@breld - here’s one at the dealer near me.  Not the missus color preference with low miles, but they seem to be ASKING (Remember what Ace Ventura said) the king’s ransom for it.  Not THAT much less than a new one, right?

I like that color for sure.  Another one exclusive to the R.

And yes, at that asking price, a new facelifted 2018 would be the way to go for sure.

Gotta be honest: I don't see the point to the V60 and Golf R and an SUV all coexisting in the household. Much redundancy.
Really?  I mean, yes on the Polestar and Golf R, though the manual trannie adds something unique.  But it’d really be a nice contrast for me between the Q7 and Golf.

At some point, whether sooner or later, I think we’d like to have a stick shift again.  For now the pull on our third car is between staying electric or going all out fun.

This is a pretty color combination - service history looks solid.  Dirty Car Fax & 60K Miles are the downside:

For some reason, I was thinking it was a Q5. Think I'm getting mixed up with your previous SQ5 and your wife's potential future SQ5. I didn't even mention the Prius. 3 hatchbacks, essentially. But, specifically, yes, the R and volvo seem redundant to me, regardless of transmission. I'd still personally much rather have the volvo. If you have them at the same time, I'd suggest holding for a while to determine which is preferred. I get the feeling the VW will be sitting a lot.

@breld - I know you and the wife have an itchy trigger finger.  I’m far from the resident “Volvo Enthusiast,” but I thing that Polestar is a pretty special car.  Tread carefully!

    Thanks Q and @nyccarguy.

You’re absolutely right on the itchy trigger finger. We just get in the mode and feed off each other.

Consistent with pretty much everyone’s take here...with all the musings and back and forth this past weekend, my wife did land at a place where she appreciates the Polestar and knows there would be significant remorse over trading out of that too quickly.

Wise advice on holding both to determine the preference.

Though not sure the VW would be sitting a lot - if my wife’s not driving it, I would whenever I could.  It’d take the place of the Civic Type R nicely, with the added benefit of not receiving unwanted attention on the road.

Uh-oh. The wheels are turning this evening. Here are a couple of interesting things...

    1. Can currently lease a loaded Pacifica Limited for nearly $200 less than our current loan payment on the T&C, sign and drive.
    2. Just got a quote from Carvana for nearly $18k for our T&C, which is a little above auction value and $2k above our loan balance.

Hey, FF, know any Chrysler brokers? ;)

Just awaiting the wife's thumbs up. It is possible she'll say no, thinking that we'd at least have some time without payments when the T&C is paid off. I'm left wondering how long that would last, though.

They're going to give you $18k for a 2014 T&C? Sounds high, sounds like the kind of offers that CarMax used to make. I'll have to remember to try them the next time I want to unload a vehicle, I used to use CarMax, and these days more to TexasDirectAuto.

The new Pacifica's are really nice, no question about it. I thought about it, but the total difference jumping from my 2016 T&C into a new Pacifica was just more than I wanted to get into.

And, of course, a lease isn't going to happen here in Texas, out of the question.

Good luck with your (potential) deal!

Yup. That's what they said. I have the quote saved. I also have a query out to Honcker regarding their lease quote. They are showing me a white over mocha Limited with Safety and Entertainment packages for a shade under $500/mo with first month at signing, 36mo/15k. My query to them is what incentives that involves. By my calculations, I should be able to get to about $485 on my own without too much work. But if they have not already incorporated the $1k competitive lease incentive, their number could come out even better.

Got a reply. I had asked about incentives and also how I can find how far away the dealership is. They say in their FAQs that if you are more than 25 miles away, you'd have to go get it. For all I know, the quote is for a dealership 1000 miles away. His answer does not agree with their FAQ, which states you have 12 hours to cancel.

The Honcker platform applies all incentives and rebates that you would qualify for, including Conquest and Loyalty. The reason we can do this is when you are registering in the app, you would add that you have any existing lease or owned vehicles. From there, the system will know you have this and apply any applicable rebates based on this information (in addition to military and student discounts).

Once you place an order and upload documents, we would be happy to disclose the distance from the dealership. The great thing about Honcker is you can cancel the lease at any time!

If you aren't pressed for time I'd try to replicate or do better than Honcker first since you can at least control the where, when, and what.

Honckr is a great concept and has generally been known to work well. However, there have been issues with lags in the system in terms of inventory not updating and vehicles not being available. You really have to watch it for the deals because they get posted and disappear fairly quickly especially in the sub-300 pricepoint.

They offered less than wholesale for my Tahoe, so I guess it evens out. I’m still planning on keeping it for a while, anyway.  On the Mustang, it looks like they are way overpaying for the low miles, which is fine by me.

Per the reviews I read online, somebody shows up with a truck, drives your car around the block, and hands you a check.

I guess we’ll find out. Vroom’s offer was $15k, which is about what I’d expect as a normal trade in offer. Vroom appears to have choked on the request for a bid on the Tahoe, lol, guess they don’t want an old truck with 124,000 miles on it.

Most late model dealers don't want anything with 100K+ miles. They can't finance it without going sub-prime.

Part of the glut of Stelvio inventory is not related to demand and more due to two factors: (1) Early Stelvios were not CarPlay and Android Auto compatible, and (2) There was a stop sale on Stelvios for a while due to a water intrusion issue. That caused a build of inventory once the stop sale was lifted.

In the process of accepting, right now. They ask for photos of your ID, both sides of the title (if you live in a state where the lienholder doesn't hold the physical title), odometer, 10-day payoff, and vehicle registration. Seems pretty straightforward so far!

...and done! They are supposed to contact me within 24 hours to schedule a pickup.
