I find the best speakers are the ones you like. The high end Boston's are excellent. Check out the JBL GTO 938 or 6 series speakers. I find them very clean and clear sounding with good bass. Great sounding speaker for the price. With your amp that you had installed the jbl's may be a great sound for you. The reviews on these speakers are very good. check out CNET.com

    New Impala

I was in a new one last week. Chevy has done a really good job with this model. Its about time. Good gas mileage, Handles pretty good , Interior was alot better than previous yrs. Driving position was good for big guys over 6'. I was impressed how quite it was inside. My buddy said the 4cyl was weak thats why he got the bigger engine.

Would i buy one.. probably not................ but a good job by chevy.

Will go check them out tomorrow. He did say he was getting in a new product line in this month and said he thought they'd be just perfect for my install and what I am looking to achieve here. He knew the guy who did mine originally and that he did stock good stuff in his store, a bit pricey, but quality stuff. Since I knew this friend of his and he did work there, I know I am getting good bang for my buck! Like I said, he knows what I am looking for and said he can deliver...for a price! All I need now is a few options from cheapest on up so I can decide which way to go as I do not want the worst but don't need top of the line either...I can get mid range quality stuff and be happy. All about the quality to expense ratio here and making $600 as my end point. Not even sure if the stock tweeters will be staying but if they do, more for the 4 speakers price wise. Tomorrow, we'll start the process and go from there.

no way I would go with a NA 4 cyl in something as big as the Impala. Probably false economy overall, especially if you ever want to sell it!

all this new car talk (and the recent dealership visits I have been doing!) has really made me excited for the upcoming Philly auto show. It used to be the 2nd week of January, but for the last few years they have had it the first week of February. I think it goes from 2/1-2/9 this year.

Still a few new cars I want to see. Hopefully they have the 2015 Mustang and Golf there, even though they would probably be up on turntables so you can't get in them.

Thanks. I found it on Craigs. How do we PM each other now? and do you have any interior pics? I might be kinda interested! The E46 is a heck of a platform!

Haven't had a chance to take pics yet, but are you still interested? I actually have an interested buyer making an appointment with her mechanic to look at the 'vert on Friday.

A little surprised as I've had a few interested, considering it's dead winter here in Colorado.

Appointments with the mechanic are usually a good sign.

Mazel-Tov & congrats on your CCBA card punch! You're going to be happy with your Pilot. We bought ours brand new in May of 2011 & have over 45,000 miles on it. Cheers!

Were you able to get a service history? I've changed the trans fluid, the VTM-4 fluid, & the brake fluid change in addition to regular oil changes!

Wheeler dealers is on Velocity (not sure if that part ever got answered). One of my favorite of the "fix and flip" shows, largely because of Mike and Edd. Plus, they do a real good job showing the nitty gritty of the repair work. I have learned some stuff from that show.

of course, they figure out their profit without accounting for labor (I guess Edd works for fish and chips?) but it still makes for good TV.

Yes, stickguy - I agree. It airs every Wednesday evening on the Velocity channel. I get a kick out of Mike who is the Wheeler Dealer. Ed China is the mechanic who does a great job on all repairs and restorations.

Mike is the obsessive compulsive one as well as AD/HD, while Ed is as laid back as a koala bear in a eucalyptus tree. I especially enjoyed their work on a Triumph TR-6 - rebuilt the engine to allow it to run on unleaded gas. I had a new TR-6 back in 1973 - British Leyland built them - leaked oil all the time and would rust if a drop of water landed anywhere on its chassis.

I remember one summer day when I parked it and instead of putting up the convertible top, I snapped the tonneau cover over the seating area - thunderstorm came and when I undid the tonneau cover, there was an inch of water in the foot-wells. When I called the dealer for help he told me to pull back the carpet and pull the rubber plugs. Sure enough it drained the water - but the whole chassis started to rust a few weeks later - they were famous for rusting and leaking oil.

Velocity airs "Chasing Classic Cars" with Wayne Carrini every Tuesday evening - it is a reality type show that follows him as he discovers old classics, buys them, restores them. And then takes them to auctions. He deals in higher end/higher cost cars, great show.

You know something, sb55, you are right. His reactions to just about everything are mundane, dry, as well as monotone, almost as if he was bored with his career and his life. He never seems to get very upset when something doesn't go his way, but on the other hand, he doesn't seem to get very excited about anything either.

Yesterday, while driving home on I-95, Dad and I saw 2 Packard convertible coupes (circa 1930's) driving south toward Boca Raton. I think Boca Raton has the annual d'Elegance weekend coming up this week. I read somewhere that AutoNation is sponsoring the event. These two cars were the most beautiful, awesome looking cars I've seen n quite some time. One was maroon and the other was a dark forest green.

I am sure Wayne Carrini will be there this weekend - I sure would love to attend, but it's tough with my Dad - he can't see and his hearing is all but a lost cause, if you know what I mean. It's tough to leave him alone at home.

Anyway, I'll be looking forward to seeing one of his shows air while he is down here in Boca Raton. These two cars would certainly get some reaction out of him, like, "...real nice cars!"

He'd probably be climbing the walls when the bidding stops at $200,000 on a $450,000 Ferrari or a rare 1938 Bugatti! A Koala type personality is much better than a Tiger personality in that business, that's for sure!

Unfortunately, I am quite familiar with autism, aspergers and AD/HD. My youngest grandson (he's 8) suffers from aspergers and AD/HD. He is a brilliant kid, but doesn't understand social boundaries and interactions with peers.

As an example, if he sees another boy or group of boys playing baseball, he doesn't understand why he can't play too. He doesn't understand the intracasies of asking, being denied, etc. it is truly a shame. He had a high fever a few days after bringing him home from the hospital when he was a few days old. My son had to bring him back to the hospital where he stayed in ICU for several weeks.

It's only in social interactions with peers that he has problems. He does fine one on one with adults, but in group dynamics is where he falls apart. I just wish to God there was some cure on the horizon, but alas, there is not.

These things are certainly difficult. My stepson is 17 and has autism and down syndrome - a relatively rare "dual" diagnosis. He's mobile, but does not speak and is fairly low functioning. Definitely challenging.

My wife has such a positive mental attitude with it and even a healthy sense of humor. Several years ago, well before she and I started dating, her son would scream bloody murder while riding in most vehicles. So she actually had him sit in several to see which one he was okay with. He promptly sat in a PT Cruiser and apparently liked it. Despite all the doctors' diagnosis and the obvious symptoms, she jokes that is when she knew for sure that there was something seriously wrong with him. :)

She actually did purchase that Cruiser and drove it for several years, despite her love of cars. In fact, that was her car when we first met - so obviously it was true love that I still went on to marry her. :D

Of course, we did go on to promptly replace the Cruiser with a Jetta, then a BMW, then a BMW....and so on.

New England Int'l Auto Show is next week. I'll go, as I do every year, and begin planning the next punch. I mean, the XF is already a week old! Got it inspected, registered, wheel locked and winter matted yesterday. And a wash. Of course it was 9 degrees out, so the doors "stuck" a bit. But, worth it to have a temporarily clean car!

Strange and sad to see "my" XK in used car row. I mean, come on. Nobody puts Baby in the corner!

It is difficult. I just wish I could help my son and my grandson, but we live 2500 miles from each other. If I lived close to them, I would be able to empart some of my knowledge and skill from when I was a school teacher and then school principal where I worked with children like my grandson.

They need love, affection, but most of all, they need to have boundaries so they feel more secure in their environment. It is a truly unfortunate occurrence to have an autistic child - but I believe God means to humble us by caring for and loving these children. They are still our flesh and blood - who could love them more than us?

Mike...We have the same reality show tastes. There's another show where there's a Canadian and a Brit. The Brit is constantly yelling and makes me nuts. I can't watch it. Another one focuses on Chrysler muscle. But, one of the main guys is so condescending, I can't watch it anymore, either.

I grew up going to the New York International Auto Show. Started, I'll guess, in the late '60s with my Dad. At the Coloseum, then moved to the Javits. Loved it. Moving to Boston in the early '90s, started going here. Compared to NY, of course, a let down. Boston isn't bad, but it's more like a collection of car dealers, a little less rock and roll then NYC.

NY is in April, I keep telling myself to hop the train and head on down for a couple of days. I do have a nice collection of Toyota/Scion hats and Hyundai swag from Boston!

that canadian/brit one can get annoying. The Cockney guy is a piece of work for sure.

Graveyard carz just started a new season this week. Mark is nuts, but that whole part has to be totally scripted. It is interesting seeing them put them back as new (complete with research on the particular car) as opposed to screwing around with weird customizing.

I actually love Darrin on that show. totally snarky smartass. My kind of guy!

I am a sucker for these shows. about the only unwatchable one is the American Car prospector. that one was hideous.

I am already excited for the philly show. That one is a good show. Pretty big too, and they get a decent selection of concept cars (the ones that get previewed earlier elsewhere). Should have the Golf and Mustang I guess. Not sure what other upcoming new cars have been previewed but not released yet.

Any word out there on what will be debuted at this years NYC show? I think the Chicago show in Feb is large, but often more of a sales focused event with less prototypes and new car intro's than LA, Detroit or NYC.

On the CCBA front sometime in the next week or so, I have to work out a lease on a RAV 4 for my mother. At least she knows exactly what she wants, white over beige "without a lot of junk". I have a call into my old salesperson that I've purchased from before. I wish I could get my hands on money factors and residuals, but it seems (based on reading the lease questions forum here) that info isn't available right now without going to the dealer. The 4x4 XLE at around 26 and change seems pretty close to her current RAV.

It's on the VELOCITY CHANNEL. Some of the posters here get that channel (as do I), but not all cable carriers offer it. The channel is VEL, and on my cable lineup, it's only available in HD (which I get also). See if your cable lineup includes Velocity Channel. It happens to be on right now.(Wheeler Dealers)

Thanks for the encouragement about the pups. They are a challenge yet delightful. I wish I could wake up so happy and full of energy! I do have the service records for the Pilot. Serviced regularly by the same Honda dealer that I frequent. Transmission fluid replace, power steering, brake fluid flush complete. One local owner. Honda dealer replaced front and rear brake pads, battery, cabin and air filter, alignment, oil change. Drives very well. No odd rattles, squeaks, or roughness. It is about 4 years old, so it does have some normal wear, scratches, but not bad. My wife actually commented she liked the fact it wasn't perfect. That way if it got scratched, it wasn't the first and I wouldn't fuss. She is very in tune with her vehicles and immediately commented that as much as she liked the 06 Pilot that we had, she likes the driving dynamics of this one better. Whew.

Driving wife's RDX tonight when the 'check transmission' warning came up. First issue I've had with this car in 3 years, everything seems to drive fine. Guessing its a sensor but I'll take it in just to be safe.

@oldfarmer50, it's an organizing gizmo on a Facebook page, a way to set up a page so people know where to go to get different pieces of information. On our page, there's tabs for Photos, Car Poll, Videos, etc.,

@nyccarguy, nice patina on the leather.
