This is about perfect and will bring absolutely stupid money. I’m guessing close to 20.

Beautiful car. I actually don't mind AWD in the post-E46 cars.

But, that 230 HP NA six is uninspiring. I'm sure it's better with a stick, and in the lighter wagon, but in our 2011 X3, it was a snoozer. Never thought I'd think this, but the turbo 4 in the 2017 X3 is way better.

The Cult of BMW is mostly a lot of pretentious, self-righteous jerks. ;)

Of course, that is the vocal minority. I've learned to avoid them. You don't have to be a jerk to love BMWs. Some of us are jerks, naturally. :D

And, in reality, I was a Honda guy for 25+ years, before we went all-in on BMWs. That's where I learned to keep a level head.

I love the NA four in my ti; it’s a traditional European small displacement motor in that you have to keep it “on the boil” to make rapid progress. The turbo four in the X1 does a great job as well. I do think that the current crop of turbo sixes from Munich are just outstanding. They almost make me forget the race-bred S38 in my M6.

You're somewhat of a Honda guy now. Is the Fit parked for the summer, only to be driven to pick up items at Home Depot or stuff you wouldn't dare in your other two?

The Fit gets the short runs, as you surmised. It has great A/C, but doesn't run as well with it on, so if it's 90+, and the sun is on it, I take the GTI from the garage.

And, the GTI gets the 180 mile round-trips to visit my elderly uncle.

    600 miles/month on both cars combined. ;)

It was odd that the LWB S60 was just one of the trim levels. I wonder how many buyers just never noticed? And yes that one was made in China.

I’ll consider one next time I’m looking. But if so, will stick with the FWD version.

    No T6 for you then.

Is resale that poor? Yes. I think residuals on them were as low as like 40%.

Why is that do you think? Are there reliability issues? Known problem areas?

Some car makes only have a fan base when new, then the fans want to chase some other shiny object. A car that drops like a rock but is otherwise dependable could be a great used buy.
The previous generation S60 was incredibly old by end of life with outdated technology relative to its competitors. Combine that with the general disdain for sedans in favor of crossovers and voila.
So reliable bargain if you don’t need the tech? Hmmmmm.

That E91 is beautiful. M-sport would be nice, but on the used market that tends to add a large premium for what amounts to aesthetic changes, other than the short shifter.

Nav would be welcome too just to get the idrive. Controlling functions through the stereo was a bit cumbersome.

But for a manual E91 with those low miles, beggars can’t be choosers.

For Sub-$20k I think it’d be a hoot, but I suspect it will exceed that.

97 sunny degrees today. So, naturally my thoughts turned to wandering closed on Sunday new car lots, local MB/Porsche/Acura/Audi. On the Audi lot, two new E-Tron Sportbacks. My initial thought? Looks like a pregnant A7 on stilts. YMMV.

BMW had an interior available in "natural brown" leather on those. I think that is what @28firefighter has in his. It is amazing! Plus, black carpets and dash, so no fading. That would knock your socks off!

How much energy does it take to destroy the environment? One Watt.

Ansel Adams never said that but it was a tee shirt slogan which reflected criticism of the Secretary of Interior at that time. Adams was not a fan.
