Ouch. Trade in value on that one will take a big hit.

Bradd, the trunk is on the smaller side, but could be good enough. Need to go test it out. Worst case, throw one in the car!

I could take my son and his big baseball bag to games in the Miata. Anything is possible.

Gee, you never know with these things? If they start taking it apart (after shipping it to some specialty shop approved by Ferrari) and they keep finding new problems in there, they may pull the plug. Nobody wants to be buried in this thing. Sad part is, it's already doomed in the resale market. One thing we know--nobody's happy except the repair shop.

Bradd.......I known while I was in F&I, the offers looked decent. Not sure if you're leasing or buying, but here you go...

    https://www.infinitiusa.com/offers

So I used the selling price from the regional lease deal on the Infiniti website along with the base lease rates and money factors given to me by @kyfdx & @Michaell for 39 month/15K per year leases. Looks like a lot of car for basically the same amount that I'm paying for the Legacy. I know it is leasing vs. financing, but in the end it is a car payment. Once I add the additional miles into my calculations, it comes out to an additional $100 per month.

That 2013 G37x with Premium Package and under 11,000 miles is starting to look mighty tasty.
Do note....I repeat...DO NOT take that Signature on a test drive after you pull up in the Subaru. As good as your Subie is, and everything I've read from just about everyone, they're wonderful cars, the power of the Q50 3.0T will be an eye opening experience.

Yeah, that's why I've never taken anything like that out for a test drive. As much as I like my Jetta, going from 300 HP back to half that will be sad.

Have taken a Mustang GT and Camaro SS - with sticks - out. Not likely to ever be in the market for them. Those are almost scary fast.

He is three next week so yes the double stroller doesn't get used nearly as much now and yes probably even less by the time the Enclave goes back.  I think any of the mid sizers will do it the more I think about it.

I used the 50% Residual & .00006 money factor given to me by our hosts. Then I used the MSRP of $41,605 & Net Capitalized Cost of $35,403 off the Infiniti website. With 15,000 miles per year, the pre-tax payment came to $377.76 per month for 39 months. My sales tax rate is only 6.35%. After tax came to $401.75 plus about an extra $100 per month for extra miles ($.25 per mile over).

As I've said before (although it hasn't stopped me in the past), leasing gets expensive when you do a solid 20K per year. I really would like to make that G37X work. I'd just have to make sure to take the Pilot when I have to pickup from hockey practice.

I'd ask to take the G37x home to see if the hockey equipment fits. It's not a huge trunk but I remember it holding more than I expected when I packed it full of stuff for a cross country drive.

I agree with stick, this is a car that you can pay off early and drive forever. It may be a bit too powerful as a first car for the kids, but as I've said before I wish I had kept my G37x. It was a great car for the price, the power and a decent mix of sport and comfort.

I was also impressed with the AWD system. It won't be as great as your Legacy but with the factory tires I was able to get it through "tracks" when we had 8+" without problems. Now you'll hear the snow scrub the underbody with that much on the ground, but it tracked just fine through the snow.

You may be surprised how quickly you can get used to all that power. At the same time, though, I don't feel my EX is lacking, even though it is down about 130hp from the 2 vehicles leading up to it (excluding the temp stay of the Jetta).

I bet you can fit hockey gear in the Infiniti. You just have to be creative. Back when I was in school and had time for such things, I could fit myself and three other guys, plus hockey equipment, in the fintail. The large trunk fit the gear bags, and sticks would ride in the car, running lengthwise in the middle between the seats. Maybe not 100% safety for kids, but it worked - everyone always wanted to ride in my car B)

Well, yeah - if you're looking to possibly lease then the new car price is all that matters. I feel my CPO was a pretty good deal.

Fun ages on the kiddos! Don't need to tell you how fast it goes - my 13 (almost 14) year old just tried out for the freshman summer baseball team for his high school. Freaking me out!

So, I came up with another scheme tonight. I think it is a winner. My wife, well, she was skeptical (nothing new there, she never appreciates them). And no, this is not the one where I trade the RDX in on the new Santa Fe with lots more goodies (and room), Though I think she would go for it!

anyway, my new plan, is to flip the script. My daughter graduates next May (2018), and the Jetta goes back in early July 2018. so she is going to need a car (on her this time, assuming the have a job at graduation deal happens). My car goes back this November, and I won't want to spend too much right then, but probably will need something to replace it.

so instead of getting a cheaper "temporary" car for me, then having to shop for her next summer, then getting antsy to upgrade my wheels, I can reverse the order. Get her a car when she is home in December (that she will take over when she graduates), then I either drive that until she graduates, or take the Jetta over for 6 months.

Then, when the Jetta goes back, I can get whatever I really want next summer (after saving some more money up), and when she graduates, she is already all set and ready to go. No need to rush to find something while she is getting used to a new job.

Only question I need to make sure of is transferring the title if I do this (just want to confirm that there won't be any tax implications or anything. I don't think there will be). Worst case, I can keep her on our policy temporarily. Might require it be a purchase, since a lease might be a bigger problem to swap over.

seems to make sense to me. As long as we can do all the shopping/driving while she is home between semesters, I don't even need her around to do it. I suppose it could backfire though. If she ends up wanting something else, I could get stuck with it!

Now, i do like this one. fewer miles, less money. Probably because of a bump on the carfax. But, if it checks out, I will take the discount on it and be good. At this price point, could just buy it and hang on, financing instead of leasing. I also love the color combo.

OK, I really like this one. Should work for you Bradd. low miles, and based on carfax, you will have about 3 full years warranty, unlimited miles, so if doing 20K/year, you will be good right up to about 80K, and by then, should be paid off. Then another 3 years no payment driving, getting you to about 140,000.

given that they are only asking 22K, I wonder what you can get it for? Get it down to 20, and do it! I'm sure the wife will understand.

I now think that something like this is probably the way I should go. Until I change my mind again. Though I would probably use my local guy, and skip the CPO upcharge.

I did some searching down here. for a nice car, low miles, lots of warranty, and loaded up with the premium and navi, this unit is easily the best listed unit price wise.

yes, that is part of it. She has a good internship for this summer, that we hope will turn into a job offer (normally does). If so, it happens right at the end, So we would need to know for sure by December. No job, no car!

These G37s are a really good bargain. Why would one spend $20k on a new civic when they could get one of these?  My guess is the reliability has to be similar.

BTW, I've stopped looking at all the G37 links that have been posted.

Every time I see one I think ... 'gosh, that would work really well for me'.

As noted in another thread, I've been playing with the "S" mode in my Jetta -it does make the car scoot a bit better, especially from a dead stop.

sandman - was the Chevy Spark you drove an automatic? I don't know what's going on, but the more negative things you say about the Spark the more I want to test drive that pup. Android Auto would be awesome, so would the lane departure and accident avoidance features on the car.

Kansas City is steeped in motorcars and I am a night shift worker. So in the morning I occasionally nod off on the drive home in the morning, when I'm exceptionally tired. So those safety gadgets would be good to have.

My wife and I are looking to buy a house much closer to my work. So that will help. Chevy really outdid theirselves with this latest model of Spark, though. There is a big wallop packed into that $11,100 car.

Update on the kitchen saga - spoke with the project manager yesterday and let him know of our unhappiness with the situation. He asked if we wanted the doors and drawer fronts re-ordered so they can put the right hardware in the right place. Wife and I decided against that.

He wanted to know what "consideration" it would take to make us happy. I asked for $1000 - he said he would have to get approval for that amount. It would be in the form of gift cards from the retailer. Not really what I prefer, but that would get us about halfway to a new refrigerator, which we've been eyeing.

On a related note, while the wife and daughter were out on Saturday, they bought new light fixtures for the kitchen. Son and DIL came over on Sunday and he installed them for us. Makes the kitchen much brighter, and the wife particularly hated the existing fixtures, so that makes a big difference in the overall look of the kitchen.

They also have a 2015 Q40 AWD with 12K miles asking $23,990 with Navigation.

These G37s are a really good bargain. Why would one spend $20k on a new civic when they could get one of these?  My guess is the reliability has to be similar.

I was just thinking about that this AM on my way in.
