My friend received his green MKZ late yesterday, it arrived from Portland. Not without glitches. First: he gets home and tries out the keys. One key works, one doesn't. He is convinced the other key is for an entirely different car. Oops! Next: he claims the dashboard isn't installed right, that it is "off" by some degree. I suppose he might know, as his prior car was an MKZ. Apparently a "concierge" is going to pick it up today for inspection, key correction, and a better detail (he said it was also a little dirty inside, and had obviously been sitting for awhile).
Funny thing; when I was manning the 750i at the hole in one contest a golfer mentioned that his wife bought a Lincoln over a BMW because she preferred the grille on the Lincoln. I'm thinking that Lincoln probably deserves buyers like that- and I'm also certain BMW was fortunate to lose that potential customer.

I tell my kids all the time: "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all."
People seem to feel the need to "put down" other cars because they bought a certain car for one reason or another. There's no such thing as a "perfect" car for everybody.
If he actually test drove the BMW, then I'm sure there was some redeeming quality about it that he liked. Now if he has actual, anecdotal ownership experience that he'd like to share (even if it is negative), that's ok too.

The guy actually said that he preferred the BMW because he liked the way it drove- but the wife's grille preference gave the Lincoln the nod. I resisted the urge to suggest that he might want to consider trading in his wife.

came back from my weekend getaway to see my older brother late last night now to katch up on everything lollollol the Thunderbird is going to an restoration shop on Tuesday they will fully inspect the car want to get it driving and stopping good don't want an show car just an nice driver! not to much to ask for! they will enspect it for free can fix what I want little bye little cool guys have bin around for years the name of the place is Auto Mat in Hiksvill new York. there was one other place was going to call but did not. they will come and flate bed the car for me free to! sick of wating on frends and family that never comne threw! rant over! lollol
@breld man sorry to hear most of the SUVS you wanted to look at over the past weekand wher sold! nice so nice GLK you posted the other day! so your wife might get that one! nice nice have to keep on reading few pages to go! might have it in your garage!
@breld I go away for the weekend and you bye an nother car witch I did see cumming I did call it last week! congrads to you and your wife on the new GLC going back upstate this cumming up weekand are you going to sell the Darango! and have an nother punch! lollollol cante wate to hear all about your road trip to get the latest punch!
Way back when with my 03 Avalon the dealer screwed the key fobs all up. They ended up having to reprogram both and order a new key. I bet it happens often.
the dealer finding a key fob to the RDX they sold us is what started the chain of events leading to me discovering that they gave me the wrong car. Actually, if they had just retagged those keys to the other stock #, would have been a long time before I found out. Not sure what they would have done 6 months later instead of 2 weeks. I guess it would have turned up when they finally sold that car and found the vin already taken!
Thanks @Marcothecarguy1986! No, no, the Durango stays as my practical family hauler.
And now the wife will have a practical car too to accompany her fun MINI. The Beetle Convertible goes to Carmax on Friday - so she will be handing the sale of that around the same time I'm handling the purchase of her replacement!
I know it sounds funny to say, but I do think she'll settle in a bit to the GLC. She's had a string of fun, cute cars that catch her eye mostly from an emotional, "gotta have it" perspective. While a very very nice car, the GLC fits very well for what she "needs" for those days she doesn't feel like driving the MINI on our rush hour commute, or when she needs some extra space for passengers.
To that end, I'm glad she's taking my lead and finally embracing the idea of having two cars - the practical comfy one and a fun one. Better to just have the two then to keep switching out between the two types.
Hey, breld a belated congrats to you on your recent purchase of the Type R Civic! I've been so busy with finishing my certification and then looking for a job, finding a job, and now looking for a house that I haven't told you that yet. Enjoy it! I bet you will!!
@breld you are welcome! cool so for now the darango is going to stay! lollollol glad your wife is happy! with the new car! yes switching out offen like that yes it is fun but shore big pane! to at the same time!
@stickguy that shore does happen quite offen with the rong keys! what happened to you the rong car! happens to but but would like to think mor rair! was the one you had for an few days mor optioned out! lollollol
Thanks @iluvmysephia1 - a big congrats to you too on the new job and new move!
Thanks, breld!
@iluvmysephia1 congrads on the new Job! nice good luck on the house looking!

I think we have found a very helpful and knowledgeable real estate agent and mortgage lender, too. The agent has 13 years experience and she knows what she's doing as far as eastern Washington goes. We both feel really comfortable with her. And the mortgage lender sounds like a family man in his late 30's who's very dedicated to his job and is excited to offer people several different financing packages. Really excited ta get this Seattle Sonic basketball rolling.
I feel that the Sonic's will be coming back - the NBA will be somewhat indifferent, though, if the people involved don't get on the same page. It's between two sites now - the old Key Arena spot - land, because, The Key needs retrofitting big-time ta hit 2020 standards. Earthquake and otherwise.
Sodo Arena would be easier but Seattle's politics are getting messed up with its fruition. I will now be within a fairly short drive of being able ta go to a Sonic's game. The Seahawk's are really hard ta get tickets to. The Mariner's, you might ask? I think my son and I could go poach a M's game pretty much as often as we want.
I think Seattle will get NBA again, and maybe NHL too. Even a decade ago, it didn't nearly have the support for the latter, and the former could be tenuous. But since, population has grown so much, a critical mass probably exists enough to make a team viable. All the better if the owner actually funds the arena, and not the taxpayer via bizarro world reverse socialism.
I went to an M's game about a month ago. Definitely not sold out. Hawks are big because they are good. The bandwagon here can be amusing.

@nyccarguy - enjoy it! Those middle school years pass FAST! My oldest just started his freshman year and my youngest is already onto his second year of middle school. Cannot believe it!
For that matter, can't believe my stepdaughter is starting her second year of college! (Though I'm okay with that, since it means we're that much closer to the end of tuition payments!)
Sam turned 7 months last week already - feels like I'm losing track of time. He's gone from being this grabby sack of potatoes to crawling everywhere, standing up, and really exploring the world around him. His personality is also really starting to show - always smiling and giggling.

The Cadillac sales guy, who I really don't want to have anything to do with after the recent debacle, is on me like a bad smell, calling constantly, telling me they have even sweeter incentives now, asking me to please come in, sit down and talk. I really don't want to, but have to admit I'm undecided. I really don't want the one he was trying to sell me (which is still gathering dust on their lot) but they have a different ATS there that kind of appeals to me, and which is about $5K less pricey. There's a part of me that says it makes sense to get into a new one even though I like mine. The new one has a couple of things mine doesn't that would be nice to have. If they could do an appropriate deal, maybe I should hold my nose and go in.
Road trip for the GF and I this long weekend, my favorite place; Vermont. Staying at a B&B, going to local theater Saturday night. Sunday looks iffy weatherwise, if not too bad some "Adventure" time at one of the big ski areas is a possibility. Or some time at a small lake/state park. She knows none of this, I just told her I'll pick her up at 11 and off we go!
Of course, I have to be ever so careful not to spin stories of meeting my ex. in VT, nor of the many years we spent there skiing, summering and just so enjoying...
My daughter graduated college in May, we just dropped our son at his University a week ago. So, we're halfway through our 8 year tuition plan. Bad plan. But good kids!

I used the old Bobst method for the buy: I gave them one offer and didn't budge. They came back with two counters. Then they complained about how much they were losing, couldn't I finance it so they could get the kick back, etc. The usual stuff. Eventually, they agreed.
2017 Toyota 86. Used. 5100 miles. Red with the 6MT. $20.5k. I couldn't even find any values for used 17's anywhere online, but I saw lots of 15 and 16's listed for more. MSRP was a bit over $27k. I feel good about it the deal, and really enjoy driving the car. It is really a go kart.

I hear you. I took a date to my local art museum and realized as I was planning it that the last time I was there was with my ex. Luckily, once we got there and started talking to each other, those thoughts vanished from my mind!
