

The Honda dealer on 355 in MD also had a new shipment of CR-Vs, but I have yet to see one on the roads.

Also saw an 07 Navigator at the Ford dealer next to us. Still not sure about the styling or those 70's gauges inside.

We just got some 07 Element SCs in stock. Much better looking than the previous Elements.

One of my car collector clients just pulled up in his new 2006 F430 with his assistant following him in his other Ferrari a 575M.

I guess I am going for a ride today.

OMG I have driven a lot of hot cars over the past couple of years because of the clients that I have but none of them compare to that F430.

I am talking hand of god acceleration and telepathic steering along with the most comfortable sport seats I have ever sat in.

I don't even mind the flappy paddle F1 gear box.
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
Couple of new CRV's, buncha Ridgelines, two RDX's and a jacked up "Monster" FJ cruiser riding on big superswampers or something like that. Caught a bunch of Bimmers heading to a meet so there was a nice collection of 2002's, M's and even a Z8. Then there was the CL55 :shades:

Oh and I also saw a Saturn Aura in a parking garage. Not bad I guess, but the front end has that Neon "smiling" look to the nose. Kinda dorky looking and the 20 million spoke wheels are hideous.
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,675
I've seen some on the road that I noticed. If this car were to have come from Honda, GM haters would love everything about it. "Wonderful design." "Perfect choice for wheel styling to fit the car." "That company is just so knowledgeable about how to design a car for today's world." And on and on.

    They did good.

Waaaaaiiiiiiit a second!!! That car is a Saturn???? What was I thinking?? I almost liked it!!! What were they thinking with that wheel styling??? Honda would never do that. That company is just so knowledgeable about how to design a car for today's world.

Note: tongue is firmly in cheek
