I almost bought this yesterday. 2022 Lexus ES with premium package, 22k mi. I was getting ready to go to finance and thought I'd give it a better look over as the sun came out and it was no longer overcast. Good thing I did as I found the right front fender and front right door had been resprayed. I walked.

Did the dealer have a CarFax available to at least assure you that it wasn’t a major accident repair?
Carfax on their website lists “damage” but no details

Very interesting. I noticed the Carfax employee, Car Fox, says “Not all damage is caused by an accident”. So, maybe the damage to this Lexus was done on purpose. :o

Wow, this doesn't surprise me, the vultures circling CarMax bought the Acura. Can't blame them. It still looked and drove great. They probably have access to do the needed maintenance cheaply. They got a sweet car.

I’ve always heard you take them any way you can get them. Now, having said that the Steelers don’t have a quarterback. They have an athlete who lines up at that position. As soon as they start playing real teams it won’t take long for that deficiency to be exposed.

I’d like to be proven wrong but I don’t think I will.

The CarFax on my son’s Fusion listed “damage” also. I detected a repair to the right fender but the repair was well done and the price was right so I still went ahead since it was a 10 year old car at the time. The salesman claimed the car belonged to his grandmother but was very vague on the extent or cause of the damage. I factored that into my offer. It could have been a garage door scrape or maybe she drove it into the Everglades but I didn’t see any swamp grass or alligators so I rolled the dice.

My 15 year old son is very into college football this year. We've been watching all the Colorado games. The Colorado vs Colorado State game was great! It is fun watching Sanders & Hunter.

Dropped off the highlander for service last night. It needs a tire rotation at 55K miles (currently at 56K) and the front brakes shake when I 1st apply them. Got the call a few minutes ago. Pads are ok, but the front rotors are shot and need replacing. Obviously I'm not going to do rotors without pads, so my bank account will be $651 lighter this afternoon.

That is about what my neighbor paid for an oil change, front rotors, and pads on her 2020 Camry (not at a dealer), also with similar mileage, so I guess that's the going rate?

Her dog also destroyed the leather/vinyl on the center console cover/armrest. I offered to help find a replacement, and was going to check eBay for a used part, but found a slip-on cover with elastic straps on Amazon, which fit very well, for a little over $20. Even if it only lasts a year, I think she comes out ahead.

They did. "Damage Reported", not necessarily accident damage. The car drove fine. It was a poor repaint. Dirt in the paint, paint on the black rubber seal, and some orange peel that the rest of the car didn't have.

We’re all safe and sound in the vacation rental. There’s about a foot of water on the basement level, but I’m sure these structures are built for this exact scenario. Watching the crashing waves is mesmerizing, and all in all, it’s a pretty relaxing day. Fingers crossed of course.

We arrived last night, so it’s just the start of the vacation…the storm is supposed to let up later today, so hopefully we get to enjoy the beach and sun some of the time. I’m from a land-locked state…how long does it take for the water to recede after a tropical storm?

I need to burn about eight days of PTO before the end of the year (we can only roll over five and that will have me rolling over four and a fraction). I'm thinking a week in CA to visit the LA auto show, the Getty, Joshua Tree, etc., plus a long weekend in NOLA or somewhere else, would fit the bill.

I'm similar, seven days to use or lose, carrying five over. Thinking of early December, but where to go... like your ideas, though. And my bro is in Santa Monica... Why we went to Aruba a couple of September's ago, generally below the hurricane belt. No crowds, perfect weather, nice people and good food. And iguanas everywhere. So ugly that they're cute.
We did get one afternoon of brief torrential rain, while we were riding bikes up to the California Lighthouse. But the rain was so warm, didn't bother us a bit. The lightning, however, had me questioning our choice...

There's a reason why those rents in the coastal Carolina are are cheap starting around August.

We used to have the “unused vacation payout” option when we were a small business. We were bought out by a corporate concern a few years ago, and it’s no longer allowed, even when people have had extenuating circumstances. So we are almost always understaffed in December, which is our busy time.

So our friends are being told by the insurance company that their vehicles are likely totaled, based on the age of the vehicles and the level to which they were submersed in the flooding.

She has a 2017 RDX w/only 50k miles that looks like it only has 10k miles. And he has a TLX in similar condition.

Feel bad particular for him…it is a red over red TLX A-Spec that he loves and can’t be replaced in that color combo.

Sounds like the plan is the cars will be towed to a local destination to be formally evaluated/adjusted, and we’ll be getting a rental to make our way back to Raleigh (where they live and we’re flying out from).

We may be helping with some shopping considerations this week.

No big surprise, our Highlander stops much smoother with its brand spankin new front Toyota Brake Pads & Rotors. My service advisor said the rears are 60% worn and will probably need to be replaced in the next 5,000 - 10,000 miles. All said and done, front pads, rotors, labor, & tire rotation set me back $728.75.

This may be a dumb question but why didn’t they move the cars elsewhere before the storm hit?

You’re right, that’s a dumb question and you’ll only get dumb answers. o:)
