Who would ever want 700 hp in a pick up? I can’t imagine you could set it up to be as stable in handling as a low slung sports car.

I can see two places where a truck like that would show up…at a race track…or in a ditch.😫

I was at dinner with my son in Chicago when I get some pictures texted to me by my wife of a nice X5 with damage on the rear bumper and tailgate. :o

She was driving her parents around Friday afternoon and came to a fairly sudden stop due to traffic. She stopped fine…the driver behind her stopped fine…you see where this is going. Young teenage driver in a Kia Soul wasn’t paying attention at all (shocker) and slammed into the Nissan Rogue behind my wife hard enough to be pushed into the X5.

Damage isn’t severe, but of course it’s quite a hassle. No one is injured. The young driver didn’t have proof of insurance with her, so she received a summons for that. Finally, she (and her mom) provided the proof of insurance the next day.

For anyone interested, I set up my new Active 2.0 pressure washer this past weekend and it’s a nice machine. The kit I purchased came with a 60’ hose, so once I got it connected I could just leave the small unit in one place and reach all around to wash out the garage and vehicles.

I’m considering a shelf and wall-mounted hose reel to make it a bit more convenient to use on a regular basis (as I do). But overall really happy with the washer.

@breld - glad nobody was injured, but that is always a headache. Must have been a pretty hard hit to damage both the bumper and the tailgate.

Idiots. My wife’s E39 had a bullseye painted on the back bumper. A diverse assortment of imbeciles caused similar mayhem.

Repair then get diminished value claim from insurance then trade for proper X5 with shadowline package. Or maybe something else since you have had two X5s get smacked

See - there is an upside😇

So sorry your wife got rear ended, but glad she wasn’t hurt. German vehicles are solid and it looks like she was able to drive away. Get it fixed, get your diminished value settlement, & move on.

Just this afternoon, on the way to the PCP for our checkup, some old coot bumped into the back of Mrs. j’s Subie while I was stopped at a light. Just a little nudge with no damage at all not even a paint chip. I was pretty surprised at that.

Things like this usually come in 3’s. I hope this is the exception to that old witches saying.

Yeah it hasn’t been truck based in a while but it’s supposed to ride well and be quiet. The SL seems to be a good value but the probably don’t lease worth a darn. I don’t know of any Nissan that does!

Thinking a little ahead here as my son will be turning 15 in a few weeks. My Mom's lease on her 2022 RX 350 AWD matures in March of 2025. My son will be turning 16 right around that time (15 + 1 = 16). She currently has 44K miles on the RX. She's allowed 48,500 for the lease. Let's say she puts another 20K miles on the car over the next year. That will bring the mileage total to around 64K. The buyout on her lease at the end is $30,668.40 (plus TTL). I wonder if it will make a good 1st car for my 16 year old and then when my daughter turns 16 some 3 years later. The Lexus does have all the active safety features including rear automatic emergency braking. Also the Jeep lease is up next March, so my 17 year old (who will be 18) will hopefully need a car to get back and forth to his summer job. He can drive the Lexus as well... Thoughts? Questions? Comments? Suggestions?

That’s a lot of car for teenagers to learn on and beat up in a HS parking lot! Something like my father’s 2020 Sentra seems like it would serve the same purpose for a lot less money.

And if you want something that size and style, why not pass the Highlander down to the kids and use the money to get yourself something?

Also a good idea. I just made payment #24 of 60 on the Highlander. By the time #2 turns 16, it will be 3 years old. #1 could drive it to his summer job. #2 could learn to drive on it and drive it a year later to school/practice. If I stick to the current payment schedule, by the time #2 gets his license at 17, I will owe a hair over $20K on the Highlander.

Due to various business trips for my wife and myself, as well as my Dad's knee replacement surgery we delayed celebrating our oldest who is officially a teenager. He and a several of his friends went to one of those Urban Air places on Friday and Saturday we had a nice dinner out at a steakhouse Downtown that he picked. When I started posting here he was in Kindergarten, now he's in 7th grade. That fact also made me realize that one of the first forums I joined was 24 years ago this month.

If you did a time lapse of posts I made on the other forum they would start off with asking about mods I could do to a 1990 Accord and now they still include conversations on cars and many other topics, but also laments the costs of home improvement, the costs of children, and questions on investing haha.
