Realized my signature was lacking. I think I got it all in there now.
Speaking of, I saw a '22 WR Blue Pearl WRX on my way home last night. They really butchered that car. I'm sure it drives great, but that lower cladding, the tail lights. It just doesn't look good from any angle.

I realized the best part of my WRX is that the wife can't drive it so she can't mess it up. I don't even like getting in the Jeep anymore due to the mess. So far, she seems to keep the Volvo fairly tidy.

I seriously considered a WRX since they seem to be discounting them locally and they seem to lease maybe a bit better than the Elantra N. I just couldn't get over the styling and relatively speaking the interior of the N is much better looking.
I believe there was a request for some photos - I will snag some today.

My wife is generally keeps things more clean and organized than I do. She's the one who spots the crumb on the floor from across the room. Every time I get into her car, there are hair clips in the door pockets that rattle around, her work bag, flip flops, a can of tennis balls... As soon as I turn out of the driveway things start rolling around. It is maddening

I'm supposedly on a list for the Seattle Toyota dealer for inbound GR86s, but I've never heard anything and sort of forgot about it until seeing Breld's post. But I get the appeal.
Meanwhile, I recently did the Naches trail, a well-known offroad route in WA, in the Montero. Boy, was it buggy. https://youtu.be/tFrl0uAcpdg

Couple new Elantras in as many days here on the forum...and even praise from @andres3! Go Hyundai!
I've kinda backed off for now on the higher priced performance cars (Supra, Z, M240i) in favor of the more affordable (if you can find them) options...Civic Si, GTI, GR86.
I asked my Toyota salesperson to keep me updated on the special edition GR86 for 2023 (special edition being an exclusive orange color and unique wheels). And I'm casually looking for any Civic Si inventory (@michaell is doing the same and helping out!). Maybe stretch for an Integra, as they just seem more attainable.
And gotta say, I'm liking the more restrained look of the Type R...but it was challenging enough to get one 5 years ago in that market.
Corolla GR?
Nah - too gaudy. (Just kidding coming from a former Type R owner).
@breld and I talked about the Polestar on Saturday. Asked him if he was going to keep it until the end of the lease (I think he said he was 14 months in the 39 month term).
Y'all get three guesses as to his answer, and the first two don't count.
If my salesperson does have a G42 in 111 status I might, repeat, MIGHT go ahead and take it. I want a small coupe that’s at least a little faster than my current 2er. A couple of enthusiasts I trust are adamant that the xDrive feels like RWD under most conditions so I suppose I could live with it. It’s the only thing I’ve found under $60k that interests me. Aside from that I think the only other cars I could live with are the M2 Comp or the M4 Comp. The domestic V8 ponycars I actually could see myself owning cost as much or more than those two so I’m likely going to be in a holding pattern for some time.

I think my problem is that I spend all day answering questions from members about lease numbers, and a lot of the cars they are looking at pique my interest.
While I may not swap cars out like @breld or @qbrozen, I mentally hop from one car to another.
"Maybe I want a truck?" "No, a coupe" "Perhaps something with a stick shift" "New or used?" "Do I want a car of my own, or should I find something that the wife would be OK with, and trade in the Subaru?"
Whatever happens, I do believe it will be the last car I get, as I want to keep it for 10+ years.

Though I can't think of one time where he's taken my advice.

I found a way around that, too:
In Alaska, after your vehicle is more than eight *model* years old, you can get permanent registration for it. We call them "Z" tags for the letter that is on the sticker where the expiration year normally goes. From a practical perspective, this means that you have to buy five stickers for it (biannual renewal here) before you're eligible for the Z tag. The Z tag doesn't follow to new ownership (they have to repurchase the Z tag or go back to the biannual).
So, I just keep my cars until they're ~10+ years old, then no more registration fees. Four of my six vehicles are there with my Q7 eligible upon the next renewal.
2018 Subaru Crosstrek, 2014 Audi Q7 TDI, 2013 Subaru Forester, 2013 Ford F250 Lariat D, 1976 Ford F250, 1969 Chevrolet C20, 1969 Ford Econoline 100
Hahahaha! That got me laughing so hard. With a (nearly) 15-year-old, I know EXACTLY what that expression sounds like!
Last night, we were at the local fairgrounds so we could check out the exhibits (four of which included submissions by my daughter), and we came across this "recycled art" category that included a division for "lid art." I honestly didn't know that is a thing, but apparently it is. One of them was a huge arrangement on a full 4x8 sheet of plywood made into the likeness of a meadow with a large sunflower in the middle.
I stood back for a minute pondering it, then said, "Wow; that's not liddle at all, is it?"
My daughter stared me down and deadpans: "Get. OUT!"

The G42 is a tick faster. I do like the interior and the availability of a HUD.
By “live with” I’m referring to a car that I could keep for a minimum of 5 to 6 years without getting bored with it. That eliminates most all BMW sedans and SUVs save the true M models. Really.
When in full N mode in the DCT, pressing it will give you 10 extra HP for 20 seconds. It’s stupid.
In the manual, the red button turns auto rev match on and off.
It’s definitely got a couple boy racer things like that, but for the most part I like how it’s done. I’ve gotten more compliments from the most unexpected places.

I'm in a similar boat, I really like the last two cars I've bought for myself, and if they are worth about $30K in trade, anything costing about that much used (or new) gets compared to it naturally. Veloster N was asking 37K and it had 31K miles!

Pretty sure on the commute home on the freeway I was behind (and a lane or two over) an Elantra N playing with that button because the exhaust sound snapped my neck for attention!!!! That usually only happens with big muscle and V8's or larger. Somebody was being a boy racer just commuting in a straight line on the Interstate.

I vaguely remember reports of people saying Nissan told them the launch counter couldn't be over 3 on the GTR for warranty purposes.

I go back and forth in my head as well like most of you. There’s no perfect vehicle out there. I’ve got a budget like the rest of you. I’m willing to take a chance on something if the price and terms of the deal are right. I’ve said this before, but I’d like to have one more stick shift car as I believe they are going to be the 1st to be phased out as manufacturers have pledged to phase out our beloved internal combustion engine for battery powered cars.
Right now I absolutely LOVE my Wrangler. It’s comfortable, cool, quick, gets good mileage, and I open the roof as long as it isn’t raining. Even in the 90 something degree, humid days.
As ugly as it is, I might be very willing to drive a WRX 6MT for a few years just because they hold their value so well and I could get away with a 10K per year lease (like with the Wrangler). A Civic Si is another possibility since it will be around and stay pretty much the same once the craziness is over.
I really like the looks of the ‘22 TLX Type S. I don’t see myself spending $55K on one, but there might be some nice CPO out there one day.

The Prius threw a red triangle of death light this morning and the ICE would not shut off. The hybrid battery was showing the lowest charge level and the battery cooling fan would not stop running. I guess my cheap fix of replacing a single module didn’t last very long. Backed it into the garage and going to pull codes when I get home from work.

I realized the best part of my WRX is that the wife can't drive it so she can't mess it up. I don't even like getting in the Jeep anymore due to the mess. So far, she seems to keep the Volvo fairly tidy.

Yeah we knew that. They like it better when the ink is dry so they don’t have a mess working with wet pages but I guess you’ve found a way around that.

Wouldn’t the 2022 m240 be faster with 382 hp and 369 ft lb vs the m235 322 hp and 332 ft lb? Even faster 0-60 with AWD???
But that block on the bottom and sides is kinda wonky…

While I may not swap cars out like @breld or @qbrozen, I mentally hop from one car to another.
"Maybe I want a truck?"
"No, a coupe"
"Perhaps something with a stick shift"
"New or used?"
"Do I want a car of my own, or should I find something that the wife would be OK with, and trade in the Subaru?"
Whatever happens, I do believe it will be the last car I get, as I want to keep it for 10+ years.

OUT!"
Time and again a truck and/or convertible finds its way into my internal bargaining.

The G42 is a tick faster. I do like the interior and the availability of a HUD.
By “live with” I’m referring to a car that I could keep for a minimum of 5 to 6 years without getting bored with it. That eliminates most all BMW sedans and SUVs save the true M models. I guess it says a lot for my current 2 Series that I see virtually nothing under $50k-new or used- that I like better.

You been practicing your front wheel burnouts?🤣😂
He just goes in reverse to do those.

How many button pushes for an extra 10 HP to get your warranty cancelled on the button counter in the ECU?
