We probably have the least desirable color (blazing blue), and even that doesn’t look bad on a Tacoma

My '05 Mazda 6 was Blazing Copper and I picked that over black, white, or blue. That's as adventurous as I've been with car colors. The two cars preceding the Mazda were black and then the next three were white, black, and now white again.

    ZZZZZZZZZZZ - humph?

    Colors?

Seems like if you offer it, they won't come.

Doesn't seem like that long ago where silver was a desirable color. Now every 4th car on the road is silver, and 2.5 of the other 3 are white, black or some shade of gray.

When I got my Jetta last year, I had the choice of getting blue or red - wife shot those colors down so I ended up with gray.

If you don't custom order your car, unfortunately a neutral color is what you will end up with.

The used car market is particularly annoying to me because of this, because you can't custom order a used car like you can with new. If I liked black and/or white it wouldn't be a problem.

Luckily I get to decide the color of my vehicle but so does the wife with hers. She almost settled on a black over black for her A3 until the nearer dealer gave in to her offer. We were at a farther store waiting to get it done but decided to give our local store one more chance to come to our terms. Once they heard we were at the other store, they put us on a brief hold, then came back on and said c'mon over and let's do the deal with your numbers. The rest is history and we're happier to be using the store we could actually walk to if we had the gumption...it's about 3 miles north of us. Service has been super easy as besides oil changes/rotations and free car washes, the A3 has been absolutely flawless unlike mine. The plan for me to take over her A3 after she tires of it is still floating around out there and could actually happen. Trust me, I'd get used to the awkward rear view mirror and not having a hatch in no time flat. Her mileage is trailing mine by almost 2K, another advantage. And since they're both the same size, fitting on my side of the garage ain't an issue. Plus, if we do end of moving to the west coast or central Florida, that might not even matter especially if we get a larger condo. I'm sure most garages aren't set up like ours either where two full size vehicles can fit in without any issues.
This could or could not happen...time will tell!!

Andres three you are right unfortunately you’re going to get blamed boring colors if you don’t custom order your car most of the time once in a while they might have interesting color on the lot but that’s where that I’ve seen like that burnt copper orange color myself think ford as a version of that and I think Nissan my two on some of their cars not on all not sure about any other brands

Got a bunch of new 2018 models in Ft. Lauderdale the last few days. Saw/sat in some today. Seems like Kia has a new "S" class for their 4 door sedan. Comes with plainish wheel covers but not a bad vehicle, fleet price showed $16,995. Interior was up to date though a bit plasticky in places but everything was where it should be. The infotainment center looks like a tablet and very current to the modern trend of these things now. Seats were pretty comfortable I must say and a pretty decent rental vehicle. All Kia needs to do is put real alloys on these and it would make it look 100% better. The Sportage is basically the same as the 2017 model and in my mind, one of the best values for one looking for a CUV right now. Sticker showed $24,995 which is a screaming bargain especially with the nice looking 17" alloys it's shod with, think they look better than the 18"and 19"offerings!! Good job Kia!!
For the same sticker price, they had the new 2018 Camry LE again, with nice alloys instead of the plastic hub caps. Toyota hit a grand slam here and they drive as good as they look. Personally, if I were looking for a midsize sedan today, I'd go Camry, even over the Accord and Optima which I really also like. But my dollars would go to Toyota for 2018.
There were 3 Range Rover Evoques, all in black, with a sticker of $49,995. Prefer the white as it looks so much better in that color. I love the way these puppies drive but way too rich for my blood and don't think going the CPO route would make me happy. I'd really want to own one new to be honest.

So an update about the TLX. I made a deal on a 2015, White, 4 cylinder with 28k miles. Price is a tad under $20k. I didn't haggle, as I felt it was a fair deal.

I put the deposit down last week, but they still haven't gotten the car, and they keep saying "It will be here any day." How do they not know where it is, or when they expect it to arrive? I have dealt with logistics in my line of work, and you can definitely get an ETA on freight, and I would think car freight would be exactly the same.

I have started to look elsewhere because I'm getting impatient with this dealer. If I gave someone the VIN, would they be able to tell me where they bought it from? Even if it was in California, it should be able to make it to NY in one week.

They obviously had bought it last Friday, because it was on their website, which was how I came across it.

Well with the A4 I was at the mercy of what was on the lot. It was a manual Brilliant Black or an automatic silver, white, brown, or black. With the TLX I wanted a Still Blue Night (blue pearl) but the dealer that had that car didn't want to play ball so I was stuck with my second choice, white pearl.

Wow, that is cheap, even with their $600 "conveyance fee." My ideal vehicle is black or white exterior with a black interior. I know I said I didn't want to settle on color, but for that price, I could get over it. Everyone has a price as they say.

I wonder if it has a clean Carfax though, because it's so cheap. Does anyone have a subscription that could check to see if it has an accident history? They don't have a link with the posting, which typically means they don't want to show you.

Nice, my backyard. They must have some pressure to get rid of the cars. I saw it on the website, I forgot C-class has a different option configuration than E and others, no Distronic. Oh well. Still quite loaded, and it appears you have the classy and subtle illuminated star. I'll be interested to see the deal.

Okay. Long story short, here is the deal. Normally I don’t brag about numbers but this was crazy.

    MSRP: $54,150

    Sale Price: $42,277

    Fleet Rebate: $2500

    Acquisition Fee: $1095

MF before MSD: .00129 (yes, I know it’s marked up substantially but the discount more than compensates)

    MF after 10 MSD: .00059

Residual (adjusted for 5640 miles): $35,211

    Monthly Including 10.3% Tax: $291.04

Due at signing: $5000 ($3500 MSD + first month + tags + doc fee + tax on rebate)

Car has Sport Package, AMG multispoke wheels, P3, pano roof, power rear sunshade, illuminated star, and LED projector logo.

They gave me $17k for the GTI and will be giving me a check for $3000 difference. Quick pic from the detail area...more pics and details once it’s light out and I have 10 seconds to myself.

    In short, a no brainer...

That is an amazing deal. Yes, massive discount makes up for the inflated MF. You plan on posting that in the C-class lease thread as a reference point?

    Major congrats on the punch!

Hard to tell with the lighting - is that black over black?

here you go. looks clean. under bumper to bumper warranty for another 10+ months too. Much better sounding deal!

FYI, a lot of times dealers link the carfax on cars.com listings, but not their own sites for some reason.

It is a used car, so I would think it is coming on a trade and they are awaiting the arrival of the new car that customer is trading in on.

Question is: how/why did you make a deal on a used car you have not even seen?

The local used car I post links to often has cars up (without pictures) listed as "coming soon". I assume they are units that they bought at the auction (or whichever source coming from) but just have not arrived at their facility or been detailed up. You can leave a deposit to hold it, pending seeing in person of course.

not really any different than making a deal over the phone or via Email. Always going to be contingent on inspecting in person (at least if I am doing it!)

Thanks all!  I will be posting in the C-Class Board later today, but with the caveat that this deal is not easily replicated. I’d been watching this and several other models waiting for a unicorn deal. That said, any one can do it - the framework is there. I forgot to add this is a 24/10 lease, which given my habits is just fine.

Car is black over black, which isn’t my first choice. But, with the dark color, dark wheels, and the not-tacky-at-all LED logo projector it kind of looks like the bat mobile.

The interest rate required some negotiation. They wanted .00169 which was not acceptable to me. I was fine with giving them something given the steep discount. We basically met in the middle.

The trade required no effort at all. Showed CarMax offer and they said “done”.

See. That’s the beauty of it. The sale price was within 500 of their advertised price. The only point that was really negotiated, the MF, I did over the phone. They really were much more reasonable on that point when they realized I wasn’t dead set on buy rate.

@stickguy is correct - I put a $500 refundable deposit down on it, and will bring a bank check for the balance. But, if I feel the car is misrepresented in any way, I'll just walk. Not that I want to after driving 4 hours, but it's a risk I'm willing to take.

scope out the one in Ct. too. if you are saving a couple grand, worth a call! I think the gray interior on those is sharp with the black exterior. Gives it a little contrast, but not everything is gray either. But as always, buy what makes you happy.

You got a hell of a deal there - I will have to remember that if I re-up a lease when the current one is up (not til June 19, although who knows what pull forward may exist at the time). I know the MSD route isn't standard for MB, either.

I'd decode your VIN to see exactly what your car has, but it is already off the site. I am not sure of parktronic on that car, if the bumper has spaces but no sensors, or if it is simply disabled in the car. Search for "Mercedes VIN Decoder Kiev", insert your VIN, and check the build sheet.

No distronic, though I have what looks like backup sensors without them actually being backup sensors?

He ends up with a $36.5K Tacoma TRD Sport that's pretty well equipped for $275/month for 36 months and 10K/year and only first payment, DMV, and a $250 doc fee which is standard in Ohio I think.

The Ohio law does NOT require dealers to charge any fee; rather it allows them to charge up to $250. The previous ORC (Ohio Revised Code) that was used by dealers to excuse a fee actually was written to apply only toward the cost of a time contract (loan) sale. The dealers talked as fast as a middle schooler caught with cigarettes in their pocket explaining how they have to charge it one and all or someone can sue for discrimination (they should go to DC as politicians as fast as they talk). Then a few years back the legislators in Ohio rewrote the section, but it still does NOT MANDATE the charge. When I tell them I have a copy of the applicable ORC section in my folder and they can read it if they want, they smile and continue with bottom line negotiations.

I just explain I negotiate the bottom line and ignore their fee. That worked on the last two purchases. They lower their profit and show the fee on the final document.

Know the fee, then incorporate it into your offer. I almost always buy in Ohio, so I know it's coming. That way, I don't even have to discuss it. Or, carry a copy of the ORC. ;)

Yeah...dealers pulled that ploy on me for years. When you call their bluff on the doc fee being mandatory or the idea others would sue them for discrimination if they don’t charge it, they rework their paperwork.

My Acura and BMW dealers don’t even bother to put it in my deals with them any more because they know my “One offer-all in” deal preferences.

@28firefighter ...that is such a cool car and a great deal...BIG CONGRATS!

@fintail - so I can’t tell. The car has parking sensors front and rear (not just cutouts) and it even looks like it has the forward facing camera. But for the life of me they don’t seem activated and I don’t see anything in the build sheet.

If the VIN doesn't decode to parking sensors or parktronic etc, you don't have it. You should also have a button on the dash to disable it (I don't know exactly where it is on a W205) - without that, you don' have it. But if your bumpers show it, you should have it - I can quickly find pics of 17 models without sensors in the bumper, so it isn't there by default.
