I put up the old steel wheels from the 2013 work truck on Craigslist, and someone just gave me $50 for the set. Not a fortune, but better than throwing them away. And lowers my net cost on upgrading to the aluminum wheels.

I had a set of aftermarket alloys for a 3-Series, that I couldn't give away. I ended up selling them for scrap for $60.
I have the impression that people who buy BMWs usually have money to burn, at least compared to most. As such, why would they be interested in used wheels off Craigslist?

Now a Ford truck, especially an older work truck, those kinds of buyers are definitely craigslist / thrift store /garage sale kinds of people. :)

I'm betting it's a Yukon... People often refer to them generically as "Denalis" since it was the first GMC product to offer that trim level. I think it's available on all or almost all GMCs now.

The only thing I can find is relative to the 1969 Oldsmobile 442. Which I don't think applies here.

My guess is this is some kind of joke, but I wouldn't bet very much either way.

Around here anyway that would be a bargain - even with the miles I see material a lot more risky at that price point. If that thing has been maintained and doesn't have a hidden history, it still has life left in it.

I just saw a Red Hyundai Veloster N. Very sharp looking car. Reminds me of a more modern MazdaSpeed 3. Black 5 Spoke Wheels. My biggest problem with it, aside from the fact that it looks like there is next to zero outward rear visibility is that the wheels seem to stick out from the rubber band tires.

I really like the Veloster N; if it was available with heated seats/wheel(as originally proposed) I would probably have bought one for my DD.

Again, my mechanic isn't the one who's put the extra oil in the A3, it's been the Audi store each time, either here at home or in Orlando. My new mechanic has only fixed one leak in both vehicles, the recent ones. I got his name from a co-worker and I like him and am sure if would've taken care of everything if he had seen it. We'll be taking the A3 into him in a matter of weeks so he can fix whatever coolant issue there is. Plus, we'll also replace those couple of tires that need to be done. The A3 is really a great vehicle and she likes it. At 63K, still has plenty of life left in her and she still looks great.

    I think I found your problem…YOU.

When you want your car repaired you should tell your mechanic what you know about your problem. When a good mechanic knows what you know he’ll be better able to find your problem or at least know what he’ll have to be concentrating on.

When you help him, he’ll be better able to help you with the least amount of trauma and better results.

Heated seats can be added fairly easily aftermarket. The wheel, not so much, but I wouldn't let a lack of heated seats alone steer me away from a purchase.

Taking a look at the Ford Maverick specs tonight. In the Bronco Sport and the Escape, premium fuel is recommended for the 2.0T and they state that the 250 HP rating is with premium fuel, but you can run regular if you want. So, basically, it's only going to perform as intended with premium.

The Escape 2.0T, Bronco Sport 2.0T, and Maverick 2.0T all have the same gear ratios in their eight speed automatic transmissions. The only difference is the final drive:
    Escape - 3,668 lbs - 3.47 final drive - 31 MPG highway - 6.3 second 0-60
    Bronco Sport - 3,707 lbs - 3.81 final drive - 26 MPG highway - 6.2 second 0-60
Maverick - 3.63 final drive standard; 3.81 with 4k tow package

I think the Bronco Sport and Maverick are both less aerodynamic than the Escape and probably have a higher frontal square footage. Curb weight on the Maverick is unknown, but should be similar to the Bronco Sport. I used the highest published figures from Google on the Escape and Bronco Sport. With an eight speed auto, I'm not sure that the small difference in axle ratio will make much difference in published performance figures or even how responsive it feels in everyday driving. It should make a little difference in reducing downshifts on uphill stretches.

I think punches from relatives count in here. Like a close relative, Son #1. If things go as planed this afternoon he’s getting a used Denali from Carvana.

    TO BE CONTINUED (maybe).

    jmonroe

Denali is a trim. What is the model?
OK, here goes. If this doesn’t count as a punch you guys have to promise to forget what follows:

Even though it is our anniversary today and we had plans, Son #1 wanted us to go with him and his wife and 2 sons (youngest and middle) to the Carvana place to get the truck. Their vending machine was not working but his truck was on the lot waiting when we arrived. Now about the truck:

It’s a 2015 burgundy with black interior Sierra, 4 door, SL something, 1500, all terrain with one of the Denali trim packages. He paid a couple ticks under 40 grand for it. It must be toward the top trim package because it seems to have everything except cooling seats. It had 16,865 miles on it and it was car carried to the Burgh from someplace in Indiana for only a $100 shipping fee. I don’t think our poster buddy @mjfloyd1 would have driven it here for that price.

The only scratches I saw were on the bottom of one of the rear doors and one on the opposite side rocker panel and they were both minor. Might even be able to be buffed out but you never really know a vehicle until you give it a wax job. Then you find EVERYTHING. There ain’t no way I’m waxing the behemoth, that’s for damn sure. The bed had some real scratches and also the wheel wells in the bed. Don’t understand why the original owner didn’t have a bed liner but my son is going to get a sprayed in liner from an outfit called Line-X which he said has very good reviews and was also recommended by one of his friends that had a sprayed in liner from that outfit. In fact it was this friend that got him thinking about a truck so he could write-off a part of it for his house flipping side biz that he is taking real serious lately. He said to get a write-off you have to get a real truck, at least a 3/4 ton job so he started looking a couple months ago and when he saw this truck from Carvana he decided he better jump on it before it was gone. It seems like a lot of money to me for a used truck but he says the write-off makes it worth it.

Anyway guys that’s it. I probably left out something but if this can be logged in as an official punch, ask and I’ll try to answer.

FWIW, we’ll celebrate our anniversary tomorrow night. When we got home Mrs. j said, “I can’t believe I was willing to give up going to a nice restaurant for going to look at cars stacked in a tall building that didn’t even work like it was supposed to. Okay, that's pretty hilarious (the comments by the Mrs.)!

If he needs a 3/4-ton for tax purposes, the truck would need to be a 2500, not a 1500 (1500 is half-ton). That aside, sounds like a rather pimped ride for essentially a contractor truck. Then again, there are quite a few contractors around here that do drive rather plush machines.

If he is getting very serious about his house flipping, hopefully he has moved away from calling the pops to come help him out with the renovations. ;)

I guess I missed something about the ton rating. I’ll find out more tomorrow when we’re at the flip. Yes, I help but not as much as I did with the first two. He has found a pretty good carpenter to do the heavy stuff that we used to do. Funny but we have to rework the deck on this third house to get it up to the new codes. We knew this going in but now is the time to do it. Replacing six 6x6’s 8 feet long with 12 footers buried about 3 to 4 feet is heavy lifting to me but I’ll help where I can.

The more I think about it, I think the size of the truck had something to do with the towing capacity. Like it had to be at least one of the V8 engines offered (his is the 5.3 not the 6.2) but it cannot be a six banger. His bed is also 6 1/2 feet not a 4 footer which doesn’t qualify for a tax write-off. I guess the IRS considers those yuppy mobiles. But I’ll try to get more info tomorrow.

With the warm summer weather, I've noticed a few things on the road. 1 - A LOT of people drive Wranglers. I see them all over with their tops down, flipped back, roof/doors completely off, freedom panels off. I've also noticed a decent amount of Miatas out there (I know, 'tis the season). The NB Miata (is this what you had @stickguy?) has quickly become my favorite "old" Miata. The styling is still current in my eyes. The ND is my favorite Miata.

Sharp Miata. I had a 92 which was the first generation as my fun car. I really enjoyed it and would love to own one again. My daily driver then was a 96 Mazda Millenia L, which was a fine car as well.

When I got my first new car, the 1985 Toyota MR2, I leased it. When the lease was about to expire, the residual value was badly underestimated versus market at the time. Given that I had made all those payments at a higher rate than would have been the case if the residual was closer to reality, I knew I was going to buy it at lease-end. When I showed up that day to do the purchase, the leasing guy (a good fellow who was a friend of my dad's) had a just-introduced Miata MX-5 parked out front, in blue. He tried his best to get me into that instead, but I resisted. I kept the MR2 for a while longer and did well when I finally sold it privately.

Not $4800 worth of life, IMHO.

Jeep arrived. Too late to get pics. Just enough time to take it to our appt tonight and back. About 10 miles or so roundtrip. Almost met its demise real quick when a deer ran in front of us. Found out it has surprisingly good braking.

I really like it. Definitely skittish. It could use less immediate steering response. But its quieter than I thought it would be. And she is a darned site quicker than she deserves to be.

I’ll make the wife drive it to my sister’s tomorrow to see if she likes driving it.

Check the tire pressures. On the Wrangler forum people are finding them over 40 psi causing it to wander all over the road.

Drove a newish Miata at work, well a couple of them. Getting wasn't the problem but getting out, was terrible and my spine let me know that I'm never to ever do this again! It really hurt just trying to maneuver myself out. Great driving vehicle though and love the looks. But sadly, not one in my future.
Been seeing a ton of the Toyota CH-R's on the road down here and am starting to warm up to them even though they have that crazy blind spot out back. The size is just about perfect and if one can be had with a light interior, might mitigate that rear blind spot a bit. It seems that everyone we get at the Toyota store is gone within a matter of days. Haven't driven one since my last days at Hertz so will have to find one in our fleet and give it a whirl again.

We stopped by the West Palm Beach OffLeaseOnly.com store yesterday and it was mobbed for some reason. Since my co-worker used to work at a sister location, we just walked in and went out to see the vehicles. Many of their vehicles have had an accident which is why their prices are so good I'm thinking. But they did have quite an interesting mix of different vehicles. Especially liked the BMW X2's they had. A couple from 2018 with miles in the mid to upper 20's with prices in the mid $20's also. They had a white over tan one which really caught my eye and also a grey metallic over black which was just stunning! But having a vehicle that's got an accident on it's CarFax report is just something I don't think I could do no matter how minor the incident was. But seeing that they sell so many vehicles down here and the amount of folks in the showroom on a hot Friday afternoon, guessing many folks can overlook this issue.
Did like that all the vehicles were unlocked so we got to sit in a few that I would consider. Definitely liked the size of the Chevy Bolt but after doing some research, it seems like Tesla and Chevy might no longer qualify for the fed rebate of $7500 due to them selling more than 200K units so far. he only way I think I'd even consider a Bolt is if the rebate were still in effect and if I could get one for under $30K. Plus one has to also figure in the price of the retrofitting of one's garage so it can be charged at home. Have read that Chevy might be covering that cost with the new 2022's due out this summer but until I see it on the contract, who really knows if it'll happen. Saw a Nissan Leaf but just didn't like it and a Tesla is just going to be to expensive to even consider. Add this to the fact that location and amount of charging stations around the area aren't where they need to be yet to get folks to really switch over to EV vehicle's. Think the cities, states & federal government need to get this issue figured out if they really want mainstream America to replace their current vehicles with EV ones. Right now, we're just not at that point yet.

White over tan X2 has clean carfax - it’s on their website

That's great to hear actually. I've been on their site for a few years now and I do recall a lot of their vehicles have an issue on their CarFax reports, not all of course, but many do. And I'm sure many of them are just small fender benders that in no way effect their driveability, I'm just saying in my case, I'd pass on any vehicle with an issue of any kind. But, the majority of vehicles I've ever bought have been new...think out of the four used I've bought, two of them had issues that if I had known about, I never would've bought them.
But again, as I said, the amount of folks there yesterday and the amount of license plate surrounds I see everyday down here in South Florida just tell me that the majority of folks have no issue with their vehicles. And that X2 yesterday was really a very nice vehicle to be honest. Just not sure I'm willing to get another German vehicle to be honest. Am thinking my odds of happiness lean with either a new Toyota or Hyunda/Kia vehicle as my next ride. And if that new upcoming Corolla Cross checks all the boxes, think it'll be the final winner. An XLE with the JBL audio system will be just perfect for me with or without the sun/moon roof though if it has one, all the better as I use mine in the nicer weather. The only time we've used the one in the A3 is when I am driving it & open it.

Nice to see a bit of color inside - I'm sure most production has all-black interiors. I like the green paint and that upholstery color goes well with it.

That Jeep is awesome, totally awesome! Looks like it could be fun and have a feeling your wife is gonna like it also. Wouldn't be surprised if she takes it over as her new d d!
Congrats on a beautiful fun vehicle. If it weren't so big, think I could like one for myself!
