OK need advice. I think I've mentioned this, but the wheels on the Viggen are not in great shape - finish is peeling, heavy curb rash on all 4, and at least one rim is bent. Viggen OEM wheels have been described as "warm butter" in terms of their propensity for bending, so I am not inclined to spend the $125-$150 a wheel it would require to get them refinished. Replica wheels are not readily available and OEMs cost a fortune.

A set of refinished Saab BBS RK2 wheels has come up for sale locally. These are two piece BBS wheels that were an available option on some early 2000s 9-5 aero models. They look great and the PO had them powder coated in a dark gray/almost black color which would really complement the color of the car.

They aren't cheap though - he is asking $800 for them (down from $850) after I offered $675. A set of refurbished Saab wheels (couple different styles) are going to cost me anywhere from $500-$600 shipped, but won't look as nice. It feels like a lot for wheels that I will not see my money back out of...am I wrong?

Ha, thanks guys. Disappointing season for sure and sad to see it end so soon but they were simply outplayed and outcoached. However as dissappointed as I am I cannot fathom what Tampa fans are going through. They were practically awarded the Cup in February but here they are out of the tournament.

Colorado is up 2-1 on Calgary. If they can take the Flames, both #1 seeds would be out.

Presidents' Cup can be a jinx, I think it was this year. Most of these eastern teams I'd be fine with if both lost, but I guess I don't mind the Isles for Barzal, who is somewhat local coming out of suburban Vancouver, and played major junior for Seattle.

If you plan to keep the Saab for the long term 28ff, buy the wheels. Small price for happiness, hobby cars seldom run in the black.

I think Colorado can pull it off too. President's Trophy sure is a jinx....I think the last team to win that and the Stanley Cup was one of the Detroit teams of the 2000s. The Penguins won it in 1993 with arguably one of the most talented Penguins teams ever and were ousted by none other than the Islanders. What will be interesting is whether Tampa decides to make large changes or stand pat. It's clearly an extremely talented team so I would probably resist tearing apart the roster. For years Washington was a perennial Presidents Trophy winner or contender and flamed out in the playoffs. They were patient and avoided large scale teardowns of the roster and were finally rewarded with a championship.

Back to cars, I'm also going to say go for the wheels @28firefighter. The condition of the current ones are going to bother you each time you look at them and if you have no plans to jettison the car anytime soon I would get something that you like and improves the appearance of the car.

If current timetable holds, I will have the car about another year or so. Once I take ownership of my Dad's 968, I'll need to flip the Viggen if I intend to remain married.

tougher call then. If you can live with the bent one, I would just ride it out. Unless you want to try and sell the BBS ones when it is time? Or can unload the OEMs for enough to make it worthwhle.

Offer 750 for the wheels, show up with cash, if no dice, walk away. There's a very small demographic of people looking for those, he needs to take it.

That was exactly my thinking when I offered 675. Yes they're great wheels and unusual to find them already refinished, but how many people are lining up to drop that kind of coin on a Saab wheel?

In this expansionist salary cap world, we'll never see those old teams and dynasties again. I love the new young skill in the league these days, but I also miss 90s hockey, maybe because the plodding crosschecking stay at home D man I envisioned myself as doesn't exist anymore in the show. I think Panarin is a motivation for CBJ too, his days there are numbered and he will be missed.

Flames/Avs is another tough one, I like some players on each team, but don't have any endearment to either team as a whole, and I have residual Avs hate leftover from 20+ years ago.

Ah, the Patrick Roy / Joe Sakic / Peter Forsburg era. Where they were fighting with the Red Wings every time they played.

They were the first team to bring a league championship to Denver. I thought the citizens were going to burn the town down.

New Outback was announced at the NY Auto Show today. Includes an Outback XT with the same 2.4 Boxer Turbo that is in the Ascent (and the new Legacy). Looks really compelling if you don't need a third row.

One item that I missed - while overall cargo space is increasing by 3 cu feet (with the second row folded), hatch space is reducing to 32.5 cu feet from 35.5 with the second row up. Weird reallocation of space.

that will be getting a long look when we are replacing the TSX> I still regret not trying harder to get one of those back in December. I am fine with the turbo instead of the 6.

will have to go out later and look for some pictures.

Stick, if you're that unhappy with the TLX, have you thought about checking your payoff and getting a Vroom or Carvana offer? Is it the 4 cylinder engine that doesn't do it for you, or is there something else about it that just doesn't excite you?

it's fine. Just was the wrong thing to get. It's not going anywhere since it would cost a fortune to try and do anything with it anyway.

the wife took it today because her car was low on gas and I did nto feel like going out last night to get some.

it's a nice car. I just should have stuck with what I was planning to do, and get a new family truckster for the wife to use, and just take the RDX for my car. Getting a fancy sedan was only covering 1/2 the need.

$400/mo. It's a 4 banger. If I tried my wife would probably kill me. Though if I truly didn't lose anything on the deal, what's the difference?

though without being able to do a lease swap, seems like not many options short of trading it in. and that is not going to lead to not losing money!

It's fine. We will enjoy it and make do for the duration. the wife takes it to work on occasion. It's a nice driving car and should do good on our trip.

I actually was considering buying it out at the end, but that would only make sense if we did not want the RDX any more. Probably won't, because what's the fun in that?

I remember the “nine-teen for-ty” chants quite well. They got their 4 in a row.  I hope they don’t win again until 2038 (so their fans suffer for 55 years between cups).

I may have related this story before, but as a California kid, I wasn't too much into hockey until the Kings started to make noise in the early 90's. Was on a business trip to LI and decided to take in an Islanders game. Had great seats and the folks I was sitting with were kind enough to help explain the finer points of the game.

Towards the end of the game, a chant went up with the crowd; the derision towards the Rangers was explained to me, and what the chant represented.

    I still remember that game.
