I’m 6’, but long torso relative to legs. So I sit “tall”. Still my 2001 Miata was torture. Absolutely no room for my legs. I had to drive with my knees splayed out. Newer models were better.

The integra was a headroom issue. Had to really recline the seat a lot more than I preferred.

I know a few of you have been mentioning motorcycles lately.  What do you think of this 2009 Harley Davidson 883L (XL883R Replica) with only 5,285 miles?  (Not for me, just a general question).  My friend purchased this bike 2 years ago.  It runs perfect.  He’s asking $3K for it.

Well, I'm rather heavily biased against Harleys to begin with, but I have ridden a fair number (which is WHY I'm biased :p ) but on a bike like this, with relatively low miles and a reasonable price, you might enjoy puttering around town on it. It is most definitely NOT a touring bike--100 miles and you are done unless you have a lot of endurance for vibration and noise and spine punishment.

As a fun toy, why not? It's not fast, but fast enough, or comfortable, but good enough for short trips, or particularly reliable (not bad though and parts are plentiful).Any decent Japanese or German or Italian touring bike with decent miles is going to cost you a lot more.

I don't know anything about motorcycles, but this seems more like a ride around town bike than a touring bike?

I like those legacies. Fun. And such old school tech. Not even blue tooth, hard to get used to that!

Lots of miles on this one. At least the head gaskets are not as old, since for some reason, that car had a new engine installed at 25k.

Is a 2009 of the vintage where the engines tended to go bad prematurely?

looks like fun. as long as someone else is paying the repair bills. man is that engine wedged in tight.

I am more and more a fan of small 4s with big turbos in this size car. probably just about as fast too.

BaT has a way of doing that to you. There have been a couple like that, where I would love to have it, but with 4 days left it already blew through my meager budget. And/Or it is on the west coast.

So the person selling the 350z reached out to me - he had a delay getting it on the market, but it's still available. The option there I had been thinking about was leasing a Forester XT Premium for DD duty and getting a fun third car.

It seems like a great idea, in theory, but I have no idea when I'd drive a third car...

Also, I just looked the dealer up. They don’t negotiate and do not have a great reputation.
No negotiation on a car they are asking $6k-$7k profit on? Hope they really really like it because it will be there a LOONNG time.

Benz transfer was credit approved, so just now waiting on docs to sign. Planning to execute the transaction at the buyer's bank (BoA) - he can give me a cashier's check/cash that I can see drafted and they'll notarize the papers for us. Then we FedEx those back and await the final registration process.

Looks like 10-14 business days total if we are prompt.

While there isn't a huge rush because I can rent a car if need be, I'd like to button something down. What I really want (a Forester XT with a Manual) doesn't exist. Planning to drive a Civic Si, but other than that I'm not sure what good options I have new that are reasonably within my budget.

As far as I can tell, my options would be:
    Accord Sport 2.0T
    Civic Si
    Subaru WRX
    Subaru Forester 2.5i
    VW Alltrack (probably used)
    Used A4
    Used 3-series

Then if I want to go older, much older, we're back to things like the Viggen, Volvo S60/V70/S40 T5 (which doesn't seem to exist), Audi, BMW.

There is nothing super appealing that I really WANT. I guess what I really want is my GTI back with a 6spd, but its really too tight in the back seat.

    Thoughts?

Oh, I don't think the BAT is all that clean--it's dinged up, has a few dents, wheel clearcoat is peeling off, front spoiler is damaged.

It's not easy to find ANY 1999 car with low miles--that's 20 years ago! I'd suggest picking a cleaner one, even if higher mileage.

Here's a low mileage one in AZ--maybe you could hammer it down to $5K. It's been up a week already.

Yeah, I get that---but on cars that are quite common, I don't understand outlier prices.

Outlier prices are to be expected now and then with rarer vehicles because there aren't many points of sale for buyers to reference. But if you do a quick search on CL or Car Gurus for GS-Rs and you still bid $8500 for something less than clean----well, that's just being lazy with your money habits.

BUT, you have a far clearer idea of what you are getting when looking at BaT, so it would seem. It opens up your buyer pool to more than just locals who are willing to make the trip based on a lousy 2-line ad and 3 dark pics.

It’s the older 2.0T and the interior is entirely to Jetta-y. I think what will really hit the spot is a new GLI based on the new design.

agreed. Pretty low cost. Might lose a few $$ on it, but if you keep it 6 months and lose $2k flipping it, that is still less than you would have spent on the MB lease.
