Swap of wrangler for x3m40i went almost without a hitch. They had loan APR as 1.9% and it was supposed to be 0.9% but they corrected it right away. They had me in and out within 30 minutes since I sent all paperwork in and loan was taken care of yesterday. There was a $4500 rebate if I financed for 3 months with BMW FS
The ride back was uneventful. The ride was great on the highway. I must have been aiming for potholes when I initially test drove one but it was at night and on unfamiliar roads.
Congratulations. Isn’t it interesting how when they make “mistakes” it’s always in their favor?
When my Dad bought his Yukon in 2018, he took 0% financing for 5 years. We respectfully & politely declined everything that the F&I woman offered (VIN Etching, prepaid maintenance, wheel & tire insurance, extended warranty, scotch guard...). She then said: “this is what your payment will be. Just sign right here.” I held my hand up to prevent my Dad from signing the giant table sized tablet, whipped out my phone and added selling price plus sales tax, DMV Fees then divided by 60. The number I got was lower than what they wanted him to sign. The woman told me that I must have made a mistake. I then did the calculation in front of her and she went back through all the paperwork. The VIN etching was “mistakenly” automatically put on to the contract because “everybody just takes it.”
On the other hand, I remember one salesman on here telling of a customer who complained that he thought the payment would be lower if the APR was 0% for 60 months. The sales guy did the same thing you did- he took the OTD price and divided it by 60- but the customer still complained that he was being ripped off...

I notice that the only aspect you have a problem with is the keeping it part. If you are only in for the short term anyway, it really doesn't matter much how you pay for it.
I figure that by the time I hit my target to get the next car (4/1) I will have about $4,500 in the bank saved as the result of going down to one car for 7 months. So enough for a cheap set of spare wheels or a nice DP on something nicer.
Buy the car. Pay cash. Keep it for 10-15 years, Simple.
With the interest rates right now, one would waste money paying cash. Even if the funds are available, don't do it! Taking my own advice is why I'm now in debt again, but I feel good about it because I'm choosing to be in debt rather than being forced to it.

But if you keep your cash what kind of return can you get from it? I suppose that choice keeps your cash free if you stumble on a 2nd must-have car.

We were moving a bunch of Dodge Journeys the other day and one of them was a bright orange. Even though we all cringed at the color, the boss said the more garish colors were in high demand by dealers because they were the easiest to sell.

It sets the bar low for looking better in person. Kinda like what they say about the new BMW M3 and M4 grille/ front end
I don't mind that. Seems most here I notice are white (including the one near me that has either a poorly chosen exhaust mod, or some kind of exhaust defect). Also a big tray style roof rack, because PNW Subaru.

The Wrangler had a clean autocheck history with a score of “95”. My wife got rear ended in it and the police came. It had a plastic bumper that had a small crease. I ended up putting a steel bumper with LED backup lights instead of replacing the plastic cover. It was not turned in to the girl’s insurance. The stepdad paid me with a check.
Last summer my daughter rear ended a Toyota Avalon in it. It did $5k damage to Avalon. It only scuffed the front plastic bumper of the Jeep. No police came, they just exchanged information but the Avalon repairs were paid for by my insurance company.
It's the PNW lifestyle/image thing. I still recall an old co-worker wanting to put a ski rack on his Impreza, for "the look" (he didn't ski). Also needs at least 8 stickers, at least three of those related to being "local" (but not really), a heart with a WA/OR map, something from a trendy brewery or related to dogs, etc.
I might not be one to talk, as the fintail is currently wearing a 1962 issue Thule ski rack, but it's all about the vintage accessory, and will be removed after winter.
I'm considering a Macan, all around here are black, white, gray or silver. A smattering of blue, an occasional red. Green has been Bengal-Super Bowl appearance-like.

The corny, ridiculous script shines through everywhere. Conversations are clearly practiced well in advance, with no room left for improvisation. The guys spend almost no time together during their travels, and when there’s an overnight stop it’s at a luxurious hotel.
And it’s so stale. The rigid plot isn’t believable or interesting, and it builds to a non-climax...
An hour and a half after it started, “A Massive Hunt” proves itself a massive flop.
So someone blew past me today in a blue Veloster N. Hadn't really thought of it and I think it is probably too small for my tastes, but it gave me something to chase down the rabbit hole. I'd consider reaching out for a test drive if I wasn't dreading the interaction with any of the local Hyundai dealers.

not sure when it is coming out, but if you can't deal with the goofy styling and terrible visibility (and small back seat) the Elantra N is coming. The reviews are out online already. Same drivetrain so basically the sedan version.
The Veloster N DCT is very close to fast- 0-60 in 4.8 seconds, according to Car and Driver. I was surprised that it returns worse fuel economy than my 2 Series(18 mpg vs. 21 mpg).

Depends on what you do with it. With the current stock market, you can pull 40%+ returns on it in short order... which seems like a pretty good deal to me. If you have it sitting in a savings or money market account? Okay, spend it on a car before it depreciates any further!

I just received confirmation that the purchasing paperwork arrived back at the NY dealer today. So, hopefully delivery on Monday or Tuesday is doable. There's supposed to be another big storm in the area, at least in the lakes area, so all of you in the region take care over the holiday... and have a little fun in the snow!

my wife does not complain once a month when the 2nd car payment no longer auto deducts. Not quite the same as having a paid off car though. Though she also does not complain when the payment of her fancy new luxury car comes out.
speaking of that, was out with the kid today and I let her drive home since she never drove the RDX before. She was quite impressed. liked the seats, steering and zoom zoom. Commented that is was quite a step up from her Jetta and maybe she should get one. Though her current fixation has been the Volvo XC40.

About every second or third day, the wife comments how much she likes not having a car payment.
