That sounds promising, although I’m concerned about the corrosion.
Up here in rust territory rusted brake lines are usually a sign of other bad news. That he mentions the strut towers is not a good sign. I’d want it up on a lift for a good look.

Hey! Congrats! This one is for the son attending the tech school?
Totally understand why. Doesn’t that dramatically cut back the pool of used vehicles in the northeast, particularly in the sub-$7500 bracket?
I was wondering whether there was anything that looked promising in Texas or Florida, and whether it might be worth a plane ticket.
You might not have to. When looking on Craigslist I would type in key words like “Florida”, “”southern car” or “rust free”. It cut down the choices a lot but at least you weren’t getting as many rusted cars.

That's correct, he actually finished last week. He's taking a few weeks to decide next steps, the school has a pretty good placement program so he has a handful of choices already. He's leaning toward one of the Toyota dealerships, go figure...
Nope, no check engine light. Just a slew of other lights telling us we're on our own to prevent accidents and lane wandering, ha.
Someone scraped the front bumper of my friend’s CRV and a Xmas tree lit up on his dash. The damage was barely noticeable but the dealer told him all the sensors were in the front bumper and sensitive to damage.

That Suzuki does not look too bad for a 1st set of wheels.
Depends on how much he drives. I remember looking at those when they came out and the gas tank is like 10 gallons. With the MPG it got, roughly 200 miles per tank
I could very well see myself getting a 3rd next August. It's that handy to have around and the convenience of throwing dirty, dusty baseball and lacrosse equipment in the bed and using a hose to rinse out the grime is unparalleled.

I might need cash soon for a new house build. Might make sense to unload the Maverick if carmax wants to step up again, and just lease something to tide me over. If we go through with it, having a bigger truck would be handy! Too bad leases stink now.

I love it. So nice to using for the annual beach vacation!
I’ve abused our XC the last six weeks or so. Trips to the beach every weekend have been hard on it. We are on the bay side, so it’s a short drive to the beach but just too far to walk.
It is in the last few months of the lease and I figured may as well use it up. I vacuum it after each weekend, but you all know how tough sand is to get up. I figured why mess the truck up!
Ideally this is why we bought the golf cart, but it’s been in the shop since mid June and it’s doubtful we will have it back before Labor Day. A whole season wasted with it. All eight AGM batteries failed and we are waiting on warranty replacements. There was apparently a bad batch and we got them. Lasted less than a year and 400 miles. Good thing they are covered because it would be $2400.
I’ve seen that. At home I didn’t have a massager but used a palm sander with no paper on it. Same effect. I’ve also folded all the seats down and used the house vacuum with the beater bar. That did well too.
Crevice tool also gets pretty deep if you have the patience for it.

Congrats on the punch and for your son finishing tech school. My middle son is supposed to start high school in a few weeks. He's incredible smart, but hates the school part of school. My city has a state of the art Technical High School that is Air Conditioned, fully renovated, and has small class sizes. I've told him that if I could do things over again, I would learn to work or do something with my hands.

It blows my mind that a 14 year old fairly basic CUV with 130k is almost $10k. I know it is a Toyota..unreal.
A friend just bought a ‘99 Land Cruiser with 200K miles for $19K. 😳 ———————————————— Ask him if he’d like to buy some almost worn out power tools I have.

I considered one of those back in 2009 but went with a PT Cruiser instead because the wife thought it was “cute”. I do notice that there are more of those Suzukis still on the road than PTs.

lol.. when I drove by, they were trying to see if they could set it up with their tent, but, sleep in the back. Looks like with the tailgate, they'll be able to do it. They are big campers.
Someone spent some time reconditioning this one. New tires, no rust, and the engine compartment is spotless.
That said, he says it's going in next week for a timing belt and fluid replacement.
The good news is that by the time you realize you’ve inevitably soiled yourself from the speed and force, you will have left the mess behind in another zip code.

My stepson was the same way - he was a decent student but hated the work he had to do. I think it's a boy thing, and the way they are meant to learn, is fundamentally incompatible with the current education system.
And, I agree that college isn't for everyone - we need to have good technical programs, and apprenticeships, in place like you see in Europe.

Broached the subject of buying truck with the wife. She said we don't need another car so you need to trade in the Explorer. I agreed, hard to justify keeping it based on the number of miles I drive per year. Told her I was looking at trucks in Iowa(Granger has big discounts), around 600 miles away. She said 'A trip like that isn't a problem for us'. Locally, this is my #1 choice. Need a bigger discount, though. https://www.mikebassford.net/inventory/new-2023-ford-f-150-lariat-4x4-supercrew®-1ftfw1ed3pfc22615/
