The only difference I see is that one is an orphaned vehicle and the other one soon will be...
But wait---where's my $1000 deposit and my Brave New World future?

I like that Durango for some strange reason, would be fun...for awhile. Breld, I'll be in the minority here and am not that hot on the blue on the wife's Volvo, just prefer a darker blue like I've got. Would it make me not buy it if I were interested, hard to say. It's a beautiful vehicle though and am sure she's loving it which is all that matters.
The mirror came in this morning, just got a call. They will paint it and I'll drop the Golf off next Wednesday morning as they only need it about 6 hours. Will be glad to get this done already and have been super careful pulling in and out of our garage. Now, I'll have to wait at least 6 weeks until I wax it again to let the paint cure.
Lastly, was walking towards the Golf today in a parking lot and I was so happy, I really love this vehicle and though I am still lusting for a BMW, I really am happy with what I've got. Coming up on it's third anniversary with us, and am very happy, still. Friday will be the Audi's third birthday and so far, no issues to speak of. She does need 3 new sneakers but the wife is waiting for some reason, starting next week, she'll be working out of the house 90% of the time so she figures she can push it off a bit. Unlike me who bought mine a bit prematurely but I wanted the piece of mind which I've got now. And so far the run flats have been flawless.

Yeah, but it’s basically one of these in SUV form:

I’m not sure how the depreciation is on Grand Cherokee SRTs, but I have to think it’ll be higher of a hit on the Durango.  I think the grand Cherokee image lends itself better to the performance model and has a wider audience than a Durango that has fewer fans.

So, that’s to say a highly depreciated used Durango SRT is a year or two could become attractive.

Speaking of high priced SUV's my BIL is going to be in town for work next week and wants to kill some of his downtime with a test drive. Their Enclave lease runs until July but he's estimating they will be over miles by February so they are planning to park it until they turn it in. He's looking at the Q7 and he wants the driver assist nannies and virtual cockpit so I'm sure that's pushing $70K at that point.

If time allows I want to test drive this.

I really like the color of @breld's wife's Polestar Volvo. It's unique and you could certainly can see it in a parking lot against the sea of white and silver cars around today. It just looks distinctive.

I drove a Forte before getting the Jetta 2 years ago. It was actually pretty nice. Very well equipped. For someone like Mrs. Sandy (from what he describes) I think it would be a perfectly fine replacement, since I really doubt that she will notice the under the skin differences.

    It's hard to say.

On the one hand, something compelled Mrs. Sandy to get the A3 in the first place. Obviously she liked it or she wouldn't have bought it.

Those same qualities may be missing in the Forte.

On the other hand, maybe they'll be good enough and she won't care. Maybe she only bought the Audi because it was convenient at the time.

I know I'd like my next DD to be an upgrade from the current Kia. But I also wouldn't mind a TTRS upgrade to the TTS :open_mouth:

Those types of dreams and hallucinations only become more absurd if I spend more money on a DD.

My son seems to have a desire to go all Breld on me. He is taking a few days extra at Thanksgiving and coming down to visit us. Mentioned hanging out on Saturday, and his desire is to go check out an S3 he has his eye on. Considering his A3 is not yet one year old, probably not the smartest idea. Might have to convince him to start leasing instead, since I don't think he will ever keep a car more than 3 years anyway, that at least could keep him from too many moves!

pretty sure that moving from a low miles 1 YO loaded A3 to an S3 is going to require at least $20k. For a performance increase he probably can never actually use! Better off buying a new exhaust and a factory supported chip to get close for 1/10th the price.

Putting in 2 to 3 grand on the A3 turning it into a modded A3 that performs like an S3 would be the way to go. Might take more like 5 grand to do it convincingly though.

I think they want to get something different this time. This is their second Enclave and prior to this they did have an older Q7 that they really liked but got rid of because they needed a three-row SUV due to a second child and two dogs.

I am also thinking he needs to check out the Volvo XC90. I don't know if he's leasing or buying but if he's leasing I know there were some ridiculous deals on them a few months back.

Gotcha, makes sense.   After two I’m done as well.  I can’t see getting a third.  My 2015 and 2017 are basically identical vehicles except the 2017 has a few extras.

First time I’ve ever done that.  I had two Avalons back to back but the 03 and 06 were radically different.

We’ve also had two Elantras but again big differences between an 08 and a 2017.

Yep, at the time, the Mrs. wanted a small vehicle and the Forte was her choice until I mentioned the A3. Loved the size and the safety nannies and having the Audi store so close kinda sealed the deal. In order for them to sell at her price, went to another Audi store and found an identical vehicle, just black over black, and told them we're buying today and if you won't do the deal like she wants, we'll just get this one. Bluffing of course as the black over black was just not what she had in mind but would've taken it if she had to. After a few minutes waiting for a call back, we were about to walk in and do the deal. Phone rings, they agree to her terms, we say fine and leave. Our bluff worked!!
And it is a nice vehicle. Who knows, I might even end up with it! Doubt that would ever happen but one never knows. It's a great vehicle but really want auto start/stop and a USB port in my next vehicle. Anyways, we're not doing anything for a couple of years I would think unless I find something I just gotta have!!!

I have a button to turn it off for each driving session in the ATS but no longer bother shutting it off. I don't like it because of the shudder it causes sometimes when it restarts, but you get used to it I guess. I question how much fuel it actually saves.

You can turn my wife’s off, and don’t have to reset it, each time. I started leaving it enabled when I drove her car, and now she leaves it enabled, as well. We’ve had the car for two months and just got used to it.

Occasionally, she will disable it, if stuck in rush hour traffic, where you are constantly creeping forward.

you must not live on a planet with high global warming. the air conditioner stops working efficiently when the engine is off, and that's just the start of my peeves with the feature.

I don't like the intrusive nature of the feature, turning my car off without permission, turning it on again (which tends to cause extra unnecessary vibrations).

I like the idea that I'm not burning up battery power at every stoplight, nor my starter. Also, you have to be stopped for near a minute to really see any fuel savings. You probably have a net loss at short stops.

Push button start is indeed awesome, especially when coupled with a keyless entry system. Sure it is more vulnerable to theft, but nice convenience. Combine it with a power trunk closer that also locks the car for optimal ease of use.

Start/stop doesn't bug me, but the way it messes with my dashcam can be irritating, as the cam thinks I am parking the car.
