Looks super clean. But, a slushbox? I guess that would be OK for me, since I need one of those to share with my daughter... Too bad (or good thing?) this is too far away for me!

as to you RB, if you want a 635, if a sweet one shows up, why not? You could always flip the 2002 to make room for it, right? Or just go all Andre and keep expanding the fleet.

Both are gorgeous vehicles but I prefer the drop top for obvious reasons.
Did the drug test today and just sent off the online app even though they spelled Sanford wrong, added the extra "d" in the middle but will correct it once hired for real. Now all I need to do is wait for the phone call telling me what time to report to work!!! Don't think the drug test will be a problem because my meds are coming from a pain doctor and I only use one of them daily really as I've stopped the sleeping aid and the one for the break through pain I use every so often on those really bad days. Honestly, I think I will be able to start next week but I have to get the call so it is official. Just need that magic call!!! I can't wait though!

Hertz may become a reality...had the drug test done this morning and sent in my online app this afternoon. Someone had told them I wasn't interested, which was false, so a friend interceded on Monday and got the call yesterday. Will find out definitely next week. That dental driver job never called today so he found someone else which is cool as I want Hertz, badly. So now am waiting for the go ahead here. It'll be 25 to 30 hours so I figure 3 days/week or maybe Saturday 1/2 day...they close at 12 on that day but those hours are perfect so I can keep my West Palm gig also a few days a week. The best of all worlds for me...a schedule like I want and the flexibility the other days for work and appointments. Totally works for me!
I sure hope it comes to fruition but should not be any issues really!

In April, 2010, paid $21K for my 2006 ZHP coupe with 40K on the clock. Now, I have 80K on it... If I could get $15K after 44 months and now with 80K miles, that is pretty low depreciation... (just $1600 per year)

On second thought, forget it. This guy is obviously some kind of BMW curb stoner;(

Could even be a dealer. Since CL started charging $5 for ads in the dealer's section, the small dealers have been flooding the 'by owner' section. Why they thing that lying about who they are first thing out of the gate is a good idea I don't understand. Probably because everything they say after that will be a lie too.

Well, almost had the 330ci sold.

A woman and her husband looked at it yesterday and had even made an appointment with their mechanic. She's owned three of these E46 'verts, and lost the last one in the floods in Colorado this past summer (even showed me a video they took on her phone - very sad to see running water along their street and their E46 tipped over sideways in the flow - apparently it only had 47k miles). Her husband shared that they've been looking for a replacement since September.

One of the first things she notices is that my car does not have heated seats - she is bummed out. But, she goes for a drive, likes it, and asks if she can take it to her mechanic. Everything checks out there, and we agree on a price. She says they will come pick it up the next day (today).

This morning, she texts and says they can't get a cashier's check on Saturday from her bank and so we may need to wait until Monday. I text back and say we can certainly finish up on Monday, or if she wants it today, I'd take a personal check and mail her the title when it clears.

Her next response to that was that she has decided to continue searching for one with heated seats.

Obviously she really wants the heated seats - just would have thought she would have come to that conclusion before paying her mechanic to check it out, agree on price, etc.

You need a family that wants to buy it for their son/daughter that could care less about heated seats. Hey, how is the Passat ?

The 1st BMW drop top I drove was the same color as both of the ones I just saw guys, that gray over gray color but with 88k, it drove terrible. The black over brown one drove very nicely and only had under 38k on the clock but I just couldn't pull the trigger...just couldn't do it! Still glad I didn't buy it and super glad I got the Tuscon.
Did 4 runs for Hertz today, Miami to West Palm, and it took 12 hours 15 minutes, a long day. Saw the old boss and crew so some awkward moments especially when the old boss got into my face but I just let him rant and then asked him to leave me alone for good. Did shake hands with a few and others ignored me but I wished them all well...I will be seeing these folks every now and then since we work for competitors and will have to be at the same places sometimes. Want to make it as pleasant as possible so want to be positive with them and get rid of the negativity...I left that company for a reason so let's leave it at that.
Drug test went well so we will find out sometime next week if they will definitely hire me at Hertz. Sure hope so!!!

The Passat is great. Unlike other recent purchases, I was really targeting comfort, roominess and efficiency on this one, and the passat has really met expectations.

The backseat is without a doubt roomy (I think it offers the most backseat room in its class), but I find the overall space in the front seat to be very airy too. Being 6' 3", it's refreshing not to have to adjust my drivers seat to accommodate rear seat passengers.

I averaged 28 mpg on my first tank. The trip computer readout seems to level out at 30 mpg on my 80 mph, 30 mile routine trip on our toll road, and it got up to 40 mpg on a recent trip (mostly highway obviously). Pretty happy with that for such a large, non-hybrid (or diesel), car. With the 18 gallon tank, it's easily getting into the mid-high 400's on range, and I suspect it could reach into the 500's.

The 1.8t provides some grins - quick enough for passing duties, and engaging in its power delivery. The 6 speed works well - even a bit more so in sport mode.

And I'm liking the look of the passat too. Simple, but classy. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on the upgraded 18" wheels on the higher trim levels, but the 17" ones on the Wolfsburg aren't bad.

So, one whole week and I'm very satisfied! A little bummed I don't have it this weekend - I drove up the convertible from my work garage since I thought it was to be sold.

Not for me, but I basically bought it... Mom's lease was up this Wednesday, so had to make a move. My Stepdad passed away in March and my Mom hasn't bought a car for herself since 1984.

She had a 2011 RAV4 and wanted another one. New body style, so at least it will be different. I made an appointment at 11:30 with the salesperson we have bought numerous cars from. We arrive and she immediately has a lot guy pull up a new RAV (base 4x4). We head out, I thought the ride was a bit stiff and the interior wasn't bad except the cost cutting was very evident on the carpet. It was the thinnest I've ever seen. Mom liked it, and said she would be happy with it.

We get back to the dealer and Mom sees a Venza and starts looking at that. She explained she has seen them on the road and likes them. Well, l grab our salesperson and we take one out. I could tell immediately that she loved it and it rode much nicer and was nicer inside.

At that point I did explain that it was almost 3k more than the RAV and may not fit into her price range, but I had thoughts it would lease better than the RAV due to slower sales. We worked up numbers on both, and the Venza came out literally a couple bucks higher than the RAV.

The desk came down with a strong offer right off the bat (published invoice) but "forgot" the $400 rebate. I naturally asked for it, and that dropped the payment a few bucks. At this point we were about $720 ($20 / month) from hitting the $300 payment mom wanted. I crossed out the payment and wrote $300 on the line and told the salesperson to make it happen. They came back with 307 and the deal was done. I felt good, a 29K (and change ) car all in with taxes and fees for 307 /$1000 out of pocket 36/12k. Low money factor of .00001 certainly helps!

Glad you are happy with the Passat so far. I agree with you that it is definitely a handsome car. Also a lot of car for $250 per month.

I know you are disappointed that the 330CiC didn't sell, but it will. Give it time.

    @tjc78

Good job helping Mom out with the Venza lease. Cheap money (APR or money factor) always sweetens the deal. 2 years ago, my Dad traded in his 2010 Tahoe for a leftover 2011 Tahoe because they offered 0% for 72 months. Free money is always good. As the old saying goes, "nothing's for free" because if you just make regular payments for 72 months, you are going to be underwater for a long time.

I wouldn't mention the lack of heated seats. That has a negative tone I think, a "lack" if you will. If anything, list some of the more attractive options.

Heated seats are appealing only to older drivers--a young buck or lass doesn't care about stuff like that.

I agree, kyfdx. I have heated seats in my CLS 550 and believe it or not, I used them last week when the temperature hit 45 degrees. I put the temperature at high, then within a few minutes, I turned the heated seats off once the car's interior temperature was stabilized. Next Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, lows are expected in the low to mid 40's each morning. You northerners have to realize that when them temperature dips down to that level, we Floridians freeze our rears off - thank goodness for heated seats is what I say!

Yes... I was gong to add.. especially important for convertibles in cooler climates (or not so cool, in your case).

Every time I see a used BMW that hangs around the local dealer for too long.. it lacks heated seats.

Huh? I'm 31, and I expect the front seats to be heated if they are leather or faux leather. The feature is nice to have (but not as necessary) even if they're cloth.

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,415

I'm in my 30s, living in an area that is only cold once in awhile, and I love heated seats, especially when it is below freezing out, on a cold rainy day, or when I've overdone it and given myself a sore back. I pretty much expect them in a premium car these days.

The first BMW convertible I tested in Margate was the same color combo, really very nice colors. Drove a Passat yesterday and really liked it...a lot! I could own one very easily even though I prefer the Jetta size vehicles...the Tiguan was the right size but the price was wrong. Glad I stayed at my price point even though I could've gone up to $25k, wanted to stay below $20k. I got the perfect vehicle for me.
At breakfast this morning, I didn't feel well so asked my kid to drive us back to her place, stay here for work during the week. Came out and there were 2 Tuscon's, both new SE's in the same silver color. I knew mine because I have the pin stripe but it was weird to have two of the exact same vehicles parked right next door. Hope to hear back from my audio guy this week about the door protectors I want to add. His shop also does auto accessories so he is also going to add a red pin stripe to the black one I got. Those door protectors are my first priority right now so will see. Not sure I want to spend $1200 on the speakers right now.

Heated seats? As long as there is an option box to check, it is a "must have" for me. Once the temps in the fall start to dip below 50, I put mine on in the AM.

My car's heated steering wheel is AWESOME! I have a condition known as "reynodes disease" where the blood vessels in my fingers constrict in the cold, dry, weather. By using the heated steering wheel, it allows me to put off taking medication (Amlodipine) until absolutely necessary.

Oh, you guys...I start to squirm around as soon as I feel the heat and, yeah it can get cold here sometimes. See the photo I took of our house last month? :o

Even though the E-GT has cloth, the seats are heated (two stage!). Nice to stay warm when I'm in and out of the car so much when delivering.

    "25-30 hours per week"

Sandy, what do those companies pay per hour, if I may be so bold as to ask. A few years ago (2009 or 10) I inquired about school bus driver jobs in Pinellas county. They were paying $12/hour. Probably $13-14 by now. Not bad for a retirement job but I'd much rather transport cars.

There is a new nibble on selling the farm and Florida may be in my future.

I'm sure you realize there are some of here in the North that are not feeling very sympathetic about your "cool" weather. :grin

You have to understand something, imidazole, our average daily high temperature in the winter down here is 78-82 degrees Fahrenheit. Sure, it drops into the 60's at night, but we can handle that, to a point. But when it drops into the 40's, we start to shiver and begin to add layers of clothing much the same as you do when it hits single digits in the north.

The three-stage heated seats in the car are a true savior when it's in the 40's - I can even turn on the ventilated seat fan to increase the effect of the heat coming up through the seats. But you guys up north have to sympathize with us - we just don't handle temperatures below 60 degrees very well. When it's in the 60's during the day, I still wear short, but I wear a sweatshirt or light jacket to protect my aged body from the cold air.

Sure, you can chuckle all you want, but temperatures in the 40's is a living hell for us down here in the tropics.

I know you are only kidding, but if you were down here, you'd be wearing a jacket, sweater or sweatshirt too.

    "Obviously wanted the heated seats"

You should have offered to throw in a hot water bottle as part of the deal. I remember when I bought my Mitsubishi in January how nice the heated seats on the test drive car felt but they were part of an expensive package so no go. Don't really miss them even on the old Lincoln I use for winter. I thought leather would be brutal but not at all. Last week it was -6.

Maybe your buyer just wanted the extra snob appeal.
