Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. After Edmunds screwed up my old name a few years ago when their system hiccuped and they got enormous fallout from that I thought they put safeguards in place to prevent that from ever happening again. Now it appears a newbie may be testing the new set up. :#

Got an email from my Chevy sales guy, wants me to come in Thursday to sign some paperwork and says we can change the color from silver to the ice blue one. Guessing that Chevy will be accepting the order once I sign the paperwork. Just have to decide if I really want to go through with this. Unlike others, I'd rather take delivery in about 10 months so will have to see if that's going to be possible. So, once I see him on Thursday, I'll either have a signed contract or have decided to wait awhile longer.
Guess I'm just not ready to give up my VW quite yet. It's been behaving itself very nicely and since I'm hardly putting any miles on it, getting something new right now just don't make any sense. Haven't told the family yet as not sure how well it'll go over with the other half. Seems I have a lot of thinking to do these next few days.

Sometimes tackling a difficult job, and successfully getting it done, can give you a real sense of accomplishment. And that sense of accomplishment can spill over on to the object you were working on, making you feel more attached, making you view it more favorably.

Sort of, except back then I believe some Honda execs were taking bribes from dealers to improve their allocations.

Around here, you don't have any choice about pumping your own gas. For the life of me, I cannot remember the last time I saw a full service gas station.

Okay, I just checked with Google, and there are a few around. The closest one to me is about 6 or 7 miles away, and there appear to be 8 total within a 25 mile radius. And that 25 mile radius is going to encompass somewhere north of 2 million people.

I obviously said that jokingly because I have no idea where a full service station is around me anymore. There was one I remember about 5 years ago but they threw in the towel and are self serve now.

What I will NEVER get over is that Mrs. j puts gas in her car and has ever since full service went away decades ago. When self serve went into effect she wanted me to show her how to do it and she grasped it right away. The only thing she can’t do is stop the pump on an even dollar. Always goes over by a few cents. When she’s with me and I put gas in the car I always give her the receipt to get a reaction from her. She just shakes her head and says, “how do you do that?”. I say practice. It takes practice. She gets irritated and says, “I’ve had years of practice and I can’t do it”. Then when I’m in the mood I usually say something that, if we weren’t in the car, would earn me a few laps around the dining room table.

    It is never easy.

Set about to servicing the Gloria this weekend. On the plus side, it was so well preserved that everything came apart relatively easily. Air filter was surprisingly grungy and was old enough to break apart upon removal. Lots of room in front of the engine once you remove the fan and shroud. Water pump has seen better days and the coolant appears original. T-belt was in excellent shape, but rubber is rubber and that was the goal anyway, so out it came. Good thing is all the hoses are excellent as well, so keeping those. The roadblock finally came upon reassembly. It would seem this spec of the VG30E uses a deeper water pump and, thereby, deeper offset pulley. So the original pulley and new pump don't combine to create the right clearance. Ugh.

Finding a replacement pulley is a challenge thus far. It is discontinued. Found a used one on ebay, but it is pretty poor condition and the seller wants $40 for it, AND it wouldn't arrive for a week, if at all (his feedback suggests he sometimes forgets to mail things). I'm going to head to Home Depot tomorrow and see if I can put together a fix.

Ok. Here we go again. Got a text from the dealership. Do I want them to change the oil and rotate the tires, it’s covered.

“Ok sure. They do all 5 tires, correct?”

“No. They only do 4 tires. If you want the 5th tire rotated it will be an extra $84.50 plus tax.”

Ok: just do the 4 tires.

Jeep dealer here doesn’t charge more for 5 tire rotation. They asked what I wanted. I said 5. They did 4. At least they changed the oil.

Looks like you do have to call Jeep Wave to get a rental. Apparently you pay and they reimburse you.

It's a trade off. You can choose to freeze to death in the winter, or broil in the summers. Myself, I always wanted to be a "snowbird". Spend the summers high up in the Rockies, northern New Mexico, Colorado, somewhere like that. Then spend the winters in a more tropical climate, Arizona or southern California.

Or, if I win the lottery, just buy my own island in the South Seas and live there year around.

Speaking of drastic weather, I see Europe is really getting blasted right now with a heat wave. And the forecast here is for triple digits later this week. Lovely weather.
