They are trying to market the MDX as a more pratical, affordable, reliable X5.

We will have to wait and see how sucessful that is.

Well, at least the blind spots are about 1/4 as big as with the old C70 'vert.

Is it still called C70? I thought it was now S40 based. :confuse:

It should be the C40. But I guess with a $40k price tag they couldn't do that, eh?

The Eos, G6, and Sebring seem like much better values, starting around $10 grand less.

I saw 3of these this week. I like it, it really looks like the old one even up close but smoothes out the awkwards angles and views of the first body style. Hopefully this will push prices on the older ones down into a range I can afford! Especially the coupe which I have always liked a lot.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Saw one of these. I still think the outer shape resembles the G6 too much. This car is getting a lot of hype, though.

Ferrari 599 or 612 - couldn't tell as it was moving in traffic.

Also, a F360 or 430, again hard to tell in traffic.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
    Saw another one of those.

I saw my first new X5 on the road (well... in a parking lot)..

It is amazing how similar it is in looks to the MDX.. It looks smaller than it actually is..

599 fiorano in a showroom... still cool I don't care. No "Satan is my co-pilot wheels though," bummer.
    aewsome looking overall.

Saw the new MDX as well and more ugly Crvs
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
I am seeing too many of those CRVs as well. Let me tell ya, the underbite is not a positive styling cue. Is this thing a product of the guy who apparently defected from Saturn?

I've also seen about 100 Audi Q7 lately.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Almost back to back. I thought they were the same vehicle until I realized he would have had to make about 5 U-turns to get there. :D

    gray Honda Fit sedan

    Really? :surprise:
  • rorrrorr Member Posts: 3,630
    "gray Honda Fit sedan...."

Probably parked right next to that Impala minivan.....
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
OK, should've said four-door with hatch. They're uncommon around here.
  • natenj1971natenj1971 Member Posts: 174
5 2007 Honda CRV's while waiting for the bus on York Ave in NYC. 3 Silver, 1 light blue, 1 black. This was all in the 10 minutes of waiting for the bus. All were EX models.

First saw a dark gray Edge in Rutherford NJ. An hour later the Mercury version (looked to be a cream color) pulling out of a Merc dealer on Rt 3.
  • gsemikegsemike Member Posts: 2,412
I saw my first all new Altima. It's definately sharp but it's a little hard to tell it from a Maxima. I guess that's good for the Alt, not so much for the Max.
  • chuck1959chuck1959 Member Posts: 654
I though there was going to be only a Ford and Lincoln version, no Mercury?
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
Chrysler certainly has cornered the market on stunningly ugly SUVs.

I also saw what must be the world's nicest plum Beretta Z26, driven by an old guy in a track suit, thick glasses, slicked-back hair, both hands on the wheel, and head craned forward. The plates were from Florida, of course.
  • gsemikegsemike Member Posts: 2,412
I'll second your opinion on the Nitro. What are they trying to do with it? Maybe it's supposed to be retro with more up to date cues injected than a PT or HHR?
  • gsemikegsemike Member Posts: 2,412
I haven't spotted it yet, but I just downloaded a little video podcast of the new Altima coupe that will be available this summer. It's going to be interesting to see how it goes.

They're going after the market of the Solara, Accord coupe and Monte Carlo, but the car will be more aggresive than any of them. The silouhette is very close to the G35 coupe and the only sheetmetal shared with the sedan will be the hood.

When I see the other coupes, they seem like retirement cars to me (unless they're pimped). They're for people that equate sportiness with 2 doors but still want that upright seating position and usable backseat. It will be very interesting to see how a coupe of this size with more sporting intentions fares.

a black Lamborghini Gallardo, and the new Expedition, also in black.

Also saw many, many 2007 H3s, Tahoes, Yukons and Escalades.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415
Not new, but all of a sudden there are two Land Rover Freelanders living in my apartment parking garage. I barely see these things in normal traffic.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,557
That is because they are usually in the shop...

Want to see something scary? Read over the Freelander discussion..

Yeah it is a sad little car. Find the people who own those freelanders and demand they get an extended warranty.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,557
Better yet... dump it at the earliest opportunity..

I always liked the vehicle.... too bad it ended up with so many problems...

Too good that I never swung a deal for one... I was close a couple of times.. My wife really likes them.

I won't say anything about the demographics of who drives those things here...but yeah...

I was thinking one might be a parts car for the other.

Oh, also new in my parking garage is an 07 Camry with that wacky body cladding, I guess that means its a sport model. Looks like some old Pontiac stylists found work with the enemy.
  • seminole_kevseminole_kev Member Posts: 1,696
Shows how rusty I'm getting at staying current with cars, but I saw a Pontiac G5 (yes five, not six) yesterday at the mall. Basically the Pontiac twin of the Chevy Cobalt, but I had no idea they were making those. I actually thought it was a Canadian car (as GM often plays around with the badging for cars up there) until I saw they were actually selling those here.

    Saw Silver Bently Flying Spur
Lincoln MKX on the 405 Freeway
    and a few 07 Expeditons.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
...silver Lincoln Zephyr, (or is it an MKZ now?). Also spotted gray Toyota Yaris - a rare sight around here. There is a red Prius down the block from me.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
Maserati Quattroporte. And about 3 or 4 BMW 6 Series coupes (the new ones).

I also spotted a Bentley Continental Flying Spur. It pulled up in traffic beside me and proceeded to make a left turn. The color was brownish silverish the kind in all the road tests. It was my first time coming so close.
  • chuck1959chuck1959 Member Posts: 654
3 days ago I saw a white Maserati Quattroporte. Nice looking car.
  • seminole_kevseminole_kev Member Posts: 1,696
Oh me likely the Quattroporte.....great looking sedan.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
We have a 2005 Lexus LS430 on our lot. I took it for a spin, but I much rather be sitting in the back....

    -rear reclining seats
-rear armrest pops down and has it's own control panel for the climate, and audio
-rear seats are heated, ventilated, and massaging
-sunshades of all sorts popping out of every rear window

This car has more gadgets in the back than many cars have in the front!

After playing with the car my fiancee called me at work just to chat, and I tell her I just came back from a massage.

    She asks "From who?"

    I say "From a Lexus"

    She says "Who's Alexis?"

    :P

After a few minutes she finally got it. :P

Oohh yeah that could get you in a whole lot of trouble.
  • teds1teds1 Member Posts: 180
Well I know where more than a few of those much ballyhooed wall st. bonuses went... There has been an explosion of flying spurs in midtown manhattan, I see 3-6 a day now. It does look awesome, much more gentile than the coupe and a total bargain compared to it's ultra lux competitors like the arnage, phantom and Maybach. It gives these guys something bespoke and rarified that is actually a blast to drive and relatively affordable. Seems like a hit.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
...I was behind a silver Jeep Compass. I don't know what's up with Jeep, but they seem to have become bloated with a lot of redundant models.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
Bentley Continental GT convertible in silver. I think that's the name for it.

That's the GTC, impressive machine. I haven't seen one yet, but I am sure I will soon as normal Continentals and Flying Spurs are not too rare here.
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
Over the past few days, I've seen quite a few exotics. First it was red Ferrari F430 coupe, just cruising along. On the next day it was a red Ferrari F430 Spider and a yellow Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder racing. It was just crazy to watch them accelerate. And finally, a light blue 360 Modena yesterday. Also a Hummer H1 pickup.
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
    Hey Navi,

Since there are so many exotics in Kuwait, and I assume many long open roads, how strict are the police on speeding there? Can you take out a car to the desert and rip it?
