it has been a while since I sold (or bought) privately. I doubt I ever will again. Well, scratch that, when I finally get my bigger garage, might possibly wade into the cesspool looking for a toy.
I don’t know, I’ve had pretty good experiences buying and selling privately. Would you rather deal with THIS guy at the dealer instead?

Is that price for a lease or a mortgage payment. I guess it doesn’t matter since I’d have to mortgage my house to afford that. Come to think of it, that sticker price is a lot more than I paid for my house.😫

So I have a punch to report, but I feel like I should also share some sad news first among this group of friends.
We very unexpectedly lost our 3 year old Corgi this past Monday. We only recently noticed a mass developing around her abdomen so took her in to have it checked out. Based on her age, we were optimistic and prepared for an expensive surgery, even if it was benign, but shockingly it turned out to be a rare aggressive growth that had silently taken over, and there were no options. It was and continues to be devastating for my wife and I.
On the more light side…I’m not saying it was directly related to our sorrow, but the truth is we didn’t feel much like hanging around the house this weekend so went browsing. And given my mood, I felt free to indulge. I’ve lusted after these 8-series for a little while now, particularly given the extreme depreciation they are taking on the used market. I had been eyeing this one anyway, as I love the option list…the smaller 19” wheels, active cruise (which is not as easy to find as you may think), shadowline package. My wife offered up her Bronco, which we love to have but rarely drive (and we have the Heritage Edition coming this Fall anyway), so we did a trade yesterday.
For the record, 2021 CPO 840i GC xdrive, 19k miles.
I haven't driven an 840, but I've been in the M8 competition coupe on the Speedway, and it's amazing. (hit 141 mph on the straight, in an unmodified vehicle)
So sorry for your too-early loss, breld. Our dog is heading for (a healthy, as far as we know!) 14 , can't even think about an empty house...

I put regular grade fuel in the Maverick the last time I filled up, and did a couple more pulls this afternoon. With premium fuel, it did 0-60 in 5.95 and 6.0 seconds. On regular, it took 7.0 seconds both times. Daily driving did not feel much different, other than the engine needing to rev higher in a given situation, but it definitely felt less peppy on the full throttle pulls. MPG might also be lower on regular, but that's inconclusive due to different driving conditions. I'm definitely running premium from now on!
I’m very sorry about your Corgi. I have shed more tears over the loss of a pet than I have over the passing of some family members.
Congratulations on the 8er- one of the few modern BMWs I would actually want to own.

2 pics to share. The first is perspective on the size of the garage. I was able to pull in head first with the E36 and turn around with the van in there.
The 2nd pic shows where I finally found the AC low valve on the Wagon R. You can’t see it from top or bottom of car. I was feeling around the compressor when I discovered it. The system had a air pocket that I purged and, with some persistence, I was able to get freon in there with one of those spray cans. It is working for now. We’ll see if it holds.

not the best negotiator, but certainly seems honest. If that is what you are looking for car wise, might as well get it and see what happens. But I hate bad rust.

We knew you could do it; turn the car around and fix the A/C. Now tell us when you plan to replace the backup lights on the E36.
BTW, while you’re playing with cars, I’m in Myrtle Beach. Don’t ask, the water is fine.

Years ago we used to come down here in the middle of August. I don’t know how our grandkids could enjoy it that way, knowing they’d be heading off to school just a few days after we returned. I think the best time would be about a week or two after July 4th.

Totally understand why. Doesn’t that dramatically cut back the pool of used vehicles in the northeast, particularly in the sub-$7500 bracket?
