Now, i do like this one. fewer miles, less money. Probably because of a bump on the carfax. But, if it checks out, I will take the discount on it and be good. At this price point, could just buy it and hang on, financing instead of leasing. I also love the color combo.

You probably know this, but the 3er GT has a stretched wheelbase so there's a bit more legroom in the rear seat.

Regarding the Q40, I'm pretty sure they stopped offering rear-park assist - though that might have been 2015 (my coworker has one and it only has a backup camera even though it is otherwise loaded up). Not a huge deal, just something to be aware of.

That's the dealer I'm stalking the Black one with 11K miles. I do like the White, but not with the STONE interior. Light grey will not be my friend. I really like the Black/Black (I know most of you detest it). I also really like the Slate Blue Color with the Black Interior.

I'm not sure what the in service date is on this one is. It is Blue, with 18K miles. It has the Navigation system. They are asking $23,490 for it.

They also have a 2015 Q40 AWD with 12K miles asking $23,990 with Navigation.

Just like my family. Maybe she can keep things down to a dull roar :)

One thing to watch out for with these G/FX, if one is concerned about such things, is ex-rentals - I remember National and I think Hertz had a number of them in the fleet, especially late in the model run.

I love the slate blue. But if you really like black over black, the 2015 looks like a better deal. That is basically just a g37 rebadged, right? Still well equipped. I forgot those even existed. Hmmm.

OK, I really like this one. Should work for you Bradd. low miles, and based on carfax, you will have about 3 full years warranty, unlimited miles, so if doing 20K/year, you will be good right up to about 80K, and by then, should be paid off. Then another 3 years no payment driving, getting you to about 140,000.

given that they are only asking 22K, I wonder what you can get it for? Get it down to 20, and do it! I'm sure the wife will understand.

I now think that something like this is probably the way I should go. Until I change my mind again. Though I would probably use my local guy, and skip the CPO upcharge.

I did some searching down here. for a nice car, low miles, lots of warranty, and loaded up with the premium and navi, this unit is easily the best listed unit price wise.

Oh, I'm sure there are a bunch of G37x's here in Colorado - they are quite popular. I just don't want to tempt myself since I'm just 6 months into a 36 month lease.

These G37s are a really good bargain. Why would one spend $20k on a new civic when they could get one of these?  My guess is the reliability has to be similar.

I'm sure we've all been in the situation where someone comes to us (as car enthusiasts) for advice, but they are dead set on buying new, fearing what others may have done to a car. I generally suggest what one could get on the used market for the same price, but never push the concept - people generally want what they want.

Having said that, I traded in a very nice used 535i xdrive for a new Mazda3 a couple years ago. By most objective standards, the BMW was by far the nicer car, but I just wanted something like the Mazda at the time.

Depending on my mood at the time, a killer deal on a 2015 Q40 at the end of the year might be in my future. I really want to eventually be payment free.

With my usage, good candidate to get a higher miles one at a big discount.

Explained my latest scheme to my daughter today. She was fully onboard with looking. Liked the idea of not having too many major events right after graduating. But we have many variations of timing, and could probably car share if needed.

Would help my planning if I knew if, when and where I was moving!

There really doesn't seem to be a massive price Delta for the higher mileage cars.  Maybe non CPO from "your" dealer are less expensive.

I would do non-cpo most likely. Especially if under factory warranty for a bit. At least on an Infiniti.

Agreed, plus the G37/Q40 was built forever so these last models had all the issues pretty much sorted out.

Yes, it was an auto tranny Spark. If I had to get any Spark, I'd spring for the most equipped model they have so at least it looked o k, has to have alloys though. But compared to your Soul, I just know y'all will not be happy. For what they are, the Soul is a really good vehicle, something I shoulda looked at before I bought the Tucson. I've driven a few new 2017's at work and like them even more now with the updated infotainment system. I really think that Hyundai/Kia are producing some very nice vehicles now and they seem to be like Honda and Toyota were back in their heyday of the 90's. I know the resale is weak still but they make some damn fine vehicles! If I didn't like German cars so much now, I'd be buying a Hyundai/Kia product!

Me too. I'm sure it's a great vehicle, but I just can't warm up to the styling of the new XC90. The first-gen XC60 looked better than the new XC90, and the new XC60 also looks better than the new XC90.

You'll enjoy the Infiniti. Not even a bad financial move really. Most likely over the next few years, depreciation could be the same. and if you got the 11K miles one, you just bought yourself another year of driving, right?

all this Infiniti talk has me rethinking my plans. I discussed some of my schemes with my daughter today. She is on board for looking. She is my partner in that. She did point out other options, such as sharing a car next summer.

anyway, plan of the moment is to find a used car for myself in the winter but one that if needed, can transfer over to the princess the following summer. Putting me back in the market. Or that I could keep for a while if she ends up moving to a different option for herself. Key will be picking a price point to stay under. Basically needs to be something that would be reasonable for a 1st car out of college for a new job, but that is good for potentially a 40 mile each way daily commute.

so, for no particular reason, I picked $15,000. Seems fair. Criteria is slightly fluid. She wants Navi, but could just go cell instead if need be. Heated seats, but if cloth, negotiable. I want a moonroof and no hands entry and pushbutton start. So most likely, I just created an option pool of, approximately, zero options. But, will do what I can to cobble something together. Or hell, just up the budget to get into a G37!

a few random options that could qualify.

I couldn't make myself do it. and would be stuck, because she wouldn't take over the payments!

at least has a moonroof and bunwarmers. But I don't think either one of us wants this generation.

I could support this. And likely so would his wife, because it won't really change much $ wise. Loan about the same, maybe 1 year longer. But a car with fewer miles, that he really can keep a good 6 years (and will probably have to). Needs to drive something, so why not? This would be at most a minor, almost lateral, move.

Now, different story if he came home with a new car on a $600/month lease!

Plus it's something she can drive, is great in the snow and stylish......now that I'm thinking it through she may end up taking the G37x from @nyccarguy and leave him with the Pilot.

man, that would certainly be a real kick in the teeth.

also a reason my wife is afraid to trade in her car on something fancy. She suspects I will just snag it from her. Though if we can get by with one, really doesn't matter much.
