like the color on the Benz. snazzy car. doesn't seem like it should be too problematic. Just the V6 which is supposedly bulletproof, and even RWD for less complexity.

This is quite a bit of sexy for $18k.
Color is a bit dreary, though, don't you think? Yet another gray car on the road. Let's get crazy and try something else:
Gray is better than silver or black, at least. I would prefer blue or red, but you know the used-car drill: color is the least of considerations.

Eh, 6 yrs old is nothing. My wife's DD is a 9-yr-old British car, so there is little I'm scared of.

Low options just adds to the reliability factor. :)

You got that right. When some of these "toys" go south, your credit card balance will head north. My manual seat adjuster has yet to break. :p

I just installed mudguards on the Mini. They look really cool. A necessity, really. Somehow, the air flow over and under the car takes every speck of road dirt, rain or mud and plasters it mercilessly to the tailgate and back window. I think Mini should have installed a putty knife instead of a rear wiper.

I can see his fleet turning over once this year, but Lord knows I've underestimated his capacity to pull the trigger.

well, every year I think it is the year that there will be a crash. And I am stubborn, so I will once again double down on the bet. Even though I expect to be on of the 35! Maybe not though, if the daughter buys her own car and I keep mine (I don't think that will count).

I wouldn't worry about things like keyless-go or xenons being a trouble spot - 2012 still had bundled options, and P2 gave you a lot of stuff.

I won't be a punch this year, barring any crazy events - lease isn't technically up until 2019, not sure what will happen then. Not planning on buying another hobby car, I've been good at resisting motorcycles.

I'm going to go with 33 as my guess.

I peg our chances at a punch at 80% after the holidays showed us how much we need an SUV; 2 kids, a dog, and needing 2 trips from my parents with gifts and food will do that :) Not going with 100% due to some large home projects we have scheduled but it's more likely than not we'll replace the Altima. Going to try to hold off until the fall though.

I’m on the sidelines for 2018. I did a lot of horse trading in 2017. However, if I have successful eye surgery, and I feel comfortable without LKAS type assists, I may look for another used muscle car, preferably a ‘vert, most definitely a manual trans.

I'll go with 29 for my guess for 2018 punches.

I won't make any declaration for myself - at the start of 2017 I claimed that we would have a low year with 1-2 punches, and then the wife and I proceeded to have a record year.

I do think the MINI stays for the entire year. Probably the Polestar too, but I wouldn't put it past my wife to want to go cheaper on that front.

For me? Replacing the Type R is not as sure of a thing as @stickguy seems to think :) , but it's certainly a possibility. All it would probably take is something like a m235i showing up used in the right color combo, right price and right transmission. Those don't show up everyday, but it's not all that rare either.

On the SUV front, I do like the Q7 and XC90, and as more examples (of the current gens) start showing up on the used market, my interest is definitely piqued. But I'm not nearly as anxious as you might think (or I would have thought) to get out of the Durango. The R/T version definitely offers a unique experience.
