My wife drove my Q7 a bit last week and a lot over this past weekend, and now she wants something like it.
Don't know if it's this week, this month, or next Spring, or somewhere in between, but it looks like that will be happening at some point.
Likely candidates are the Q5/SQ5, though she's also looked at pretty much every other SUV in that class as well.
Pricing on the Audi e tron quattro will be released in exactly one week, with deposits (refundable) being accepted at that point. Since she had one of the upcoming VW electronic vehicles in mind, that may be an ideal move, depending on pricing of course.
So the other issue is, the Polestar and Golf R may be on their way out depending on the direction she goes. There's been a lot of talk regarding folks eyeing those vehicles - this could turn out to be premature, but figured it may be appropriate to guage any legitimate interest.

Yeah, definitely a direct competitor. We're a bit disenchanted with JLR based on our recent experience, but she did say she liked the look of the I-Pace. Probably wishful thinking, but we're hoping the eTron comes in a bit lower than the I-Pace price-wise.

Thanks for the warning..
That's exactly what it's meant to be. Cause everyone here knows how impulsive efficient we can be. Wouldn't want to jump at a strong trade offer if someone here is actually interested in a roadtrip from Denver.

The E-tron is based on a vehicle that came out in 2006, and hasn't changed very much.
I know, because I had a 2013 model (you know, with a diesel)
I think you're referring to the plug-in hybrid A3 sportback e-tron? The naming convention Audi is going with is totally confusing, but the eTron quattro is this:

Good thing @breld doesn't live in Nova Scotia with its 15% sales tax rate, because turning over cars that frequently would get real expensive real fast.. OTOH, if he did, perhaps the govt here would not be in such a financial bind.
No surprise grilled me. It again very soon possibly by the end of this week, keep up the great work thrilled you and your wife will check back in here later in the week hope everyone’s doing well, still working at the old job and job hunting. Enjoying life to the full list. Have a good week everyone.
Went to a car show this weekend the header on that nationals, upstate you’re my brother. What’s a good time I put some pictures on Facebook if anyone wants to see. Not sure how to post them on here will need a little assistance with that. They’re doing a burnout contest down the street a bunch of people with old and new cars, was awesome to listen fun time then the cops came and ruined it so I’m glad we went when we did.
I seem to have a taker on the truck. He can't take possession until 10/3 due to a business trip, but he is submitting the paperwork to Ford now. I'll get a little over $1200 cash out of the deal. At least I can tell my wife that is about 6 mos of the "extra $200/mo" for my Alfa.

Soooo I might be shopping in the next few weeks, as the V70 is about to become a money pit sooner than later. Unsure whether I should find my way to another Volvo (a '15-17 model of either of the wagons) or make the switch to Subie (a '15-17 Outback, most likely). Giving better than 50/50 odds on a punch before the end of October. So many of the dealers around here suck.

I had forgotten that the G35/37, Q40, and Z cars are based on the Skyline platform. Truly a modern four door sports car, which is what the Maxima used to be, before it became a much uglier Avalon competitor destined for the rental fleets.

How far back are you reaching? Maxima has been FWD for decades now and NOT a sportscar.
Speaking of others, I wonder if Nissan plans to ever move forward with their RWD platform. Hold old is that now? 20 years?
EDIT: just looked it up. 18 years. Good grief.

I don't know if my '98 SE was a sports car, but it was fast and had a stick shift. And handled well for a barge. so at least qualified as a sports sedan at the time.
So all my Volvo and Outback talk, yet when I contemplate the 8-speed Volvo tranny or the Outback's CVT (and ability of the 3.6 models to knock on the top of my price point), suddenly these start to look like a lot of car for the money.
I like the Volvo myself. and for the RDX, get at least the tech package if you get one. IMO no reason to avoid the AWD. a little extra maintenance doing rear diff and transfer case fluid changes on occasion, but not very significant in the long run. I suppose it helps a bit in snow or wet roads, but not sure I have ever really noticed having it.
Bought an air filter for the G37 (I don't trust the K&N that the previous owner installed), popped the hood and started to install it. Thought to self: "Gosh, that's a really tiny air filter for such a large engine." Then saw the second air intake and second air filter housing on the other side of the engine bay. D'oh!
As most of us do, I appreciate the Stinger. And I can see any one of us in this group picking up a used model that has experienced a nice chunk of Kia depreciation. What I wonder is who is buying these new? I mean, what else are they considering - is it really attracting those who are otherwise looking at the 4-series GC, or is it folks coming in the Kia dealership browsing for an nice Optima, and they are seduced by the sexier Stinger?
By the way @nyccarguy - how long have you had the Q40 now? I know you really like it, but are you getting an itch?

You know it is funny you mentioned the Q40. I have had it for almost a year & a half, but who is counting? Yesterday, my wife went to take it to run an errand. She got in the Q40 and noticed my older son's hockey equipment was in the trunk. So she got out and hopped into her Pilot which was parked in front of the Q40. She fired up the Pilot, put it into reverse (this doesn't end well folks), backed into my Infiniti, then checked the backup camera. Looks like I'll have to have the bumper cover repaired and repainted (hopefully the plastic retaining clips didn't break) and a new grille installed. I also noticed my front left Blinker is out. Oh well. At least nobody got hurt. There were a bunch of rock chips that needed to get fixed anyway...
So I took my son to practice and was talking to his coach from last year. He said: "you keep your cars in good shape, any chance you want to sell the Black one?" I told him "no. Let me get the bumper fixed, then we can talk. But right now I'm not looking to sell it.
Now my question is, do I stick with the Chrome Gille or go with the Black Sport Grille?
or
stick with what I have:

Drove to my parents' and back today, which gave me a little alone time in the Alfa.
It is definitely a firm ride. You can tell every little bump is there in the road, yet feels solid as it goes over them. The steering is just phenomenal, as I had previously attested. I can't recall having any vehicle as direct and immediate as this.
I have found I dislike the transmission and gas pedal programming in any setting less than Dynamic.
Really not the best seat for a 6'5" driver. Still in need of a tilt function. After I got home, I did my usual trick of loosening the front seat bolts and shoving some spacers in there. We'll see if that helps, but I'm pretty sure it won't be enough.
Oh, I finally found the button to change the OBC display. There is a G meter in there, so its a new game to play while driving. Still a wet day today, so my high score is 1.0g.
It was not until today that I understand complaints about the infotainment. I don't know why, but it was dreadfully slow today. Click the button to switch channels and it took a good 10-15 secs to actually do it each time.

@nyccarguy Ooof. That's brutal. Sounds like something my wife would do. She came in yesterday with a 6" surface scratch on her right front fender. Me: "where did that happen?" Her: "I don't see anything." Buffed out luckily.
@qbrozen - Completely on point with you on all points, except about the seats. They're fine for me, but I have the non-sport Seats and am considerably shorter than you at 5'11. Steering is phenomenal and I find the transmission excellent in Dynamic. In any other mode it feels lethargic.

I wonder how much componentry or hard points are shared between, say, a first gen Skyline and the most recent Q60.
