It sounds like Ford dropped the bomb on dealers with pending Maverick orders:
RETAIL ORDER SCHEDULING CRITERIA While Ford still plans to produce a limited number of 2022 model year Mavericks for dealer stock inventory, the priority for remaining production will go to unscheduled Maverick retail orders based on the date they were submitted by the customer’s Ford dealership, vehicle model and configuration selected, part availability, and the number of vehicles the customer’s Ford dealership receives:
1. Retail order receipt date (oldest retail orders scheduled first) 2. Vehicle model and configuration selected relative to capacity constraints on these specific optional features and packages: [...]
They recommend modifying orders to remove constraints. The only constraint I have is the CoPilot 360 package. I'm just going to roll the dice on that since I want those features. Worst case, I end up leasing a Tacoma instead (or a Frontier if they are still going cheap).
that isn't really a change though. It has been that way all along. I don't think they ever built any stock units for the hybrid either. The big issue has been the allocation process they were using for customer orders too, not just stock units.
good news though, since they stopped taking orders even if they give the big dealers 1st dibs, at some point they will run out of orders and the little dealers will finally get theirs. Just stinks for people that ordered really early that keep getting line jumped. at this point they should just stop considering allocation status and just build FIFO.
Corvette, I saw on the forums ford corporate finally sent out an e-mail to dealer warning that not all orders are likely going to make it as MY 22. Highly dependent ant on constraints. Even though my hybrid was a late order and has a bunch of constrained items, I’m gonna let it ride. They may scare other people into dropping features they really want!
My guess, if they don’t get every order built, it will be close. Remains to be seen if they roll the rest into 23 with first build priority.
Yes, that was the memo I was quoting from. No mention of first build priority in 2023 or price protection. I’m guessing I’ll know by August when the Tundra goes back whether mine is scheduled in the 2022 run.
I would say by June everything getting a build date will have them. Those have usually been handed out about 2 months in advance.
One dealer does YouTube chats and gives out great info. He thinks there will be some sort of order rollover at least, and probably price protection. But details not announced publicly.
Still no guarantee they aren’t building all the orders though, but seems likely at this point.
I just received this in my email. $2,500 off from a custom order F150, or $2,000 off on Ranger. No mention of Maverick, of course.
I have in hand a $2,500 private offer from Ford on an F150, so this would give me a total of $5k off MSRP. Of course, when I purchased my 2018 F150 I got it for $10k below window sticker.
Still, $5k below MSRP sounds pretty good for the current market.
Are you sure those will stack? I got a $750 private offer on the Maverick and it appears you can also get $500 if you are a member of (or join) a Farm Bureau, but I don’t think they stack.
There are a number of F150 Models which are excluded, Raptor, Lightning, etc. Whether this new offer will stack with the Private Cash Offer is hard to determine. I called the dealer which sent the email, and talked to some woman who didn't have a clue. I asked if the offers would stack, and she said they would not stack. She then went on to say I could use both together. Which reminded me of the Seinfeld clip that someone posted recently, we seem to have different definitions of the word stack. When I pointed that out, she hung up the phone on me. Which may be a first, I don't recall ever having a car salesman hang up the phone on me.
I guess that's a symptom of the present times. Car salesmen are now arrogant. "Beg me to sell you the car, or s___ off." I think I'll choose "s___ off".
On Edit: I talked to a different salesman, at a different Ford dealer. That email I received was targeted specifically at recipients of the private cash offer. They are the same, not two separate things. Ford notified the local Ford dealers of people who had received the private cash offer. A little "targeted advertising" going on there.
The flipside of that is, "hey, isn't that the vehicle that almost killed Tiger Woods?"
I'd say that flipside is the more relevant side by far given it was a 1-vehicle crash too. Get a car that actually handles well and it wouldn't have been a crash at all

this one should be interesting. Wonder if I show up in my Maverick if they will hand me the keys for a test drive? A little big maybe, but sounds like it must have great seats (and for $12,000 for the optional seat package, it better!)
actually seems to be a lot of miles for a 2020 (of this brand)
Given the Maverick shortages as reported on the Maverick boards, I suspect it should be an even trade. Congrats on the upgrade to real wood trim and bespoke leather seats!
BMW fixed that issue in the US starting with the F22 2 Series; now the most powerful non-M motor in every series is badged as an M Performance model- which also gets you a more aggressive M Sport suspension and brakes. Having said all that, I absolutely love the M Sport package on my wife's X1 28i. Of course it's certainly no ball of fire, but the handling is impressive for a CUV- I think that the 18" wheels/tires help a lot. And anyone who thinks the M Sport suspension is too stiff should just check themselves into the nearest assisted living facility.

New car day tomorrow! We are supposed to pick up our new Highlander tomorrow evening!
Congrats! Are they taking the Tacoma, or is that just getting turned back in?
I've submitted for some online quotes. I think my buyout is $31K. Carvana $25,482, AlGo $31,000, CarMax $34,500 (they want me to bring it in), Autonation $32,500. I'm going to see what the Toyota dealer will give me tonight. I'll keep you posted.

At least you can sell it still. Lots of brands can’t. Though trading it in at a Toyota dealer makes that a moot point anyway.
Carvana absolutely hampers you for the dirty carfax.
Hopefully dealer gives you a little money out of it. Better than nothing. Risky turning it down though since carmax might give you a haircut! Should stop there first.

Wife is eyeballing the CX9, mostly because the lease isn't awful on it. By my initial numbers, $42k MSRP (Touring AWD w/Premium and some other add-ons) could be had for about $435-440/mo all in for 30/12. Wrangler is cheaper, but happy wife...

CX9 is nice. They lease really well compared to every other 3 row SUV. You've only got 2 kids, so it might be good for someone who rarely or never uses the 3rd row.

good thought. I will run up tomorrow and see it they bite. Just afraid I might have to kick in a few bucks too.
I bet though they would love to take the Mav off my hands.
If “kicking in” a few bucks bothers you just hand it to them. And for what it’s worth I’d keep the hard to come by Maverick unless they play hard ball with ya.

Seems to be leasing well vs every other suv, regardless of rows, other than the 4xe. I'd personally love to trick talk her into a Durango R/T, but the RV is pretty awful, making it a bad lease.

Broke down some numbers for her because we were kind of stuck thinking about leasing (in this awful market) vs buy CPO. Looks like leasing (at least the CX9 example) is still better. I was showing her ~$30k CPO vehicles.
We'd have to put down $12k to get a $400/mo payment for 60 mos. The CX9 lease is $400/mo with $1500 down. Lease special is 30 mos, so you have nothing after 30 mos and have paid $13.5k total. After 30 mos with the CPO, we'd have paid $24k, owe $12k, and the car would be worth ~$18k (was using a $32k XT5 for numbers). So that means net cost of $18k.

I'm signing the paperwork today to sell the Jeep - my Rubicon still is in the scheduling phase 6 weeks after placing the order. I'm thinking it is the Gorilla glass that did me in to slow it down.
So, the question remains: what do I get as a short-term hold over where I won't lose more than 2-3k?

In this market, unless you bought an absolute dog, I can’t imagine you losing much of anything.
What’s your budget again? Once upon a time 6-8k would have bought you an appropriate beater to get you though the gap with minimal expense. Now, I’d be afraid 6-8k wouldn’t even have the basics functioning and would be dripping fluids like a British sports car.

I owned a 2008 Passat, not the wagon, but basically the same car. Purchased new, kept 5 years and a little over 100k miles. There were no electrical disasters. If I were looking for a cheap used car, I would definitely consider buying one.
I'm going to state the obvious now - 100k in 5 years is actually very different than a 12 year old car with 80k. I'm willing to bet it is on the verge of becoming a maintenance nightmare just by age.

The only sport package component I want is the seats. So if that’s a deal breaker can always try and find a used set.
I actually don’t mind the base seats. They are OK enough. My wife prefers them. She doesn’t like the extending cushion, even fully back.
