Better to be extra careful sandy.

If you need to get work done now I would recommend the shower idea to replace the tub.

Henryn, you were quite lucky not to get hurt, I usually get beaten up pretty badly. This is the first time I did some real physical damage in the bathroom. Someone is coming from one of these companies tomorrow to quote us a roll in shower which might just be the answer. Since I use the kids bathroom all the time, might be the answer for my issues. But do plan to keep the walker on my side of the bed going forward and use it at night.
One thing about the walker, I wouldn't be able to keep my Enterprise gig if I had to use it full time I'm guessing. As of now, I'm the only driver using a cane to walk and really doubt they'd allow me to use the walker. And I guess I wouldn't blame them to be honest. One needs to be able to move somewhat quickly at times. But seriously considering retiring again at this point.

The gentrification of my neighborhood continues. New home construction has not been slowed by the interest rate increase. I suspect that's because the majority of the new construction is by large outfits building to rent, and paying cash, not financing.

They just tore down another old house on Friday, 3 doors down from me. They took the weekend off, and are back today hauling off the remains of the house.

I don't mind renters, I just hate AirBnB.

On Edit: I intended to post this in Cars and Conversations, but I think mostly it's the same audience, so no harm.

Fell in the bathroom about 4 am Saturday morning & really got beaten up. I hit the glass shower enclosure with my right side and hit the left side of my face on the toilet causing a bloody bruise. My right side is in a lot of pain and one of my fingers is black & blue...feel like a truck hit me! Broke the glass shower enclosure but the glass didn't shatter luckily so now we need to replace the whole thing or put a walk-in shower & take the existing tub out. But it's all unusable now which really sucks. Only positive here is that it could've been a lot worse to be honest. Still basically in bed and using the walker to get around. When I slipped, the cane went flying as I hit the ground. Glad my middle child was here for the weekend as she was quick to respond & get me cleaned up and back into bed.
Life is never dull I must say! Guessing my blood pressure dropped which caused me to fall. Unfortunately, this is the third time I've fallen in less than a year in the middle of the night. Have decided to just start using the walker at night for the added support walking. This getting older sucks when we have issues & since my surgery in 2018, I've had more than a few falling issues. Having to use the bathroom at night is proving to be a bit problematic for me I guess. I've also been thinking a lot these past couple of days & think it might be time to either go down to two days a week at work or to stop completely as I've been having more bad days than good...not a good thing! When I see my pain doctor next Monday, will discuss this with him. Wanted to work another couple of years till I turn 70 but that just not happen. This chronic pain situation is getting a bit out of hand!

Sorry to hear you got hurt. My wife who has had several strokes has the same problem with balance and falls occasionally. I’ve installed railings for her to grab on to in the bathroom and around the house. Maybe that would help you also.

Turns out I fell closer to 6 am Saturday, all I know as since I got sick Thursday afternoon, these last few days have been kind of a blur. But, better to be alive & live as long as I can to be honest. I just know that since my twin died a couple of years ago last month, death has been on my mind more so than usual. Losing our two older siblings in their late 50's was a wake up call honestly but after I became like an only child, did it really hit home that life is a precious commodity and I'm just not ready to leave yet! So many things I still want to do so best to be positive about things. That's why it truly sucks that since my accident in 2005, pain has become a variable in my everyday life...a major variable. And it doesn't only effect me. The kids and my wife don't really have 100% of me in that it's hard to make plans as I never know how I'm going to feel when I wake up. Over the years, I've had to miss some major milestones in our lives as I was just in too much pain to travel & do things. And just like the air, just because we can't see it doesn't mean it isn't real. The kids are more forgiving, let's just leave it at that. I try the best I can to go out & do things but again, I never know how I'm going to feel.
Will do whatever makes the most sense with the bathroom/shower/tub situation. Will see what the Bathfitter folks have to say tomorrow & might also call the Re-Bath folks to get their take. The third option would be to just replace the existing doors & put grab bars inside the tub so I have something to hold onto in case I feel like I'm going to fall. Being it such a small space, that might be the only solution for the time being. And I can always go back to using the step down master shower that Bathfitter's did about 8 years ago as the grab bars are already there from 2005. So, the next few days will be interesting.
So far, my boss at work has been very understanding. My new schedule was supposed to start today but that has been moved back till next Tuesday. I'll be on a Monday, Tuesday, Friday rotation which gives me a better rotation than the Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday one I'm about to leave. Having those two days off after working two on will give my body more of a chance to rest itself I'm hoping. And it's something I've been asking for for awhile now. Something must've happened between Wednesday when he told me a change can't be made right now till Friday when the change is now possible. Funny how sometimes that old adage where one wants a certain outcome to happen...and it finally does happen. The "be careful what you wish for...as it might indeed come true" adage seems to be happening here. I'm just hoping it's really going to be what I want as on paper, it seems to work 100%. I've gotten so used to my three day weekends but it's probably best health wise to tweak that a bit. The one positive here is that I've got the next few days to relax & heal my body & soul...something I desperately need right now!
Life sure throws us some curve balls sometimes. Guess it all depends how we deal with them I guess. Hopefully by next week, life here will calm down once again. Too much change all at once is not always a positive thing!

Sandy, sorry to hear of your latest mishap. Just so you know, taking out a bathtub is a major job as they are usually fastened to the studs behind the wall finish, tile, or whatever lines the tub surround. So you are looking at a gut job in that area, not something a BathFitter type outfit can usually do. I think what you described involving replacing the door (or perhaps just converting to a rod and shower curtain) with grab bars lining the inside of the area might be the most cost-effective way to go.

I’m still getting familiar with this new Silverado, a process which is going to take a while. My only disappointment so far is that it doesn’t have blind spot warning. I have that on the Pacifica, and miss it on the Chevy.

In the area of safety equipment, it does have:
    Automatic Emergency Braking
    Forward Collision Alert
    Front Pedestrian Braking
Lane Keep Assist W/Lane Departure Warning
    Following Distance Indicator

All of which is fine, but I would trade all of the above for blind spot warning.

On a more positive note, I really like the 13.4 inch screen, and the Android Auto integration on this unit is really nice. Much more impressive than the Android Auto on my Pacifica. Which probably has to do with being 4 years newer.

I wanted to order WeatherTech or Husky floor liners, but I haven’t yet. WeatherTech has really gone up on their prices, the bottom line with tax and delivery is $290. And Husky only has a front liner, no rear is available. I will probably order the WeatherTech liners, but so far I’m balking at the price. I have ordered a soft tri-fold tonneau cover. I always have one of those on my new trucks, just to keep things out of sight. I never put one on the work truck, as it’s very hard to find a tonneau for an 8 ft bed.

Very surprising about the lack of blind spot warning.

Agree on WeatherTech. Mine for the Jeep were in that neighborhood. Good product though. And made in the USA.

I noticed that on the window sticker. seems like a silly thing to leave off, especially on something that large with huge blindspots. It has all the gear for lane keep, etc. so not much extra required.

BLIS/cross path is definitely a requirement for me. Most of the rest of that stuff is more of an annoyance.

The rear liners are definitely not a custom fit. The pictures on their web site show the liner fitting up to an underseat storage compartment, which my truck does not have. On the Weathertech web site, they show 2 different part numbers for the rear liner, one with underseat storage compartment, one without. If I bought this, and it didn't cover the entire rear floor, I would be most unhappy.

And if you look at the specs for the rear liner (to check the dimensions), it gives the specs (dimensions) for the front floor liners, not helpful.

I have bought WeatherTech and Husky liners in the past, and been well pleased. If I do bite the bullet here, it will probably be one of those brands.

It does have large outside rear view mirrors. If you're paying attention, you're not going to run over anyone. I just rather like that feature on the Pacifica. If I glance at the outside rear view mirror, there is a warning light in one corner which I immediately notice. And if you turn on the turn signal, you get an immediate audible warning. All of which I like, but can live without.

@henryn - I forgot which brand of floor liners I got for the Maverick, but they we’re about 2/3 the price of the Weathertechs, and they are good quality. They may have been Husky Liners.

In my experience, Husky is about 20% less than WeatherTech. But they do not have a rear floor liner for this new truck, only the front. Rough Country sells a floor liner set for $170 (big savings), but they explicitly state it only fits the rear if you have the underseat storage. Which I do not have.

When it rains...it pours. Our oldest in Orlando was in a car accident on the Florida Turnpike going into Orlando coming from their home in St. Cloud. She's a bit shook up but fine. Car has a lot of damage but it can be fixed...she's fine that's all I care about. The truck who hit her tried to flee but she flagged down a cop & waiting to see what her front dash cam has. Her husband is a real techy & insisted on a front dash cam for her safety. Guess she'll find out how her Chevy Cruise made out tomorrow. Why would that guy try to flee after causing an acident is my question? It's always something folks!
On a brighter note, feeling a bit less sore which is great. Found a guy on Takl who came by earlier & fixed the shower doors! Turns out they were never put on correctly, so he fixed the bent piece and added the left out piece those lousy installers I had left out. Should've known I made a mistake when they shattered the first glass doors as they installed them! They had to go buy new ones on their dime. But my fault for hiring two guys starting out in the business. They really had no clue what they were doing!
Thanks all for the get well wishes. It's never easy getting older when one has health issues. Will be having grab bars installed in that shower in a week or two...the guy who came today said he knows how to do them & we'll be happy. Just hope life quiets down going forward! Plan to take the next few days off to just relax as I haven't had a vacation in like three years now. A few days of peace & quiet will do wonders for my head I think!

When I had my 2011 Regal I wanted to buy liners but the WeatherTech prices were through the roof (got to pay for all that advertising somehow). On an owners forum I found chatter about another source of liners that were made in Poland IIRC and were a fraction of the WT price. I ordered them and they were great, fit perfectly. I presume there are Silverado message boards out there so maybe snoop around there.

Sandy - I'm sorry your daughter's car got smashed up. I'm glad she's ok and uninjured.

@xwesx - living in South Florida is one of those "there's no free lunch" places. My best friend recently moved to Boca Raton. Yes there's no state income tax, but the amount he's paying in insurance (car, home, umbrella) compared to CT is crazy high. The car insurance is nuts because South Florida is the "personal injury capital of the world." Plus all the stolen cars and uninsured drivers. He's always been one to have a lot of insurance coverage. He's reduced the coverage to the point where it isn't the bare state minimum, but nowhere near where he is comfortable and he's still paying a lot more.

I worked for the postal service in Boca Raton and our pharmacist daughter lives there now. But yes, insurance prices have gone up crazy high this past year. I would've liked to have bought a house in Boca as I lived in a few apartments there from 1977 to 1981 but we moved just one town southwest & now, couldn't be happier! And yes, insurance prices are spinning out of control here, both vehicle & property rates are going up. Not much one can do as under insuring is just not an option here. Just have to stop spending elsewhere to make up the difference I guess.
I have the Monster Mats in my Golf that came with the vehicle. It came with two sets of mats but have never used the carpeted ones and are in my hatch to this day.

Just spoke with my kid. She's feeling better & going over to Enterprise to get her rental. Life goes on...as it should! Hopefully, she'll relax a bit today & rest her body. I'm still home until I see my pain doc on Monday. Think the rest will do me well, mentally & physically, as life can not always be all about work & nothing else! Not going to make any decisions about continuing to work as now isn't the time. Important decisions like this need to be made when one is calm & not in stress mode. Taking one day at a time is what I'll be doing going forward & maybe the best thing to do might be going down to two days a week as an alternative. That's what I'm leaning towards to be honest right now. But first must see if my new schedule offer is still on the table as I did tell my boss "yes" so hoping things have not changed with my being out this whole week. It's just ironic that a day after I asked for a change, an opening did in fact come up in the crew I want to join. How weird is that! I guess I'll find out next week.

I get the feeling C&B reps are directed to stall those with new listings so it doesn't seem like such a long wait in the end. For example, 2 days ago, I get a message at the very end of the day that they need a clearer pic of the odo. I submitted one originally but they said "it is too blurry." Totally legible, but OK. So I take another pic and send it. Wait 24 hours, then I get another message saying " we need more pics. Please take a look at this list of all that should be included." So why didn't you say that before? I go through the list and, seriously, what I was missing from the "suggested list" was silly.
    1. Glovebox open.
    2. Front of car with lights on.
    3. carpets with matts removed.

And, to try to head them off, I replaced some I already had, such as "head on of each tire" (my original were at a slight angle" and door jambs (I had the jambs in pics, but didn't do shots that featured them from and center). Now I have to wait 24 hrs for another reply.

Now I KNOW they are messing with me!
Tonight's message? They want me to retake a few of the exterior pics because "the car is touching the edge of the photos." You can't make this stuff up.

I just ordered the winter mat set in both mavericks. Pretty cheap (maybe )140? For front and rear. Plus the fronts have “maverick” molded in!

Is that for folks like back in the 70’s who had a decal installed at the top of their windshield that blazed Camaro, Pontiac, Ford, etc. Personally, I never forgot what kind of a car I owned.

Help! Where can I sell my Mazda 5 fast in Toronto? I need money for a new car, and I want to sell this one today. I'm tired of it

You could try online car dealers like Canada Drives or Clutch for a quick buy bid. Maybe try a local car dealer.

You might get a better price if you sell it privately. Do you have Craigslist up there? That will take longer though.
