The IMS bearing in the 987.1 is nearly impossible to service but also has a much lower rate of failure due to an improved design over the 986/996. I want to say the IMS bearing designed was removed completely starting with the 987.2.

supposedly, you'll want to have removed the bearing oil seal on the 2005-2007 models. Seems like non-v8 Porsches are always risky one way or another.

Yesterday, someone contacted me about buying the Q7. I offered to sell for $16.9; seem reasonable? It's kinda ridiculous how much these things depreciate, and I had just accepted keeping it for the long run, but if someone wants to buy it....

So when does “this caught me eye” mean I’m gonna buy the car?

Can’t I just post something interesting?

On second thought...don’t answer that. :D

Didn’t ask and don’t know if it was a “S” or base or whether it had any IMS issues addressed.

I can confirm it was a manual though.

If, by "new", you mean brand new with 0 miles on it, I can see that.

But, "new to you" is a whole 'nother story...

So for those interested, my friend is picking up a new Prius Prime for his store tomorrow & the Raptor for himself next week. He looked around in autotrader and CarGurus and found the Raptor was priced market correct. The big thing for him is that they are getting him out of his GMC Sierra Lease completely Scott free with nothing rolled into the payment (he’s got 4 or 5 payments to go in the $700 per month zip code). He doesn’t have to pay GM’s $495 disposition fee, his truck needs 2 rear tires (22”), and there are a couple of dents/scratches that he would have to have repaired before he turned it in. Toyota is going to fully detail the Raptor and put 4 new tires on it for him.

The Raptor Still has the balance of the factory warranty. Since it is still under factory warranty and being sold at a Toyota dealership, they can sell him a Toyota Extended warranty good for 84 months/100,000 miles. $3K.

Short bed, too, if my memory is correct. I think that is the only way you can get a 5.5’ bed on an extended cab in the current generation and the non-Raptor models are 6.5’.

While I'm fairly content passing up the '13 XC70 that I posted about earlier in the month, I can't seem to stop clicking on some car ads and end up down the occasional rabbit hole. And now my love for wagons has me even considering (gasp!) a CVT...

I know a couple CCBA members have gone this direction, so I'll ask you about your experiences.

It seems like a good number, but on the flipside, I'll never NOT be able to find another one of these...

My wife's CR-V has a CVT and, well, I recommend against it. A CVT is good for mpg, but for some people (like me) that kind of transmission somewhat kills the fun in driving. I'm a bit happier every time I'm driving my TLX with the 8-speed DCT. Also, I know Subaru has gotten better, but my parents owned a few of them and they always seemed less refined than my Hondas. They've gotten better, no doubt about it, but my 2 cents is to hold out for a Volvo wagon, an Acura, or something that'll be more fun to drive. Or, what about one of the last of the VW AllTrack wagons?

Or what about a VW GTI? They maybe are a bit like a wagon, and can sometimes be found with a manual. Believe it or not I'm thinking of test driving a GTI manual myself at some point.

We have a 2019 Outback 3.6R Limited. Huge fan, will have to rip it from my wife's grip when the lease is up. I find the CVT (in this car) is pretty well matched to the engine and delivers good power unobtrusively. It isn't a sports car and behave like one, nor do I expect it to.

As you said, they're a dime a dozen now and particularly in another 2 years, they're going to be even more plentiful as Subaru blew them out on leases with crazy discounts.

Ours is a 2015, also with the 3.6. Only 38,000 miles on it after 5.5 years. It's now my (not so) daily driver. Does everything we ask of it.

As noted, not a shooting brake in terms of performance, but my wife refused to consider the 2.5i.

I don't mind the CVT; it has programming that allows it to mimic a traditional automatic, and there are flappy paddles if you want to do it yourself.

Ours was the first model year of that design, so no CarPlay or AA, but I don't miss it, given how little I drive it.

I was really not a fan of my dad's 3.6R legacy with that CVT. Had decent grunt off the line, but no sporting intentions whatsoever. Driving dynamics are on par with any number of large FWD cars.

Aftermarket audio in new cars is a little tougher than it used to be.

You usually need a special adapter or processor to connect outboard amps and the days of just throwing in a new head unit are pretty much over.

My '06 A3 required not 1, but 2 controller "modules" to be in the chain from the button on the radio to the button on the steering wheel, to keep my steering wheel functional. Pain the rear, but totally worth it. I think it was called a PCI and a CAN 2 bus?? something like that.

You'd think with Bluetooth these modern days everything could just be wireless now; beaming the buttons on your steering wheel to your new "head unit."

My new Audi's are not giving competition to Dodge for number of CEL lights encountered in ownership period. No competition at all actually. Maybe the one linked above could even up the scoreboard a bit....eventually......., maybe..... if I combine it with the V8 Quattro too.

I would NEVER buy this, but this is a throwback to my childhood:

My Dad had a 1993 V8 Quattro in this color when I was younger - I want to say he got it in 1996 or 1997, used.

That’s a tiny V8. Was that the model that had the unintended acceleration issue?
As others have answered, that was a "fake news" in the 80's put on by 60 Minutes. The problem was that the accelerator and brake were put a bit closer together to lessen the time you needed to move your foot for "sporty" intentions, but Americans couldn't figure out which pedal they were pushing.

Finally an electric car for Roadburner. Although you might never want to go get your teeth drilled at the dentist ever again.

Not a chance, I don't know what idiot at Ford thought that diluting the Mustang brand was a good idea- but that person and whoever signed off on it should be fired.
Agreed. It could be the best vehicle in the world but it shouldn’t be called a Mustang

I really liked driving my B5 A4 but it was a money pit, fussy to maintain, and I was in college with an income that should have had me in something cheaper. As soon as I landed with my current employer it was dumped.

I actually saw a Mach-E on the way to work earlier this week. I tried catching up to it but never got closer than to see the rear. It had plates from out of state so I wonder if it was undergoing some high altitude testing.

Name not withstanding, I like the looks of it.

Why not just call it the Mach E and leave the Mustang out of it.?
