    Hello Wyoming and Texas.

I'll guess all the folks in Wyoming paying $1K/mo live in Jackson Hole.

Can't imagine anyone in Laramie, Cheyenne or Casper paying that much.

Oh, if it is ALL payments, yeah, that could make a huge difference. I'm still not there, but technically could be if you figure we paid cash for the Sprinter and now just took out a HEL that I wouldn't have needed if I had that cash.

OH, forgot to mention that my wife saw this and said we should do a similar graphic scheme on the Sprinter. Fantastic idea, IMHO.

    Hello Wyoming and Texas.

    What the..... I cannot imagine!

Not surprised about the high numbers where they show up.... high percent of trucks in those regions (well, outside of CA), and trucks are expensive even in their cheapest form. I'm somewhat surprised that Alaska isn't in the yellow, TBH, because we're surely over 33% trucks on the road.

Pretty sure that it is single payments at that level. Otherwise, a higher percent wouldn't surprise me in the least.

However, if all payments... how would they know? I think there would be a lot of conjecture involved.

I think only Montana has the LLC shortcut.

Though, my cousin's son in MO posted on FB that everyone there should register their car in SD - no taxes, and no residency requirement needed either.

I can see it from their perspective. they work off the books they have, and know from experience it is a bad idea to send something that won't fit since all that can happen is they get something back they can't use. Probably doing most people a favor keeping them out of trouble.

any time you go off the matrix it will take special handling. either that or they agree to send what you want but no returns!

The rear opening of the sprinter is 61". Plenty of room. And, being RHD, I can easily open the door once inside thanks to the side sliding door of the van. It is almost like it was made for the task. lol.

    Just don’t do this:

Reminds me of a guy on Edmunds in a Mustang topic many years ago; he annoyed everyone for months agonizing over the correct color combo for the Mustang he was ordering. When he finally got the car he noted a paint imperfection that was only visible lying on his back and looking at the underside of the rear bumper. One wag commented that that type of paint damage was usually due to the car falling off the hauler during delivery.. Things got even more entertaining from that point...
    That guy sounds like me.😢

    Hello Wyoming and Texas.

I would imagine that in those two states you need a big truck for plowing snow or hauling cattle. Those aren’t cheap. As stickguy said, in NY a lot of city people don’t drive and us upstaters buy rusted out hoopties for cash which skews the statistics.

The largest payment I ever had was about $450/mo. @ 1.89%..

The newer ones (18’+ I think) have an active exhaust option. You can switch to several settings from quiet to obnoxious. I had to drive one once where the customer had left it set to the loudest level and I couldn’t find the switch to turn it down. Made for a dramatic entrance into the parking garage.

I had to go to Borla to get mine to sound better.

I agree for the most part; what aggravated me was that Bavsound had a YouTube installation video that used the E36 convertible kit for a 318ti. I'm just glad that they corrected the problem.

Can't remember if I mentioned it or not, but I also went ahead and placed a deposit on a Polestar 3.

I've been exploring options to move on from the Polestar 2 so I can try something else out before the 3 arrives (at least a year away). So when people recommend to my wife and I that we should just lease, my response is usually along the lines of, "a lease tends to be too restrictive," and that's being proven out here...
    • A Ford dealer who really wanted to take the Polestar in and sell me a Mach E contacted the Volvo/Polestar dealer who told them only a Volvo/Polestar dealer could take it in on trade. Based on reading the contract, not sure that's right, but okay.
    • Went to the dealership network that includes Polestar to get a trade, thinking they could simply buy it back. The payoff they come back with includes sales tax, which I point out, but they insisted that's the payoff they'd be subject to.
    • Talked to Polestar Financial Services directly about the early term provision. Got a quote, but their wholesale value is $2,500 less than the trade offers I've received (the trade offers were in line with the payoff before sales tax).
So, what I've realized is how distinct the dealership is from the financial arm (kinda knew that, but this really emphasized the point). And...the Polestar 2 is perfectly fine and not worth the hassle to move on from.

Volvo finance (assuming that’s what Polestar uses) is probably the most restrictive captive finance company

Only way you get out is to buy/lease another one and the dealer can then buy it out without tax.

I think I probably had 8-10% back in the 80s. Much cheaper cars though!

If the interest rate increase is too much to handle, you (not you personally, the royal you) probably are spending too much on the car anyway. So don’t buy, or get something cheaper.

"But I want the Belchfire Unobtanium trim with the optional hydra-duty transmission and rich Corinthian leather"

And now you begin to understand how people are ending up with $1K/mo car payments.

I'm pretty sure I had a few loans in the 80's at that rate as well. I think the most expensive car we got at that time was the '88 Isuzu Trooper, which was a dealer demo and we got it for $17K.
