I had a similar issue with the M240, but my mouth slipped at the BMW store, "Well, the asking price is actually my out the door limit. Last summer I walked away from a beautiful Boxster for just this reason. I'm really fiscally disciplined.... So, at this point, I'm really going to have to think about it and... take it. Here's my credit card."

    And, loving it!

definitely has some neglect (or just it's an old BMW) needs. But I love this car, including the colors. If it was cheap, and not 3,000 miles away, would be a cool toy. this at least is simple enough to not absolutely destroy you financially!

Pretty excited about the new ride. 15 minutes after the auction, I get a phone call. It's from the guy that handles the auctions for that dealer. "Congrats! You'll love it. You got a great buy, etc, etc.."

"Our sales manager is wrapping things up for the day. He'll call you on Monday with the details"

    Three days of waiting.. :/

Seems a little high but those were the days when they didn’t skimp on sheet metal and cars had real bumpers.

I’ll go back to those days even though it seemed like you’d always have something to work on every other weekend.

Are those known problem points for that car?

Just remember nobody ever got rid of a car because it was running too good.

Out of all my dozens of trade-ins, only one was a potential disaster. If I’ve learned anything by now, it is that my cars must have been the very rare exceptions!

I’ve been lucky too but none of my used car purchases have been without problems however trivial. Fortunately, none of the problems were catastrophic.

I was shocked to see it had an original sticker of almost $34k. That was a fortune back then.

nice looking Jeep. I still prefer the classic 2 door though. just look better proportioned, and I like short cars.

The 2 door is a rougher ride on bumpy road with a tendency to “porpoise” on road dips. Style wise I like it better though.

Standard engine only had 140hp. Every time I look at a mid 70s car I cry over those emissions choked boat anchors.🥲 my Mark VIII had exactly twice that hp.

killing time on cars and bids. watching the blue over blue Z3. if it stays this cheap I might be having a finger slip too!

saw this. IMO the best Mercedes. sweet spot of old and new schools and great design. Fantastic colors. Eye popping recent $17k in repairs done, but hopefully that means the next owner won't get hammered too bad. Never been in one, but I assume they are very staid cruisers that feel like driving a bank vault.

That’s a nice Benz but at 90K miles I wouldn’t bet on it being any where close to an affordable car to maintain for the average owner for the rest of its life. But if you want it let your finger slip.

That car will make your gas powered lawnmower problems seem like a walk in the park.

Lovely color on the C124. I didn't catch a mention of wiring harness, which is a job, but it was probably done a while back if the car has been on the road in recent years. Looks like other areas that kind of age out (gaskets and seals) have been done. Price is OK now, but these seldom bring big bucks even if absolutely pristine. Keep in mind that car was around 80K when new, in 1993 dollars - the 124 cabrio was a top of the line car, priced near a contemporary 500 SEL.

Was going to go pick up the Mini today but when I called, they said they were all booked so I’d have to wait till tomorrow. Oddly, they give you just 2 days to get it, so evidently, I should have called the day I won to book pickup. Now I guess they will charge me storage for a day. I would put up a fuss, but its only $5/day.

Is this really the going rate for 2013 Civic Si Sedan?

I know none of you like the exterior color or the interior color. The brake calipers have some serious corrosion on them.

heard a buying story tonight, talking to my BIL and SIL (late 60's couple). Have been talking to them for a few years since they were planning to replace their 2003 Odyssey (up to about 115K miles and getting a little tired, but well maintained. It was time).

had been focused on a Sienna hybrid (they have a Prius they love) to be able to carry bikes inside. But found out they just brought home a Santa Fe hybrid. Dealer had one as some sort of discount, but the Toyota dealer was talking about a 6 month wait and $10k markup on a Sienna. So they went with the much better deal, and decided they really at this point don't need the bigger interior and that the SF was a better sized vehicle for them at this point..
