You will soon see that it was worth the wait.
    What a car to drive.

Get ready for a lot of attention though. Yesterday I had a guy run out of a store into the parking lot to talk to me about my car.

drove my new 300c to st. louis mo. over the weekend about400 miles round trip. interstate 70 all the way. man this car is somethig else. no pull to the right what so ever. everything worked just fine, my only complaint is the cruise control stick it will take some getting used to. by the way did i mention the hemi power and more power.i see what you mean worth the wait.
  • speedmeisterspeedmeister Member Posts: 9
Can you post pix of the mopar mud flaps on your 300C? I'm interested in getting one too when my car gets here. Thanks.

Yesterday I was looking at a 300C ata local dealer. It looked darned nice in the Lava Red - far nicer than I had expected from the color chip in the brochure. When I sat in it, however, I had the distinct feeling that the steering wheel was not perpendicular to my body. The right side was closer to me by 1/4" to maybe 1/2". I showed my wife and the salesman, and they could easily see it from outside. I then sat in the Touring next to it and it was the same. Lastly, I checked a Magnum SXT on the lot, and it too was not straight. I don't recall noticing this on the Chryslers or Dodges I drove several weeks back. Has anyone else noticed this? Sometimes cars are just designed that way, but I'd sure like to think that it was a quirk of that dealer's setup or something.

By the way, the Hemi is definitely the way to go for maximum fun.
  • deegeedeegee Member Posts: 5
Whoops. I meant to post this question about steering wheel alignment on the general 300C board. Doesn't seem to be a way to move it.

I WAS TOLD TODAY ON THE CHRYSLER 800# THAT MY 300C
(ORDERED 7/08/2004) HAS BEEN PLACED ON HOLD BECAUSE MY DEALER ALREADY SOLD/ORDERED THEIR TOTAL
ALLOTMENT OF 300S. HAS ANYONE RUN INTO THIS PROBLEM BEFORE? HELP, WHAT DO I DO NOW? THIS DEALER IS MY FRIEND AND GAVE ME A GREAT PRICE.
  • tolenashtolenash Member Posts: 52
Not much you can do. your dealer should offer to buy one through another dealer.

BTW this is why I now drive a 04 GTO...
I had ordered 4/23 and come 8/23 had yet to get the 300C. i got my deposit back, went over to pontiac the same day, ordered a blue w/ blue interior, manual 6 spd. The dealer (in SC) bought it from a dealer in NC and flatbedded it to me. Had 4 miles on it. That my friend, is service. They also completely detailed/waxed it the morning I picked it up. My salesman even paid for my first two oil changes.

Yesterday, August 30, I finally took delivery of my Cool Vanilla 300C ordered on April 17. Has all options except cold weather, smoker's and sirious radio. No pull to the right but felt an engine surge about 3 times on drive home. Had 3 miles on it when I got it and now have about 30 miles on it. More later.
  • lowriderlowrider Member Posts: 9
    Regarding engine surge...

I noticed this too when my 300c was received...I think it has something to do with the "learning" tranny. It takes time to build data on your driving habits, once this happens, the jerks seem to disappear. I have almost 6000 miles on my C and havent felt a jerk for a long time now.

Not sure if this is the culprit but do let it build up some data on your driving habits.

    Good luck!

Care to share your order OTD price? Why can't your friend sell you one from the lot?
  • abqsteveabqsteve Member Posts: 2
Told today that the vehicle ordered 106 days ago has a VIN and is in status D. What does that mean as far as build time and delivery expectations?
  • wildebeastwildebeast Member Posts: 23
I got my VIN on July 9 and delivery on August 30.
  • bjsohiobjsohio Member Posts: 69
I ordered my Magnesium 300c April 27. It went into "D" status July 6. "KZ" on Aug. 16. Delivered to my dealer (NE Ohio) on Aug. 22. Drove it home on Aug. 23. The excitement dwindled thru the long wait.... it's baaaaack!!!
  • cjamisoncjamison Member Posts: 3
I order my 300C about June 19th and it has been in the D or D1 state for a long time. So, I called Chrysler and customer care said they did not know why it was being built and he would email someone and return my call. No Call. Called customer care again she said call the dealer. I called dealer and they indicated that Chrysler was doing something at their plant related to other cars. The dealer said they hope the car would come in October but they could not guarantee it. As a result I am looking at other cars again. If some one else has information on the delay or can confirm, Please reply.

Gotta say, I was lucky. There was 1 300C on the lot this last weekend (test drive vehicle) with 98 miles on it - I took that one. They were talking about a possible 3 month wait.
Today I went back for a few things and they confirmed a SIX month wait. They were telling me that the 5.7l HEMI is not being produced quickly enough. They can't get the top-end Magnums either. Six months...this is a dealership in Daly City just south of San Francisco.
    Good luck chaps...
    Tony.

I was able to get VON number from dealer and then called chrysler customer service. They can give the order status such as D or D1. Also, The dealer should be able to do this for you. You may want to check our this web site www.durangoclub.com/faq/NewBuyers.html for meaning of all the codes. Your car falls int the schedule group which is listed below:

    C - tentative schedule
D - firm schedule: serial number assigned, approx time in station - 5 days
D1 - gateline: unit sequenced for production, est ship date assigned, Approx time in station - 12 days

My care as been stuck at the D1 for a while see post 226 and 227. I expecting a long delay and while check next week with dealer and call customer service. You may have to call customer service several times before you get any body that is willing to go the extra mile for you.
If I receive any information, I will post the information.

Placed an order for a Cool Vanilla 300C on 09/02. I got a DC Rewards price which is 1% BELOW invoice, but it was real tough finding a dealer in Southern California that would honor the discount. Finally found one 75 miles away. Many dealers had told me orders take 16 weeks. Now that I am lined up I can hardly wait.
  • dennisdennis Member Posts: 50
Judging by all of the posts, probably not until next year!!
  • cjamisoncjamison Member Posts: 3
I just received my 300C on Sept 29th and placed the order on June 19th. See Post #226. It takes off like a rocket without even trying.
  • dennisdennis Member Posts: 50
Anybody pre order an SRT-8 yet? Any waiting lists? I called a couple dealers and they said you can't order one until spring. Chryslers website says they are at dealers in the Spring. Hate to see my Satin jade go, but....
  • viper01viper01 Member Posts: 18
My dealer mumbled something about the Nav and sunroof being 'restricted'. I think that means the factory is not accepting orders OR maybe not building cars with those options. He quoted a 16 week wait to get a car. Doer anyone know about these 'restrictions'?

    Thanks, Dick
  • 300c_kid300c_kid Member Posts: 29
I was told 16 weeks too (I am in the Los Angeles area). Mine has Nav and Sunroof; 5 weeks down, 11 to go...

Half the time salespeople will make up stuff, especially if they think they can persuade you to take one available on the lot or the pipeline (i.e., one w/o Nav and sunroof).
  • jayjagusjayjagus Member Posts: 8
Black, 300C, all options except; side impact air bags, sat. radio, halogen headlights, and adjustable foot controls. Ordered on June 22...still has not arrived. Was told that it was on hold originally for moonroof issues, then for lack of nav systems to install. Called Chrysler directly this week and was told that all holds had been removed and that it was in production...whatever that means.
  • 300c_kid300c_kid Member Posts: 29
You are still within the 16-week period :-)
  • ballcoachballcoach Member Posts: 7
I've heard from a couple dealers that because of the launch of the new Grand Cherokee and DCX wanting to get them on the road, that orders for Hemi 300's and Magnums has been delayed, as well as ordered vehicles with NAV. Also, as of 10/1 Hemi models are no longer eligible for DCX discounts.

Just checked DaimlerChrysler's Affiliate Rewards site and doesn't say anything about excluding hemi-engined vehicles from the discount...
  • bigkev7000bigkev7000 Member Posts: 23
what is the website for DaimlerChrysler's Affiliate Rewards I would like to check to see if my company is on there
  • 300c_kid300c_kid Member Posts: 29
you need to find out from your employer (usually under HR benefits) if it is affiliated and get your company's code to get in

Here's another link to info about Affiliate Rewards:

as well as a link with a list of suppliers (not complete):

I ordered a 300C on 10/14 with a DC Affiliates discount coupon. Coupon only excluded SRT models. It is a fact that dealers "exclude" hemi models. I had 2 dealers refuse the coupon because they're on an allotment and they can sell them all for MSRP or more.

The thing I find strange is that my DC coupon came from Dodge as appreciation for buying a Viper then the dealer pokes me in the eye by refusing to honor it. Do you think I felt appreciated??

I have another if someone would want to try it out. Out of 4 dealers in my area, 2 refused it, 2 would accept it. It's 1% under invoice.

Viper01, I would love to try the affiliates discount as I am about to special order a 300C. Let me know how to further contact you. Thanks.

On 7/28 I ordered 300C loaded, Satin Jade Pearl, minus smokers group, wood steering wheel and adjustable pedals. Has everything else. Got the VON# shortly after the order. It went D on 10/5 when I was given the VIN#. Still in D today. When I ordered it I was told 90-120 days. I ordered this car having never seen it in person. I have yet to drive one. I'm sure I won't be disappointed even with my high expectations. I will post more facts as I get them.

After such a long, unnerving wait excitement wears off. I had ordered a Bright Silver C, but after 9 weeks DCX was still unable to even tell me the status of my order. DCX customer reps are horrible --with few exceptions. The dealer was of no help either. Frustrated, I ended up canceling my order.

I have been driving Chryslers since I learned to drive 22 years ago, but looks like my next vehicle will be an Infiniti G35.
  • bjsohiobjsohio Member Posts: 69
Too bad... you only had about 8 weeks to go! They should have told you at the get-go how long it would take. It was definately worth the wait. You'll probably be able to buy one off the lot the next go around.

Anyone have experience with the timetable on a factory order for a 300 Touring?
  • ahpahahpah Member Posts: 6
I was at the dealer this week and told that he will not even be able to take an order for a C AWD until the end of Jan.

Anyone else have such an experience?

    Thanks,

    Paul

Just got a call from my dealer in Ohio and can now take orders on 300c awd... Now the long wait.
  • bigmike5bigmike5 Member Posts: 960
A local dealer salesman told me that the factory has about 100K orders to fill which is why things are a little behind in getting them out to the buyers faster. Patience is recommended as they work hard to get them built.
  • 300c_kid300c_kid Member Posts: 29
I do market research for various manufacturers for a living. Most studies are on customer satisfaction with the dealer experience.

It is SHOCKING the sleaze Chrysler dealers are displaying with regards to the 300C. Having patience with plant under-capacity is one thing. Putting up with fast-talking slimy dealers is something no one should have to put up with. Especially from a brand that aspires to be viewed as upscale.
  • jake4jake4 Member Posts: 7
Just to add some perspective for those also waiting behind me in the Que....
    I ordered a loaded 300C, Satin Jade Pearl,on 7/28
Found out today the car is built.
    Estimated ship date is 11/15.
Should be getting it around the end of Nov.(I live in the upper mid west.)
The day I ordered it I was told up front it would be 90-120 days.
  • ahpahahpah Member Posts: 6
Much to my surprise got a call on Monday from the dealer and was told that he could now take a 300C AWD order. I placed the order Tuesday night and was quoted 8-12 weeks for delivery.

I told him that based on this forum (and others) I didn't expect to see it until March. He was insistent that 12 weeks was really the longest he anticipated it taking.

Also - Satin Jade and Lava Red are no longer available. I saw it on the Chrysler order screen myself. There are now only 5 colors that you can order (blue, black, vanilla, silver, magnesium).

    I got the Midnight Blue.
  • bigelmbigelm Member Posts: 995
Take away 2 colors and not even replace them. Just have your usual common colors, except for the Magnesium.
  • bigmike5bigmike5 Member Posts: 960
I toured the plant a few years ago with the 300M club and at that time they had two giant computerized welding machines made by a Japanese company, but I can't recall the name now, which were a big part in the production process. I recall seeing sparks flying everywhere from the welding. Anyway, I heard that as the production for the last generation LH cars came down, they took out one of the big machines. Then when the Sunami of orders for the new platform cars hit, it put them behind because one machine couldn't keep up with the demand. They were in the process of adding a second machine again a few months ago. As I recall from the tour, we were told that each machine cost a few million, but were probably worth it.
  • jake4jake4 Member Posts: 7
On the web I read that on colors too, but that's different than reading it on an order screen. I got lucky ordering that color 07/28. I like the Magnesium also. One would think there would be a larger variety in colors. 300C AWD is probably worth losing one mpg. Too late for me. I asked about it in July and they said no then. 8-12 weeks is tolerable. I've seen "Midnight Blue". It is an awesome color. Depending on the light it seemed even more black than the black one parked next to it. I assume you live where you can get good use of AWD. Of course now that you ordered it, it will never snow again!

I have had a Satin Jade 300c on order since September. I also have an "EC" number that is good until 12/31. My car is still in "BG" status with no set build date. Question #1: Are all existing orders for Satin Jade going to be built, or do I have to change colors? Question #2: Even if my car comes in after the first of the year, will my EC be valid? I had called DCX customer service, and mentiond the car was "sold order confirmed," and was told my EC "...should be good." "Should" is the word that bothers me. Any information is appreciated.
