Hah, I just saw someone driving the new Blackwood... I'm sorry "Mark LT."
He was just driving by casually like he didn't know he was at the wheel of one of the auto industry's biggest jokes.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
It's R63. Big, normally aspirated engine.

I thought the R was grossly overpriced from the get-go. It's $10 grand more than the SUV its based on.

Usually the SUV is the more expensive one.

I really don't like the skirting/spoilers on this model, but this one had graphite-colored 18" TRD wheels.... Nice!

For some reason I saw 3 of these this weekend. They were all over the place.

I saw my first new style Lexus LS on the road today. Kind of dull, but better than the reskineed W140 S-class of the previous model, I guess. Reminded me of a dull arrow.

The fleet guy brought one in for a client, in burgundy color. I thought it's an RDX at first, very similar looking.

...a gold Lincoln Zephyr on the PA Turnpike going east just before the Fort Washington exit this morning.

On York Ave and 63rd Street - new black Jag XJ with a tan vinyl top (Hideous!!) that covered the entire roof of the car. Then a dark cherry pearl 2007 MDX speeding through the intersection. Thought it was a lot better looking in person (even in THAT color).

Last night along with a Habenero Civic Si.

Silver Dodge Nitro with Michigan plates in the Target parking lot in Clifton NJ. A few guys were checking it out when I drove by. I thought the Nitro was based on the Jeep Liberty but it looks a lot bigger.
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
Couple of RDX's, two new MDX's, and I think the RAV4 and CRV have become the official replacments for the Accord vs. Camry competition out there. They are everywhere.

And what's with all the X3's??? What did BMW, have a fire sale or something? Must've seen like 30 of them that night. I also caught a glimpse of two of those sexy new C70 Volvo's and in the Charles hotel in Harvard SQ. sat a Ford GT and a new 911 Turbo. Great night for car spotting.

spotted my first new Sebring on the road. This one was a blue. And a couple of CX-7's near my home.
  • natenj1971natenj1971 Member Posts: 174
Black RDX this morning. This is the second one I have seen since they were released.

When the first commercially viable self-driving car is made, it will be a Lexus LS. Cars for people who really just don't like cars. Make an S class or a 7er look like an Italian exotic.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
They won't even call that future Lexus LS an automobile, rather a "transportation capsule."
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
Yeah but it will be an abbreviated version of that like...

    TRAN CAP
    TRC
    T-CAP
The all new Lexus TRC the relentless pursuit of soulless driving.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
Excellent both of you...you should work in their marketing department. The isolation angle should be worked, too.

Now to spin it into a pretentious commercial. But of course, these cars are bought for their merits, not for any social graces or ego...only German car drivers buy cars for those reasons.

Speaking of commercials, the Lexus Christmas ads must be coming.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
    I really hate those ads.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,345
new Sebring. Looked pretty sharp. Looking forward to checking one out in person (this one just drove by).

Suxuki SX4. Smaller than I expected (by a lot, it looked barely bigger than a Fit!). Pretty nice looking, but it was a godawful neon blue.

Just came back from a weekend in the Bay Area and as usual California came through with some great car sightings.
    In no particular order,,,

    New Dodge Nitro
    FJ's galore
    Blue M6
    Shark Grey Ferrari Superamerica
    Shark Grey Lambo Diablo SV
About 400 porsches in the Napa Valley, every model imaginable, literally lines of 5-6 boxsters in a row.
Citroen DS (Coolest sighting by far, this was in Yountville)
    Morgan
A Lowered, chromed, big wheel H2 actually pulling a trailer!
    Yellow Z06 in San Fran(plates MYTY Z06)
    Couple of Bentley CGTs.

    I 'm sure I'll think of more.
Traffic sucks out there but if I had some of the above rides, I'm not sure I'd mind.
  • gsemikegsemike Member Posts: 2,412
I've seen one or two. It looks too much like a sedan version of the Crossfire. With the Crssfire pretty much a failure, why would they borrow so many styling cues from it. It also looks a little small. I saw it on the open road so I didn't stop and check it out but it looked Malibu sized. Something closer in size to a Camcord would have been better.
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
a few more Yukons and Tahoes, they're coming up everywhere in almost all colors, like red, grey, beige, white, silver.

Still waiting to see an Avalanche on the road, and I'm also waiting to see the Escalade ESV and EXT.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
It's a good-looking car. The rear lamp assembly doesn't overwhelm the back end, and the chrome bezels around the brake lights are a nice touch.

Went to see Casino Royale today at at the mall today (It's an awesome film btw, and the Aston Martin is really cool!) and saw a lot of amazing cars.

    - navy blue 2007 Cadillac Escalade
    - red Lamborghini Gallardo, with spoiler, custom rims
    - blue Ferrari 360 Modena
    - light blue Ferrari F430 Spider
    - grey Porsche Cayman
    - black, white Bentley Continentals
    - also black Escalade EXT inside the mall, looks great
    - a lot of Porsche 911s, many Hummer H2s and H3s, tons of Camrys

I even saw two BMW 3 series coupes! Anyone seen these around yet? The ones I saw were in white and grey, and looked amazing.

    What a day!
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
Yeah, I've seen a couple of the new coupes too...I do live in BMW-City though. Many new Escalades too...not unusual here anymore. Looks like a lot of people were waiting to buy these.

I saw a black Flying Spur with chrome wheels yesterday. No real exotics out in the rain here.

we brought over all of our cars to the Hartford Auto show today.

One Range Rover Sport in Red

    One LR3 in Green

and one Range Rover in white

    Christmas colors.. :) :P

Of course because we still don't have 2007 MY cars we had to bring 2006 MY vehicles.

We also brought our 1959 Series II so that should be the star of the show. We had half of the autoshow staff crowding around it as I drove it in and everybody that walked past had to stop and look at it.

I will try and get some pictures for tomorrow.
  • merc1merc1 Member Posts: 6,081
Not new, but I'd never seen one on the road before, a Ford GT. Red. Breathtaking.

with dealer tags. Must have been on a test drive. My only question is why did Jeep wait so long ? It looks alot more practical that the 2 door wrangler. Now all they need is the pick-up version.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
While at lunch. Looks....OK. Some weird cues, but overall I guess it works.

Wife said she got a test drive offer so we'll go try one for the heck of it.

At least I saw a few Maseratis that night to make up for it.

DB9 crawling in B2B traffice this morning. What a waste, that thing deserves an open road.

Also saw a white Pontiac Solistice. I read in AN that supply is now outstripping demand. I'm surprised. The # of days supply was very low but now it's actually above average!

Jeep Compass in my garage, too. First I've seen.

    New MDX yesterday. Meh
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,587
Yeah... but, considering the old one looked like an Odyssey, I think it is a big improvement.

I was at the Acura dealer on Thursday for the "MDX Launch Party". I think they at least have a credible entrant in the 7-passenger SUV wars.. Plus, the sandwiches were great!!

Still just a soccer mom vehicle for me, a minivan for those who can't stand the idea of saying they have a minivan.

They claim they've made it sportier etc...but the demographic won't change.

Was the old one not 7-passenger? I never paid attention...the most I notied them was when I was using them as pylons on local roads, and noticing their weird rear wiper.
  • british_roverbritish_rover Member Posts: 8,502
The old one was seven passenger as well and from what I saw at the auto show it was a better seven passenger vehicle.

The new one didn't appear to have as much room in the third row as the old one.

I haven't seen the numbers on them though so maybe it was just my perception.
