Welcome back Marco and welcome to the neighborhood. Burnt Hills isn’t too far from me. I occasionally take a drive out there because they always have the cheapest gas.

You’re in the right spot for car shows. The best in my opinion is the Saratoga Car Museum’s car auction every September at SPAC. That’s just a few miles up the road on Rt. 50.

The G42 configurator is not on the BMW USA site, but it is on the BMW Canada site. I built a M240i xDrive that essentially meets my specs. Assuming the xDrive surcharge remains at $2,000 it looks like "my" M240i is going to have an MSRP around $56,000(USD)- or about the price of a Supra 3.0 Premium. Of course BMW Canada bundles options differently, and the existence of the sunroof delete option is not confirmed, which would be the real deal breaker.

I did find a nice 2018 M4 Comp, but it was fitted with ceramic brakes, which feature rotors that cost $4,000 a corner. They last almost forever, but can be chipped by road debris or sloppy wheel replacement procedures- so I'll pass...

Interesting that BMW does it different for Canada, MB is the same. I wonder if BMW kind of mimics their UK option strategy as MB does in Canada. I wish we had MB like they offer in Germany, custom ordering with almost endless possibilities even on relatively ordinary models.

Really got the wife on board with the plan to get the house listed and move. Which will involve getting rid of a ton of stuff. And much shopping for new stuff.

A small truck of some sort is sounding like a perfect idea now for a 2nd car. Hopefully can make that work by year end. Though soon would be good if we try to fast(er) track the process of disposal.

Do it! I can’t be the only sicko around here to do it twice during this madness!

Farmer, we are passing on any downtown Condo. Or pretty much anything within walking distances of town. That seriously jacks up the selling price. Looking at surrounding towns in the county instead. Including Burnt Hills where Marco is going (we looked at a new build there on Friday). And no worries, if all I wanted was cheap, I am really familiar with where to find that up there!

Yes the BMW Canada option structure is similar to if not identical to that of BMW UK, based on what I've read in BMW CAR. I have the list of US packages and options, but no prices.

Also put another car so I’ll be going to another car show it will be going to is Curtis lumber is having a car show to tell my brother let me know about. He deals with him since he owns his own construction company for the lumber and materials that he gets every week. Jay Monroe don’t you worry I’m sticking around man, what will the punishment be admin admin‘s for being gone for quite some time ha ha Ha. New York car guy, thanks for your trucks in getting fixed as of 8 AM this morning. Did you say you got an F1 50 rental? Very very nice What are the specs on that rental truck you got, color. I think that’s it just trying to catch up on everything here I’ll check back in a little while everyone. PS, if anyone wants to help me upload pictures of my Thunderbird since I know a couple of you are dying to see it I want to do that for sure. I don’t care if it’s under someone else’s name which will be the best way to go about it that’s fine. As long as someone wouldn’t mind doing that just email me, in the above posting I think I put my email and stuff. Feel free to reach out anyone there as well my number is there too.

Some initial impressions of the rental. It is an F150 XLT. It has 4 full doors and what appears to be a regular (5'7"?) bed. Black with beige cloth guts & a bench in the 1st row. It is equipped with the Ecoboost V6. I don't know if it is the 2.7 or 3.5, but WOW! Holy acceleration Batman. This truck feels as fast or maybe even faster than my Infiniti. It is deceptively fast. I kept looking down at the speedo and noticed I was going 70 - 75+ (Not good where the posted speed limit is 50). The ride is smooth, although you feel the leaf springs in the rear. There is a fair amount of brake pedal travel before the brakes engage. Seats are comfortable. It is very spacious on the inside.

I’m probably the guy (or a guy like me) holding him up. There are just no cars left to rent. So as soon as they are returned we rush them off for cleaning, drive them back to the office, throw the keys to a waiting customer and grab another return for cleaning.

Congratulations Justin on the purchase of your new Hyundai Santa Cruz. You’re the first one and I think that’s white right love it. All the reviews I’ve seen through another colors. Black looks nice on this truck to as well but wipe the best. What dealer did you deal with, can you give us all the details please. How much do you win?

For those of us interested in the Maverick, it appears the EPA numbers on the 2.0T are 22/29 for AWD with the 4K tow package (I’m assuming no difference in rating without the tow package) and 23/30 for FWD. Also, they decided to discontinue offering the towing package with FWD.

  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,347
That is pretty good MPG for what it is.

No trailer hitch at all on the FWD? I would still want that, even without the wiring, just to hold he bike rack.

Speaking of GM styling… I pulled up next to a Disco today and realized for the first time it reminds me of a 9-7x. Pretty much just because of that C pillar and resulting odd rear side window.

That Santa Cruz is really quite stunning to be honest! If I needed a truck, that would be on my short list for sure but have no need for one. Hyundai/Kia sure have come a long way. Our daughter's 2019 Accent is doing great, a bit bigger than her 2008 model that her insurance totaled after her accident. Did like my Tucson but it was just too big for my needs. Our neighbor just got a new one in black and it looks beautiful, nicer than the Chevy Equinox she had previously.
At work today, saw at least four tractor trailers bringing in all kinds of cars/trucks. Saw a new white Corolla XSE hatch and was quite impressive looking. Just wish I could get over the blacked out alloys to be honest but I just don't like them one bit. Hoping the new Corolla Cross is everything I hope it will be and if not, hope they give the CH-R a serious makeover inside and out as I might have to get one of them...eventually. That rear blind spot is annoying with the black interior and it really needs some nicer alloys or bolt on hubcaps. If I got the LE nicer model, I'd swap out the alloys first thing with some nicer ones I found at Pep Boys of all places. They're polished aluminum like and look very sharp close up. Those blacked out alloys still leave me cold.

Yeah. For $4k the Advance package for the TLX does have a lot of nice extras from my pov. Makes it a pretty expensive car, but adding up what each feature is subjectively worth to me I come up with a total of c.6k—so it seems "worth it" in a "the more you buy the more you save way." If you don't drive much the 7500 a year lease might make it more possible. And since you're a current Volvo owner you'd be eligible for the 2500 conquest incentive. Still, I bet in most ways your Volvo is just as nice, and maybe even nicer.

    TLX Advance Package:
    Adaptive Damper System $1000
    LED Fog Lights $200
    Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers $400
    Power-Folding Side Mirrors $400
    LED Puddle Lights $200
    Acoustic Front Side Glass $200
    Windshield De-Icer $400
    Natural Open-Pore Wood Trim $600
16-Way Power-Adjustable Front Sport Seats $400 (vs 12-way for the other trim levels)
Perforated Milano Premium Leather with Contrast Stitching & Piping $100 (unique seat design for advance)
    Ventilated Front Seats $200
3-Level Heated Rear Outboard Seats $400
    Heated Steering Wheel $400
ELS STUDIO 3D® Premium Audio with 17 Speakers including 4 Highline™ Overhead Speakers $400
    Wireless Charger $200
    10.5-Inch Head-Up Display (HUD) $400
    Surround-View Camera System $400

I do still like my previous generation TLX. It's solid, luxurious, and sporty. And, knock on wood, nothing has gone wrong with it so far. Right now I'm thinking I'll keep till it's ten years old or so.

But thank goodness they ditched the Goodyear tires for the new generation of TLX. Now the Advance package cars anyway seem to get Michelins.
