I washed the Murano this morning and went in knowing my "liking price" and my "taking price." They hit the very high end of what I was willing to pay, but the car checked out other than needing new tires. I didn't realize they were 19s instead of the standard 18s. Pretty easy deal.

It drives great and cruises comfortably on the interstate at 90. Tons of power, but the auto trans is a little slow to kick down to make it available. It's quieter than the Tahoe with its off-road tires. Ride quality is good for a sports car. I took the back roads from Lawrenceburg to Louisville with the windows down blasting Kesha's new album. I think I like it!

Where do you live? I didn't get any quotes that high to ship halfway across the country. Even 3/4 across country was in the $600-$700 range. I thought I kept the name of the one place I got the best info from but now I can't find it.

there is a site where you can put the job up for bidding. Uship.com maybe?

Well, that's good to know - I didn't really have a frame of reference.

I think Uship.com is one of the sites I went through, so I'll keep a look out for the bids that come in.

"-ish" being the operative suffix there. :D It was insanely unstable compared to Windows 7, 8, 10, or any recent MacOS build.

Nothing was worse than Windows ME. I had to support that when I worked for Pitt during college (why? No idea) and that was the king of BSODs and random USB failures.

I never had ME, went from 98 to XP. I remember the name alone kept me away, and a lot of people had issues with it (I was a student then too).

By the time I started school, XP was the standard. But there was still the holdout that was there to make my life miserable.

@breld, before it goes away, how about a quick summary of your impressions of the GTI? It is on my list - there is actually a demo on a lot here that I hope sticks around for a while - and everyone who has one seems to like it, but I remain interested in first-hand impressions..

Other current and previous owners can chime in too, but the GTI is a very impressive car, particularly at its price point. Performance-wise, it never seems to lack for power in passing maneuvers and getting up to speed in general. Compared to previous cars like my 335 and S4, acceleration isn't anything I feel lacking in the GTI - not saying it's just as quick, but it's certainly more than enough for my needs. Going from the F30 428i to the GTI, my initial impression was that the VW handled tighter, and more like previous generation BMWs.

Given it's FWD, putting all the power down to start off is trickier than, let's say, the S4, but that's to be expected. But it's something you get used to.

Overall balance between sport and comfort is very impressive. I expect the ride in the Type R will be noticeably harsher.

Quality of the interior materials also stands out from the competition.

Tested the battery in the Mustang with my battery analyzer. Can't find a date code to tell how old the Motorcraft battery is, but it is rated at 590 CCA and tested at something like 587. Previous owner must have kept it on a charger.

Pretty sure that in the time I have been trying to nail down my not-so-short list, Breld has bought 2 if not 3 cars. I must be getting soft in my old age.

was working on the wife about upgrading the RDX to something fancier, for her, and I would just get a cheap spare car for local duty. Still have not gotten her to buy in, especially since she has 1 payment left. So I guess I could get something for myself that could replace it, and down the like, swap her into that.

or just get what I want and leave her and her car alone!

RDX will finally crack 40K miles this week (a month short of its 5 year anniversary). Better than our friend that is visiting (who does not like to drive much and won't drive at night). She has a 2011 Forrester, with a whopping 17K on it. She did promise I could have it on a good deal in a year or so if she pulls off her plan to move to Boston.

93K on my wife's 2011 X3. Definitely doing over 15K/yr. Will have to replace it soon-ish. Can't talk her into going down market, unfortunately.

Motor craft batteries last a long time.  My 04 MGM lasted over ten years with the original battery.

As a current MK7 GTI owner, I don't think there is a better balanced sporty car out there for the money, that is also very functional with 4 doors.  The interior materials are top notch and the handling is excellent. I'm not sure I could find better for the $23k new that I paid for it without going with a CPO Audi or BMW.  Maybe the new Civic SI but I think that would feel a bit more raw.

I think the weakspot, if there is one, is the DSG coupled with a car that is FWD.  In my opinion the sport mode is too aggressive and the drive mode is too lazy.  It also starts off in 2nd gear way too often, most likely to prevent wheelspin.

The sweet spot for the 2017s is definitely the Sport manual transmission trim in terms features and price. You get xenons, the sport package, keyless start and Apple car play functionality, all without requiring you to get a hole in the roof (major plus for me).

28ff, you nailed it with your impression of the DSG. In addition to making it easier to kick down, VW/Audi's "sport" mode seems to almost always keep the transmission one gear lower than it would otherwise be in, which is too aggressive for everyday driving.

Ideally it would have a middle mode that makes it easier and faster to kick down (because we know it's capable) without holding a gear lower than necessary and without locking out 6th gear.

Usually go into "S" mode to merge into traffic at certain points on my drive to work but then go back into "D". Can actually see the tach needle drop right after I do this. But does make my Golf get up to speed when needed quicker without that momentary turbo lag, which I hate! Besides this "quirk", love the vehicle so still haven't moved on that Eos yet. As much as I'd love to have both, just the wrong time methinks. But still might go drive it on Wednesday.
Well, time to hit I-75 and go to work!!!

I prefer the ZF 8HP automatic over almost any DCT/DSG I have driven. In my car there is an economy setting, the default comfort setting and two sport settings- plus an additional sport mode for the transmission alone. The comfort setting is just about perfect as far as shift mapping goes if you are just commuting.

The BMW test drives I've taken cause me to agree. Very nice transmission. The 6 sped in the RDX is similar. Works well, crisp, doesn't lug. The sonata is typical economy car. Race to a high gear, hates to drop down.

Marco....Mustang is gone, but not forgotten.

New owner called me yesterday wanting to know if I had the original "Cobra" emblems for the car.

"The original Cobra emblems are ON THE CAR".

He said they weren't. I told him to send a picture of what he was talking about.

Long and short of it, apparently someone stole the Cobra emblems off the quarter panels while he's had it. It definitely had the emblems when he drove it away.

Crazy! Not sure why he would think I had them or took them off somehow since he's owned it.

Same thing in a 2 series. This ne is cheaper but looks like a stripper model. Notvto expensive though. Really don't like black interior. And prefer the sports seats. Not that I am picky or anything.
