I hear/read horror stories about the wait. I then see some very happy folks too. I ordered from a 5 star in Rochester NH (read: not that crowded!) Anyone want to take guesses on when I move to build? I'm a half full kind of guy, how about June 24th I get a D1 status.
By the way two things would bug me about waiting:
I really would have liked to have it for the summer but oh well
** easy to say if you ride a Bike
I really HATE hearing stories of a 6.1 Hemi coming out!
My VON is 1320xxxx.
If anyone can let me know an alternate site, I would appreciate it.
I have been calling Chrysler 2x/week and nothing has changed.. still in BGL (order passed edit.. material restriction hold) sometimes they say the sunroof issue is cleared up.. sometimes that's the first excuse rattled off... of course they "can't do anything.. and don't know any details" but "your car should be scheduled for build in a couple of weeks" ... this is my 4th set of "a couple of weeks".
My VON 1295xxxx seems relatively low compared to quite a few others who have posted on this & other boards who are seeing movement on their orders..
my dealer has ZERO info and seems to be so scared of not knowing anything he won't even call me to tell me I'm screwed... wouldn't make me "happy" but a little communication even with bad news would let me know that I actually might eventually get a car... as it is I am forcing myself to try and like the CTS more, ignore the fact that there are 42 bazillion G35's already on the road, or fall in love with the "good value" ...ugh... of the TL.
If any other car manufacturer was making something with the ballsy style & power of the 300c..................
Sheesh this is the US right? I have a pile of money and I'm WAITING?!?!?! hahahaha.. whatever happened to instant gratification <sigh>
I think my problem may be how Chrysler handles allocation to the dealer. I don't know, but if the dealer has a Chrysler sign outside the dealership and can advertise and take orders for the car Chrysler certainly ought to allow the dealers to fill them. When the dealer advertises one thing and Chrysler doesn't provide the product on a SOLD order with (cashed check) deposit, it would seem to border on fraud.
My husband and I just ordered a fully-loaded (yes, WITH a moonroof) Satin Jade 300C from a dealer in Virginia. Shelor Motors, to be exact. Salesman was very straightforward and told us he couldn't give us a delivery estimate at this point. Could be 4 weeks, could be 8, 12 or even 16 weeks! He just would not commit. Sold it to us at invoice ($36,500) with every available option. My husband kept adding things after we'd left!
Anyway, anyone know any details about the Dealer Tracking Online that is "temporarily disabled" right now? How long will it be disabled? Any other options for tracking a vehicle with no VIN number? Also, how long does it usually take to get a VON and then a VIN number?
Thanks for any and all help!
Sharon
They say they get new Updates ea. Wednesday.
So it looks like the whole process from order date to being at Dealership will be no more than 8 weeks and maybe sooner if I'm lucky.
Sharon
By the way, for those interested, my VON is: 1323XXXX
Order Placed at Dealership: June 15th
Car ordered with every available option, including sunroof and nav. system. No engine block heater, that's the only item my husband thought he could live without.
Sharon
you ordered 6/2? and in D already...I'd be ecstatic.
I ordered 4/23, still in BX as of today. 8 weeks...no progress.

According to the sales manager I worked with, DCX is allocating batches of cars with similar options to be built at a time, and when people's orders match (or come close enough) to what's scheduled to be built for a certain week, that's when the orders get completed. (since both the Magnum and 300 are built at the same plant, this would be true for both)
It looks like I will not be getting a June delivery (so no Chrysler financing rebate unless they carry that through for another month), but hopefully I won't have to wait too much longer.
We're in BX status as of yesterday, but our dealer has no more allocations for June, so the rep. at Chrysler said it wouldn't be scheduled for build until July.
Today it arrived at the dealer, I'll be picking it up Monday.

wildebeast- Where are you hearing this?
On 3 May 2004, the salesman, his GSM and I agreed to put my name on a fully optioned (except AWD) black 300C they had ordered in April. One or two days later, the salesman told me the vehicle was identified as "sold to a customer" rather than just being produced for dealer inventory but that it was too late to actually tag it with my name because it was already in "D(1?)" status. He also mentioned they had the VIN for the vehicle.
On 21 May, I was told the vehicle's status was "in transit to dealer" with an estimated ship date (ESD) of 20 May and estimated date of arrival (EDA) to the dealer of 24 May.
On 01 June, I was told the vehicle was in West Seneca, NY with an EDA of 04 June.
On 05 June, I was told the vehicle was in Westborough (or is it Westboro?), MA with an EDA of 07 June. I asked for, and received, the VIN on this date.
On 09 June, a Chrysler Customer Service representative told me the EDA was 11 June and all other answers were that I should contact the dealer.
On 17 June, the GSM confirmed the vehicle was released on or about 21 May and the EDA had changed to 21 June. The GSM told me he could not tell what the vehicle's location was.
Today, 26 June 2004, the salesman told me the online dealer tracking system shows location code 2050DB5 and an EDA of 28 June. He has no idea what the 2050DB5 means. I asked him for the "Dealer Code" required for me to track status on the DM extranet/www site since I already have the VIN; he said he's not familiar with the "Dealer Code" and doesn't know what it is.
carfax.com correctly identifies the vehicle when I enter the VIN.
What does the location code 2050DB5 mean?
The salesman gave me a location for the car on two occasions. After that, his GSM said he (the GSM) could not tell from the tracking system where the car is/was. Who is telling the truth here: does the dealer's tracking system tell them where the vehicle is in transit?
Is there any other way I can track this vehicle?
Thanks!

I cancelled my order last week. Not because I couldn't wait (well maybe a little because of that). But I thought this is the time in my life where I want a convertible. So I went with a new T-Bird instead. V8, rear wheel drive and a BIG sunroof :-)
On 29 June, Jim (DaimlerChrysler Customer Assistance) told me my 300C was put on a storage hold and then sent back to the factory about four or five days ago. He said he didn't know why the car was returned to the factory. He suggested that I call back Wednesday morning for an update.
On 30 June, a DCCA representative confirmed the hold and return to the factory, and indicated she thought it may have been released from the factory and was on the last leg of its journey/transit but she wasn't sure. She even consulted with her supervisor before suggesting that I should call the dealer today, that the dealer, as the car's destination, may have more up-to-date information regarding its transport. After a bit of voice-mail tag with the salesman handling my deal, I got the word: it's here! :-) I have seen it! It has a build date in May (I looked but don't recall the exact date code). Tomorrow, eight weeks and three days from when I sat down with the salesman and said, "Let's do it!", it will be cleaned and prepared for me to pick up in the evening, after work.
Hm, I am scheduled to work overtime on Friday. Is this a case of Hemi Fever I feel coming over me? Am I gonna have to call in sick?
Thanks for your consideration!

The last time I checked with customer service, they told me the car was in some 'kind of hold' and they didn't know the exact location. At this time, I knew the car was sitting in a lot in Marion (OH) waiting for the go-ahead from someone in Auburn Hills to give it a green light to ship. When I located this 'someone', the car was released and delivered the next day. All this happened in spite of uninformed customer service (not the peoples' fault) and complacent dealer. If I hadn't intervened, the car might still be sitting somewhere. I've had the car a month and am very pleased with it.
Sorry, to be discouraging but you're only going to know the exact whereabouts of your car, and its delivery date, when you see it sitting in your dealer's lot.
Good luck. Be patient; the car's worth the wait!
