The link says they are summer tires. I guess your humor went over my head.

Heheh.... Winter in San Diego doesn't look much different than summer. Basically, he was poking fun at us in the snow-bound parts of the world. :(

We were getting highs of around 60 last week.... it was considered "highly unusual" for this time of year. This week, highs in the mid-40s, though it isn't dipping much below freezing at night, if any. Surprisingly little frost so far this year.

Drove a newer VW Tiguan and liked it. Shifted with no turbo lag, so assuming it had the 2.0 engine. Had about 18K on it but still drove very tight. No rattles or other noises and if it were the size of my current VW Golf, definitely would consider one.
Also drove a 2019 Camry yesterday and as impressed at how well it drove. Very smooth and quiet and the front seat was very comfortable for my bad spine. It had just under 41K on the clock which surprised me.
We got in a few truckloads of new vehicles the last few days. We got to take them from the pdi area and get them in the gas/wash lane so they could be put into service. There were Kia Forte's, Toyota Corolla's and Toyota Rav4's in all different colors. Must admit the Enterprise has more different brands then Hertz had in the six years I was there.

Looks like the A3 will need a new battery sooner than later. It's going back to Audi tomorrow for them to check it out. It's making that sound when a battery is near it's end and can't understand why they didn't test it two weeks ago when they had it in for it's 55K service. Now last Thursday, my 23 month old battery gave me no warning and just stopped cranking. It was an Interstate unit and luckily, it had a 2 year full replacement guarantee. The current battery in the A3 is the 2nd unit Audi put in there under warranty, so if a new one is needed, it'll be on us. Still very happy with her A3 and think we'll have it for another few years.

Also saw about a dozen new Hyundai Sonata's yesterday and liked them. Think Hyundai will sell a bunch of them. Still waiting to see the new K5 in the flesh. But think that we'll finally see some in the next few weeks. Guessing that Enterprise bought a bunch of new 2021 vehicles and they're now coming into PBI.

I had a similar experience with the TL. About a month ago it was in for a repair and an oil change. They did a multi point inspection including a battery test and all tested fine. Just this last Monday, out of the blue, the TL wouldn’t start. The battery failed.

I’ve started to see a few new Sonatas around. I don’t like the styling. Especially that LED light that goes up the hood. I think I saw a Kia K5. Same headlights, no LEDs that go up the hood. Much nicer.

I saw a joke some time ago along the lines that if the BMW designers/engineers from 1983 could see the current lineup, they'd jump out of the window. As time goes on, that becomes more appropriate.

Yes. We have the warranty. We are overdue for service thanks to social distancing. And I have a list of electrical issues for them to look into. There must be a loose connector somewhere causing the driver’s seat controls, cruise control, and passenger airbag to intermittently misbehave. I took videos in case they can’t replicate.

I would probably like driving an ATS-V as a daily, but the thought of owning a domestic out of warranty makes me quiver more than owning a 20 year old Audi S8 out of warranty.

Part of the problem is personal experience. The other is I know where to go if something bad happens to an Audi and not get taken to the cleaners, but I'd be starting from scratch on anything outside of VW/Audi.

Last night, I received a set of rear wheel bearing assemblies for the Forester. Just taking a quick look at them, I'm hoping this will be maybe an hour-long job to get them both swapped out (hopefully I didn't just jinx myself). I think I'll go home "early" tonight and see if I can get it sorted before darkness falls.

I diagnosed a noisy wheel bearing on my wife's car a couple months ago, but I figured I could let it go to the spring. Monday night, she says, "when were you planning to replace the wheel bearing? It seems like it is getting really loud." So, about fifteen minutes later I had them on order. LOL

Hah! I might believe the patience; I struggle with that at times as well. Maybe it's a good thing that nearly every "professional" experience I have is such a goat-roping, then. Sometimes it takes more patience for me to let someone else do the work than it does for me to just struggle through it myself.

However, this job is supposed to be really easy... especially compared to the rather difficult task of replacing a wheel bearing on my Q7 a year ago.

I really admire those of you that can take on tasks like this. I don’t have the skills nor the tools to do it! Nor patience truth be told...

Why do wheel bearings seem to be such a common failure point with Subarus? I had the right rear wheel bearing replaced on my 2015 Legacy before it hit 50K miles?

Yeah and Ford with their plastic intakes on the 4.6. Funny how every make has something that has really hurt their reliability.
