I actually really like this for some reason. And considering the condition of most of these, it just might be one of the best around! But the price seems to be a tad optimistic.
Looks nice but I'm always wary of old high performance cars. Knowing what I'd like to do with such a car makes me see visions of some kid burning out at every stop light and doing "Smokey and the Bandit" driving. Also when there are mods done you have to wonder if the seller is just trying to get rid of his failed experiment .
Still, if you have the ability to judge the condition, a car like that could be a blast.
Here's one I feel more comfortable with that I posted on the Stories board. Most people were too busy talking dishwashers to give an opinion or value.
The Iroc is interesting. I wonder how much they spent. I bet they are loosing even at 15k. I would also like to see a dyno sheet, I don't believe 425hp, especially on that throttle body injection they have.
Oldfarmer....for some strange reason, I'm digging that Riv. I've always liked them....ever since my uncle showed up with a boat tail Riv many years ago when I was a tyke.
Don't have any ideas on the value of this one.....but 25K miles? Driven by a little old lady? What's not to like?
I agree with tjc, though. I'd walk at 8K. $5K seems to be about right.
"...the IROC would feel like it's falling apart..."
I agree with that. When I acquired the 84 Vette the ride was so brutal that I had my mechanic check it to make sure everything was OK. Amazing how they have improved suspensions since the 1980s

It's not over yet. My father in law choked on dinner in the nursing wing of the hospital last night and wound up getting Heimliched on the floor and gurneyed over to the ER. The unsigned title and bill of sale was at his bedside when all this went down and my wife's mom had visions of brain damage. He came around fast though.
It sounds like he's on the upswing this morning so the paperwork should get signed (along with the power of attorney they've been sitting on for a couple of weeks).
The little pickup escapade is turning into an epic. I'm waiting for the check to bounce now, or one of his kids to show up with a letter gifting the truck to him.
It should have been sold two years ago when he (voluntarily) quit driving but it's hard to let go of good rigs. Present company excluded of course.
Boy, that's a good question. My son bought it for $5000 but I think he way overpaid considering milage and condition. I gave him $4000 for it because I had put a grand in repairs into it. Asking prices for that year range from $2500 for absolute junks to $12k for a real nice low milage one but I doubt that I could get back what I have into it. I like the removable top so I'll probably drive it during the nice weather for two more years and then try to sell it when it hits 30 years old. Maybe being a real antique by then will bump the price.
I've considered selling the Eclipse for something a little more hard edge like a Mustang but it's been so darn trouble free that I'd hesitate giving it up for another 20+ year old vehicle. I need something reliable so that when my wife clobbers me for buying all these cars I can drive myself to the hospital without calling AAA for service first.
IDK, I guess I'm like everyone else on this board, running in so many different directions I'm spinning.

I know that were I in a similar position, I would figure out a way to get that title "signed" one way or another if you get my drift. It's not like anyone checks things....wait...I didn't say that?
So, it was a check and not cash?....hang in there!
I'm really not worried about the check (unless the buyer dies before it clears I guess). It was like old home week when he showed up and they all know each other, every sibling, every cousin and uncle. I'm sure it's good because if it bounced the peer pressure would be intolerable and the guy would never hear the end of it.
Sorry to hear about your FIL. Hope everything turns out OK.
Regarding Isell's suggestion I once went to register a car for my son and found he had forgotten to sign the paperwork. The clerk told me to go out to the parking lot and have him "sign" it. Like a dope I said "I can't do that, he's at work". She gave me a look as if to say "are you really THAT stupid? And repeated her statement. I came back with my son's signature a few minutes later
2019 Kia Soul+, 2015 Mustang GT, 2013 Ford F-150, 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible
good point. Every title I have signed no one ever checked or had proof, and I know that the ones I got could have been signed by anyone. I guess as long as the vin check is clean (I assume they do something to check if stolen?) and non one surfaces to complain, no one cares.
I agree. When I took over my dads 1966 Ford 'farm' pickup, I didn't bother trying to get him to sign over the title. I had his last driver's license with a signature, after a few practice signatures, it got signed.
I drove that truck for about 8 years daily to work. Finally decided I should have a truck with an air conditioner. I sold it for $900 and sent $300 each to my sister and brother.
Older cars are a great idea at first....then you buy it, and after your teeth are rattling when you're driving down a paved road you wish you just leased the 'flavor of the month' modern day vehicle of choice.
There is a Rolls dealer in Columbus (Dublin).. I'm guessing they flat-bedded it up there.... No idea why the Troy, MI dealer would be advertising here.... maybe, Gannett put it in the wrong paper...
We picked up the 24' Haulmark enclosed car hauler trailer yesterday and wow, that thing is big. There's no way the F-150 could have comfortable handled it. Not only is it a huge windsail but its heavy even empty. The guy had a weight distribution system on the trailer, but after we looked it over we opted to go without using it. Its off the trailer now since its the wrong one and was installed incorrectly.
The Sierra handled it like a champ and managed 13.5 mpg. This is one time I can say I don't regret trading vehicles! The Sierra has been nothing but a joy to drive and it is a pleasure to tow with. Looking forward to towing our friend's Scout in a few days.
Too bad it isn't a stick... That generation Celica was unreal.... RWD, and fast.....
I bought a new car in '82, but had to settle for a stripper Accord hatch.. couldn't afford the Celica..
Wow, that looks a lot like the Celica my folks owned. Theirs was the baby blue color and was either an '83 or '84 (with the covered flip-up headlights). They bought it used after suffering for several years with a '72 MB 220D.
The Celica was a rocket compared to the Benz, though I don't remember it being particularly fast. Fast enough for me to get a speeding ticket in it, however, on PCH north of Malibu the day before I got married the first time.
Unfortunately, the timing belt (chain?) broke on them while on the highway. I don't think it did major damage to the engine, cuz they kept it for a few more years before trading it in on a '91 Camry.

In 1979, I walked into the Toyota Dealer in Concord, CA and I paid 7400.00 for a brand new Celica Liftback as they called them. It was loaded with alloys and a sunroof and it was a five speed.
Since it was a stick, my wife would never drive it. I put 100,000 miles on it in four years and it NEVER gave me the slightest amount of trouble. Looking back, it was just a great solid little car!
It was hard to sell with 100K on it but it still looked and ran like a new car. finally sold it to a gal for 4200.00.
It was replaced by a 1983 Celica Liftback with an automatic. The 1983 was a nicer car in some respects but it didn't hold a candle to the '79.
It was much tinnier and had nowhere near the quaility of workmanship.
The '79 still had the original brake pads and shoes when I sold it. The 1983 went through it's rear shoes before it had 30,000 miles. The power steering rack failed twice under warranty and it had a vibration in the engine that the dealer couldn't fix.
I got rid of it around the 50,000 mark and looking back, there was nothing remarkable about it at all. Years later, it seemed that every one I saw on the raod had a rusted out tailgate even in Southern California where cars never rust.
In 1984, my mother in law bought a new Camry and it was noting special either. It want through two automatic transmissions before it had 5000 miles on it. They finally managed to get it right. Still, it was a cheap, tinny car compared to the ones they make today.
Older cars are a great idea at first....then you buy it, and after your teeth are rattling when you're driving down a paved road you wish you just leased the 'flavor of the month' modern day vehicle of choice.
That's certainly not the case with my 1975 '02. It has a very comfortable ride and decent power. My son drives it the majority of the time. But my wife and I often drive it when we have the chance.

You can lease a '12 Bentley Continental GT for $3000/mo., with just $13,189 due at signing.. :surprise:
You get a whopping 7500 mi/yr with the lease..
$207K MSRP...
So.. $121k + tax to drive it for three years.. I'm going to guess that you would come out ahead over buying it, then selling after three years...
