Last time I saw him was around 10-15 years ago at the Concours show in Cincinnati. He was driving his Carrera GT.
Sirius/XM: We took my car on a 1200 mile trip, last week. My wife about had a stroke trying to get new radio stations along the way. She was big mad we didn't take her car with the XM radio.

I know I have said this before but I don’t see much value in XM at any price any longer. Apple Music or Pandora premium offers so much more for similar pricing.
With CarPlay it’s easy to operate while driving.
Nothing like telling Siri to play any song or album on demand.

Hell, I get fewer commercials on the free Pandora than on XM. I feel no need to pay anything.

I used something called Audible during our latest road trip. I enjoy audio books while driving, so this is pretty seamless. And, I don't have to maintain a subscription in order to listen to content I have "purchased" through the app.

I agree with your assessment of the value of XM. With their scummy business practices they are done for me.
I consider myself lucky that I can stream my own music in the car. I never wanted to get into things like Apple Music or Pandora due to my Luddite tendencies and my dislike of modern music. And of course Siri or Alexa just don’t understand me, so that’s out.
The thing that brought that home to me was when I watched a YT video yesterday about the new IPhone and iOS just minutes after I had another battle with my iPhone trying to get a voicemail it said was there but which was impossible to actually locate. Then I put the phone down for a few minutes and when I picked it up again it was in the middle of adding something to my calendar for reasons that are a total mystery. The video, meanwhile, was going on about all these obscure things you could now do with your icons, your lock screen and some other screen that I forget the name of. All of it made me wonder why you would ever want to do that or why people care, but many apparently think it is a big deal. It all baffles me.
I guess I am weird. I am enjoying Sirius/XM for the sports talk radio mostly. I’m a golf junkie and can listen to PGA tour radio and love it. Occasionally I’ll hit the 80’s on 8 or 90’s on 9 etc. In previous cars, I’ve never bothered with listening to it.
I like my music but its very specific (think Red Clay Strays, Whiskey Meyers, Marcus King) and I usually save my playlists for the boat or relaxing at home.

I don't have an unlimited data plan, so I don't gravitate towards streaming apps. I use the PocketCasts app to download podcasts to my phone over wifi, then listen to those in the car. If there's music I really like, I will just buy the album on iTunes and download it to my phone over wifi.
Still getting the Vanilla error here... saying "vanilla" reminded me of my favorite cookie recipe, since that's an ingredient. Anyway, I'm suspecting the latest update didn't fix things for conversations with 3,200+ pages (like this one). Also, it seems to have killed the auto-save "drafts" feature, which I'm not mad about--it was occasionally handy, but more often annoying.
I have to say I love Sirius XM. We have it on both cars. I have certain artists I’m a big fan of (Tom Petty, Jam On, for instance) and I love the interviews and interesting extra stuff they provide, along with full concerts. I think they have finally modified their awful business practices, and now it’s more straightforward to just get the minimum price without all the games you used to have to go through.

Had the recall done on Thursday but the fuel gauge is not working! Filled up the tank yesterday and still showing "35 miles" left to empty when I prompt it and the gauge shows where it was when I dropped it off. Dropping it off again at 8 today but am not a happy camper. This is something that should've been checked before they were done! Hoping they'll give me a loaner but doubtful of that. Guess I'll need to take the shuttle home if it's going to take a long time, took over 4 hours on Thursday, so I had them bring me home & then pick me up. Just annoying when things like this happen as this should've been one of the last things the tech did before he said it was all done. Luckily, my new SA is very nice and he even installed a new battery in my key fob as it stated on the dash it was time for a replacement.

Way back when during my tenure with the 2011 Regal, for some reason that I cannot recall, I bought a set of replacement carpet mats for the front via eBay even though I had also bought floor liners for it. I think maybe the carpet mats were too cheap to pass up, not sure. Part of that might have been because they were "cocoa" in color to go with the tan interior and brown carpets, which a very small % of production seemed to be so they were uncommon and probably hard to sell. They arrived still in their factory box and wrapped in plastic and I put them away. I ended up not keeping the Regal beyond the end of its lease and forgot about them until several months back when I was tidying the storage part of the basement and found them. I'll probably toss them because I can't imagine there would be much of a market for them to make it worth trying to sell them..
I tried to find a site that has a for sale section that might help. The buickforums.com site does. It seems to me that someone would want those. I can picture a Regal owner out there looking for authentic color original mats in that color, especially since it's rare.
My Malibu has cocoa colored mats since the carpet is a dark cocoa with a touch of mahogony in it with the light tan interior.
The Buick owners club of America or whatever the exact name is hasn't impressed me as very active. They had to drop the SW Ohio event that was GM vehicles only annually at a local Buick/GMC store.
Since you seem willing throw them out, I suspect you might part with them at no charge other than cost of shipping, I wish there were some way to preserve them. Maybe ask a few Regal owners if you see them at a local event.
I recall when I had the rubber mats on my 67 Mustang that were factory, someone I knew knew a Mustang owner, maybe in 75 or so, that was happy to buy those mats with the rubber Mustang heads molded into them.
We have SXM in the X3 and A7, I let it expire in the M240. But, I loaded ~12gb of music on the 240 hard drive, so I'm good with basic FM and the juke box. At $6.xx/month, I'm ok with SXM.

I have bad luck with floor mats it seems. Years ago when I got the Intrigue, it didn't have the carpet mats (it was a year-old ex-Avis car). I went to the dealer and they had a set of Intrigue Final 500 mats in stock for some reason for the same price (or maybe less IIRC) as the regular ones, so I bought those. I used them for a year or so before finding a cheap price on the regular carpet mats online, so I got those and put the Final 500 ones away thinking that someone would want them. I tried to sell them a few times on various Olds-centric sites with no bites. I would guess the only Final 500 Intrigues left already have them. They are still here somewhere.
Someone had asked for driving impressions on the RX 350h. Only 650 miles so far but it rides quite well - very solid. Has Mark Levinson sound system that sounds quite good. Seats are very comfortable with multiple adjustments available (luxury trim). Doors much more solid and heavy than I’d expect on a Japanese make. Drive is different then the Q7 since there is no turbo lag, but is slower than the Q7 once the turbo spools up. On balance, it is a good trade especially since it doesn’t have any electronic gremlins.
Wife loves the pearl white over tan and that it is smaller and easier to drive than the cursed Q7. Dash reading an average mpg as 34.7.

Was the gauge working when you dropped it off? Could they have screwed something up while doing the recall?

The recall involves replacing a fuel pump inside the gas tank.. so, could definitely be related
@graphicguy - I obviously missed that you pulled the trigger on an EV6. Congrats, and excited to hear your impressions.
Yeah....it was not exactly on my radar, for certain.
Test drove a BUNCH of EVs.....for the money, I pulled the trigger on the Kia.
Also test drove her sisters, the Hyundai Ionic 5 and 6.
A few weeks in, and getting used to the "EV" life. Pretty normal. I haven't driven my Accord in 2 weeks, except this a.m. as I ran out of coffee and had to traipse to Mickey's to get a couple of large cups. So, that says something, I suppose. Accord, which used to feel "sprightly" now feels like a slug comparatively. Will have to decide if I want to keep it.
I like the convenience of not going to gas stations, too.
So far, only charged at home. Looking at my electric usage, looks like it's going to run me about $15-$20/mo to charge the EV6. Just for grins, charged at a "fast charger" about a mile from my house. From about 17%-80% it took around 15 minutes. So, Kia isn't "playing" when they quote their charging numbers.
17% charge is the lowest I've taken it. At home, I usually plug it into my level 2 charger around 20%. It charges to 100% overnight. So, I don't know how long that takes. I won't take it down to "ZERO" charge (there's supposed to be a 5% buffer), but my guesstimate is I would get somewhere around 280 miles/charge. Just like an ICE car, weather, driving habits, road conditions, etc will affect it.
Surprisingly well put together. Solid as a rock. Rides very well. Handles surprisingly well. Reminds me a lot of my former Stinger....just faster. Brakes are strong and have good pedal feel. There's not much at a stop light, nor on the road, that I can't pass. Steering is a little "light" compared to my Accord. But. even though the EV6 has two motors (front and rear) for AWD, the rear motor is what mostly moves the car. Press it and both motors crank up and will give you quite the push into the seat. Seemless...can't tell when it's being driven by one or both motors. Seats are very comfortable (better than the Stinger's or the Accord's...similar to my former TLX). Everything works the way it's supposed to.
Meridian Stereo isn't as good as the ELS system in my former Acuras. But, it's better than any Bose system I've heard in ANY OTHER car. Having such a quiet car really lets me listen to my tunes more critically. Granted, it's music from either my USB stick or iTunes, but still sounds quite good.
Fans come on to cool the batteries sometimes....sort of like the electric fan for an ICE car. Getting used to the utter silence of an EV. Trying to decide if I want to dial in one of those funky artificial sounds that's available on the car. Kind of like the quiet thought.
It has a heater for the batteries that will keep them at the real temps to foster quick charging. Will see how well that works in the winter.
Semi autonomous driving (at least Kia's version) is interesting. Went to downtown Cincinnati last night for Octoberfest. Pretty much got me from my northern 'burb to downtown in 25 minutes with little input from me . It took the car to a complete stop when traffic got heavy. Only had to push a button to get the car to move again. Steered surprisingly well, although I stayed in the right hand lane as I still was nervous about letting a car drive with no input from me.
Biggest issue I had with my Kia Stinger was the dealership. While the Kia dealership this go round is in KY, and a little further for me to drive IF I need service, they seem much better than the previous experience.
NOt a "lease" person, per se. But, just stuck my toes into the water on this one. So, 24 mo/10K lease. If I like it, guess I'll be in the EV camp from now on. If not, no harm-no foul!

So far, 2 big thumbs up.
I'm sure you know this, but unless you're road-trippin', it's best to only regularly charge to 80% to extend the usable life of the battery. But, then again for you, lease...

how much of that these days is really about battery life? I thought that was mostly a thing of the past. I know though that the last X% (10? 20?) takes a whole lot longer because the charge rate slows way done. So even if it doesn't impact the battery life, it is a lot less efficient!
Having spent a couple of months now in my first EV, i second all your thoughts. I can’t imagine going back to an ICE car. But I already had the sense of that just from the years I spent with our Chevy Volt PHEV. We rarely put gas in it, so it spent most of the time in completely EV mode. Unlike recent PHEVs like our Kia, when it was in EV mode it never used gas at all. And I absolutely loved driving it. It’s quite the revolution. Thanks for the details, even if we saw them twice!
@stickguy - I think it depends on battery chemistry, and different manufacturers have different recommendations. It looks like Tesla has gone back and forth between 80% and 90% (but they say 100% is fine for vehicles with LFP batteries); Ford says 90%, and my Ariya offers some options to restrict charging hours but does not have an option to stop charging at a certain percentage.
From what I have learned about most lithium ion batteries, keeping them at 100% charge or nearly/fully discharged for prolonged periods of time is bad for their health. The latter is relatively uncommon for EVs, but I have known people with iPods and other small electronics that would leave them fully discharged for weeks on end, and the battery needed replacement in short order. The former is more likely with an EV, especially for someone with access to a Level 2 charger at home and/or work, hence the recommendation to stop charging at some specified level. The other thing that kills lithium ion batteries is heat, and DC fast charging produces a lot of that, even with a liquid cooled battery, however, the Department of Energy did a study on 2012 model Nissan Leafs and found a modest reduction in capacity after 50,000 miles of DC fast charging vs. Level 2 charging. Keep in mind that the Gen1 Leaf did not have a liquid cooled battery, and the fast chargers in that study were only 50kW, so those findings may not be applicable to newer EVs with liquid cooled batteries and the ability to accept more than 50kW of DC current.
I would certainly treat it differently on a lease it seems! My guess, if I had one, is I would go with the 80% cap normally, but would go higher if I was planning a trip and needed the extra range. especially charging at home, won't care if the last of the charge is at a slow pace.
I really hope the magic breakthrough in battery technology happens soon. there is a whole lot of research going on in that race, and billions to be made for whoever figures it out first.
I remember watching some videos with reliable sources that figured out real world degradation in batteries and even in 100K miles, it was not a huge amount.

Interesting. User manual states to charge it to 100% AT LEAST twice/mo!

Yeah, I think the bigger problem is one of the battery pack itself failing. That doesn’t just apply to EVs but also hybrids. I follow the Mazda CX-90 owners forums and even though that is a new vehicle, all of them hybrids of some sort, some of them are experiencing random drive battery failures. Even though they would be covered by the new car warranty, apparently Mazda goes over the vehicle with a fine-toothed comb to try to find anything they can characterize as “damage” which would let them deny the warranty claim, leaving the owner on the hook for a 5-digit repair bill. And apparently given the design, the vehicle won’t operate with a bad drive battery.
@suydam - Leafs have fewer opportunities to fast charge due to the CHAdeMO connector... I still would have leased one, if the price were right, but can't complain at all about the deal on the Ariya.

I did a brief test drive (less than 5 miles) of an Ariya. Dealership (another one Wyler owned) personnel were just really sleazy. So, didn't really get down to what a deal would look like. I really liked the seats, though. It seemed to drive well given my limited seat time. Wished I would have spent more time with it.
Batteries....Bolts, Leafs and any other long(er) term EVs still seem to be chugging along. I get an abundance of caution. But, just like ICE cars, don't abuse them and you'll likely see good longevity.
A few household car news & notes. I had to go suit shopping yesterday for myself and my 15 year old son. Macy's was having a suit sale, so I decided to go there. He was less than thrilled about going to say the least. As we are leaving, I'm walking out towards the Tacoma. He stops in the garage and opens the door to the Prelude. I've been driving it just around the block since it developed the massive oil leak. We hopped in and I explained how and when to shift. I let him do a bunch of shifting while I drove. On the way back home, I took us up this hill. You make a left turn off of the main road, then almost a hairpin right, then it goes left and uphill. As I'm making the hard left in 1st showing him how the car handles, the car won't go past 4K RPM and the ATTS light pops up on the dashboard. I shift into 2nd, then back home into the garage. Thankfully it was only about 1/2 mile from my house.
My wife has been on a mission to clean up and clean out our basement. She decided to sell things at this TINY TOTS CONSIGNMENT sale. Basically you bring stuff in good condition you want to sell, tag it in a very specific way and if it sells, you get 60%. I loaded my Tacoma up to the gills with large boxes of toys, books, & sporting equipment. I folded the seats down the the Wrangler and loaded it up with clothes on hangers. It is better than the stuff sitting in a landfill and we'll get some money from it.

I know I have said this before but I don’t see much value in XM at any price any longer. Apple Music or Pandora premium offers so much more for similar pricing.
With CarPlay it’s easy to operate while driving.
Nothing like telling Siri to play any song or album on demand.

It seems to me that someone would want those. I can picture a Regal owner out there looking
for authentic color original mats in that color, especially since it's rare.

She is happy, so I am happy.
Pearl white over tan will alway be my favorite color combo. Toyota/Lexus does pearl white so well.
