True, but I especially enjoy the use of the language.

    Okay, now that's funny!

Yes, if I was speaking aloud to @28firefighter , I would have likely said, "you have something to look forward to," yet I try to avoid ending sentences with prepositions when I write.
Yep, I know what you mean. I had a bad habit like that myself and it was tough to break. That’s why 5th grade was the worst 2 years of my life. :'(

I think not ending a sentence with a preposition was pounded into our heads for years. I remember in college freshman English if a sentence ended with a preposition, or if the sentence was a fragment or run on, it was an automatic F. Now we are being told ending a sentence with a preposition is A ok.

I’m at the beach this week. We rent in a very snooty town (not far from TJC). It’s car watching heaven. In 2block ride today, saw 3 different current style panameras. Too many range rovers to count. But I think the most popular car by far is wranglers. They are everywhere. Most with some amount of top or doors off. Great wheels for a beach town!

Will be down at the shore at the end of August for a week in OCNJ. Haven’t been to the shore in probably a decade. Used to go to Margate/Longport when I was a kid.

I had a cousin who lived in Philadelphia; he and his wife owned a condo in Margate that the first wife and I got to use for a night 30+ years ago.

Enjoyed the trip, and the condo, though the visit was in October, I believe, so no beach weather for us.

I’m glad you noticed it too, because they truly are everywhere!! The campground is at least 20% Wranglers.

Speaking of the campground, got the deposit last night and ironed out all the details. New owner taking possession around the end of the month.

Have a bid in on a nice little condo one block from the beach in Wildwood Crest, but we are pretty sure we didn’t come heavy enough. We could go higher, but feel that it’s already high enough and if we don’t get it will wait for the next one.

Running to the dentist at 10, my temp came out at dinner last night. Was eating KFC and felt like I was swallowing a bone. Only after I spit it out did I realize that wasn't no chicken bone! Going into Toyota at 12:30 today so they fit me in this morning luckily. First time this ever happened to me and I'm on my 3rd crown replacement now. But they mentioned this might happen so I wouldn't be surprised. Nice that her office is just under 10 minutes from the house! Like I always tell the kids, it's always something in life, a new issue crops up which makes you forget the last one. It's all about how one deals with the ups & downs in life that can make or break ya.

Did you see anything there with a tad of rust that @oldfarmer50 would be interested in?

FWIW, I’ll be going to Myrtle Beach in a few weeks but car sightings there are pretty blah.

I got a quote on my from AlGo MKZ last week. In the mean time, they sent me an email with a link that used your phone camera so that you could do a walkaround and possibly get a higher offer.

We had cars on the lot when I left Saturday night so it'll be interesting to see what's left when I go in at 12:30 today. Did loo at a bunch of stickers before I went home and they all had that $3995 add-on for "market adjustment"! Corolla's going for $30K just seemed so outrageous to me, so glad I've basically stopped looking...if anything needs addressing with both vehicles, we'll just have it done. Honestly, no one seems to know when this chip situation will come to an end and I'm guessing it'll be well into 2022 that things get back to a "new normal"! I know our service department is crazy busy with folks getting work done, and most folks I speak with are just keeping their vehicles a bit longer and fixing what needs to be fixed. And with so many of us no longer driving the amount we did before the pandemic, staying the course and not replacing any in the fleet is probably a good thing. Pay off any balance and then put those payments into a special new car account until more inventory is available.

Was looking in my maintenance booklet earlier today and as curious about when the next brake fluid change should be done, ditto about when to change out the coolant and lastly, when to swap out the spark plugs. I know the brake fluid was changed at the 30K service but didn't see anything about it at the 60K or 90K services. Nothing about the coolant change but saw it mentioned changing out the spark plugs at the 60K service. I'm almost at 68K and haven't thought about doing the spark plugs. Is this something I should have done and could that slight turbo lag I keep having be because the original plugs are still in there? If I should have these services done, might as well do them and just put off looking for new for another year.
I have the 1.8T engine in my Golf so if anyone in here knows when I should change these items, I'd be very appreciative for the education here as to what needs or doesn't need to be done. Still like the Golf truth be told, so doing these things and holding on a bit longer is really no big deal. Just add the funds to my new car account and hold off. Am still thinking about leasing next time if the numbers work as I'd always be in warranty and be driving basically a brand new vehicle. Just like last year, doubt I'll be going over 4K miles this year as we don't drive very far and stay rather close to home. I don't see that changing in the future as we'll probably be taking the daughters Accent up to Orlando in October since it's the newest vehicle and really could use some time out on the highway to give it a good workout.
Again, thanks in advance to anyone who can correctly answer my earlier questions about my Golf's maintenance!

Brand-new $125k Tesla Model S Plaid explodes in flames. No accident. Just fire. Driver escapes, but was briefly trapped.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2021/07/01/tesla-plaid-fire/

“He’s in the car, he smells and sees the smoke, turns around and sees the smoke is filling up the cabin, then flames, and reacts almost immediately,” Geragos said in an interview. “The door malfunctions, he gets out and somehow the car is still running [down the road] according to witnesses as he’s trying to get away from the car. And within moments of him getting out of the car, the car is engulfed in flames.”

“Once he saw the fire shoot out of the back, that’s when he immediately pulled over to try to exit the vehicle,” Setchen said. “He tried to get out of the vehicle; he was pushing the door frantically and it would not engage.”

Finally, he said, the owner put the weight of his body against the door.

“He was able to push the button again and lean against the door very hard and that’s when it opened up,” he said.

I'll wait for the investigation before drawing any conclusions. Every few months there's some media story, usually at the end of a quarter, about some Tesla incident. That this guy had an attorney, who describes himself as a celebrity lawyer, talking to the media within hours of the incident, has to be a coincidence, I'm sure.
Throwback Monday - Haven't heard a peep about this story in awhile. But with tesla doing an earnings call next week, it could magically resurface.

Vroom is next highest so far at $49k. Not quite the profit I was looking for. I'm not sure what they'll say the payoff is. Cap cost was $45,2xx. Of course, some interest and a fee, so maybe $45.7k. Then my deposit, transport, and broker fee. I'm in at about $48k. Maybe I can talk the wife into keeping the green. haha. I'm sure she would, but hoping I'd make some money on the endeavor.

I’m surprised they are usually a good outfit. Was very easy to deal with when they bought my Genesis.

When I tried to get out of the S60 they were under the payoff so I didn’t take it any further. A manager there (initials MC) called me and tried to make it work but he couldn’t come up enough.

When I met my wife she owned an R18i; it was fun to drive but always had an issue. The last straw was when the automatic began downshifting on its own when driving down the interstate. She still watches F1 just so she can root against the Alpines.

I doubt it at the moment. Only one to have gone through auction got $55k. Rubicons are $62k +. I think it is more likely the bids so far are playing it safe with little to no data to go on. Took a while to get the right bite on my Camaro, too. And that was thousands above the 2nd highest bid.

Don’t screw it up. We’d like to make use of it before the season is over.

Lol. One of the main reasons we are moving on from the campground is rental potential.

So.. once we settle in on something and get it ready to rent I’ll share the VRBO link. For you J I’ll only hike up the price 10%!

I guess you don’t know me very well. The most I’ll pay is MSRP. :@

While out yesterday I drove by the Cadillac dealer. The new car lot was essentially empty. The used car lot was thin as well. About two blocks away the CarMax looked like it had a full lot of vehicles, quite the change from a couple of weeks ago when it, too, appeared sparsely populated. I wonder how much they over paid for the vehicles they currently have in inventory?
