Long time lurker occasional poster with a punch here. Never fell in love with my 1996 Mustang GT; felt like driving my 1972 Ford LTD. Replaced it with a 1997 BMW Z3, one owner under 80k miles dealer serviced all its life, Unfortunately its lived in Florida its whole life and has the Salvador Dali dashboard and a few other little issues. First Bimmer here, driving it home I really get these cars - liking it so far
Congrats! I have a friend that bought a low mileage '98 2.8 about 4 years ago. He loves it!
2021 Tucson Ultimate is intriguing. Wife is a badge snob but I’ll run it by her.
My son and I drove one a few weeks ago - for an old model I was very pleasantly surprised at how it drove. Given all the options included on the Ultimate and the heavy discounts, it’s a great buy.
And maybe I’ll feel differently when I see one in person, but I think the outgoing model is quite handsome compared to the overly stylized upcoming 2022 model.
The Carvana offer on the GTI is now $1500 more than I paid for it. 14 months and 8000 miles ago. 🤯
This is insanity. Who’s buying these cars?
Well, in this case.... Carvana.
Yeah, but somebody is buying them from Carvana for even more. Carvana wouldn’t be paying these insane prices unless they could make a profit. Could it be that the rental car supply is so tight that they can’t supply their stores with ex rentals so they are going to the private market?

Welcome! I like those Z3s. I have a couple of friends who own them (one in the same color as yours). They both love them.
I finally tried the Carvana game to see what would happen. Offer is 54K on the wagon. I then put in data for a 2018 model with equivalent features and mileage to simulate the car at lease end. Offer was 45K, which is exactly the residual.

If you haven’t already, join BMW CCA; you might also find the British magazine BMW CAR entertaining and helpful as well. And congratulations for knowing it’s a Bimmer and not a “Beemer”- or worse, a “Beamer.”

We spoke about the bimmer more this morn. She says she really loves it and hates to let it go. I asked if she loved it enough to give up the $1750 check, $800 for tires, and $400 dispo fee. She said no. So I submitted the paperwork just now. I'm not sure if it will go through because Vroom specifically states the registration has to be in her name for them to buy it. It is a lease, so the reg is in BMW Financial's name. We'll see. I don't recall seeing that wording when selling others. But I don't recall who I sold the hyundai to.
As to her replacement, we agreed we don't need to rush.

I guess this is the last hurrah for the soon to be discontinued Passat. Look at the Easter eggs put in the rear quarter windows. I wish they put more effort in the refresh than adding these. These were added for 2021. TN on the left, GER on the right side window.

FWIW, our Crosstrek I sold to them back in Sept was a lease in my wife’s name.

Registration on the lease was still in my name. I think AFS was just a lien holder on the title. Carvana had no issue with it.
I should run the RDX through just for kicks. Even though the wife would never go for that since she would have zero interest in looking for a replacement, and would probably just want another one anyway, so why bother? And when you only have one car, hard to just sell it and not replace.
I did talk to her yesterday on our evening walk about the merits of various PU type trucks. Pretty sure she was not actually paying attention though. But like TJCs wife, she has her dream car, and she does not really care what I do. With the usual caveats that it can't be fiscally irresponsible (and she knows I am way too cheap to do that), and if it is too uncomfortable or embarrassing to be seen in, don't expect her to ride in it.
Actually saw another Bronco sport out and about today. Sharp looking red. I like the design. And the 2.0t engine is quite spritely. I doubt they lease well of course.
and man, every time I drive by the local Ford dealer near my house, I am shocked at how sparse the inventory is on their lot. They keep spreading out the cars more and more (like a balding guy trying to cover his bald spot) to make it not look as bad.

It's a new-ish public company, with a lot of venture capital behind it. They may not actually have to make money for awhile.
that's why I want PU! Of course, I never want to do mulching, etc. again. But the wife does need a few bags of dirt for her container garden, and I hate to put that inside the nice car.
Can't wait to see the Maverick and Santa Cruz. One of those might be a perfect 2nd car

Lol. A few bags of mulch does NOT require a PU.

Tucson is out. Now she says she doesn't want to give up "punchiness." So the 8.8s 0-60 time of the Tucson is way less than punchy.
The things that make my wife’s CUV tolerable are: RWD based xDrive M Sport package including suspension 6.0 second 0-60/Sub-15 second 1/4 mile It’s usually my 3rd choice if we are driving into town, but at least it’s not a penalty box.

I do have a justification though. We are (very slowly) working toward relocating. And that will involve getting rid of a lot of stuff one way or another, and of course, a new place will probably require frequent trips to get stuff. So it actually would come in handy for all that.
While checking out used cars at my dealer I saw a 330i optioned almost exactly how I would build it. I just don’t think I’d be happy with the four. Plus, it’s Mineral White/black- a boring combo I’m already saddled with.

She’d probably like the design, since she is a Land Rover fan, but gotta crank that sucker up to $38k! to get the 2.0 plus upgraded interior. A near $40k Escape is impossible to swallow.

I have a 2014 Acura RDX Tech Package. I put it in Carvana 2 weeks ago, $15,200. I put it in again this morning, $17,100.
I just ran it again and the offer is $19,298. This is with 59,000 miles. I think I may have to let it go. We've had it since new, it's been a great vehicle, one recall, and just regular maintenance.
That's crazy! Mileage is clearly king, because they "only" put 16,1 on my '15 with 77K. Maybe I should run it again?
Of course, viable potential replacements are few and far between, so I'd have to be ready to move on one before I did anything like that.
EDIT: Ran it again and the offer is $16,3...
I don't know how you ran yours, but I found out if I don't use the VIN or license plate the offer is lower.
Ran mine on the VIN. Didn't know you COULD without one or the other.
Maybe I undersold it? Interior is still "pretty great" and so are the mechanicals, but after 6 years and 78K are they really?
you can put a generic model equipment and miles and get a price that way. Don't know why they would give a lower offer by being able to run a carfax. They will do that anyway if you want to actually start the process since the quote isn't official until the do that.

Fast enough for most... but that car wouldn’t satisfy you at all.
The current X1, X2, and the beyond pathetic 2 series Gran Coupe use the UKL modular platform shared with Mini. I don’t mind a transverse engine in a small FWD/AWD sport compact/hot hatch but as for me I can’t see owning a CUV(or a lager car) with that setup. That’s why I was so glad my wife landed on an E84 M Sport; it’s akin to an E91 with a lift kit.

Regardless, resale is driven by perception. If a 3-yr-old Bronco Sport gets 60% of its original MSRP on a dealer buyout offer, I’ll change my tune.
The problem is the way they packaged the BS (did they think ahead on the name?!). You have to get the top trim, which still doesn’t even come with leather and upgraded stereo, to get the acceptable engine.

I haul stuff in the ATS because it's my only choice. I don't let it get messy because I clean it up after. A couple of old TV sets to the recycle place, sacks of soil, manure, mulch, rock. As long as it isn't 1000lbs or really bulky stuff, it's fine.

If you have a rubber trunk liner, I've found that also helps a great deal.
A pickup truck bed tonneau cover definitely improves fuel mileage.
I've heard mixed opinions about this... Some argue that, if that (or lowering the tailgate) produced a significant MPG improvement, trucks would come standard with them (or with mesh tailgates).
