Oh side note I got an insurance quote on one of the motorcycles I am looking at.
112 dollars a year... :surprise: I didn't think it would be that low.

Some people spend $100K building these things and are lucky to get back $35K
I don't even want to know what a "hydrological" roof might be. :P
Maybe the roof has something to do with flood damage.

Well, he listed it yesterday and yesterday was Earth Day. It must be a green thing.
"WHEN YOU ACCELERATE ITS RUNS A BIT SLOW" - yeah, look what it is
82 Benz Diesel -- running a bit sluggish? Nothing a $7,500 engine rebuild wouldn't cure.

I dunno..VERY gently I guess. I had slightly oversized 235/70/R15's on my '89 Gran Fury, which is the same design as that Volare. I think the stock size for the copcars was 215/70/R15, with 225/70/R15 being the biggest you were supposed to go. If I hit a bump while going through a sharp enough turn, the front tires would scrape the silver trim around the wheel opening.
Those same wheels/tires are on my '79 5th Ave now, but I haven't had any clearance issues, thankfully.
this is Andre's new old truck
"Interior 90% complete." Exterior, not so much.
"Cars are very similar to the google image below." I kinda doubt it.
this is about how most of these look around here
dreamers and their dreams
Something else I just noticed...when they called something a "long bed" back then, it was still just an 8 foot bed, right? Something about the bed of that truck looks longer to me. But that could just be that in those days the cabs and hoods were shorter and more upright, so the bed made up a larger percentage of overall length. Plus, the sides of the bed probably aren't as tall as on a modern truck, so that's going to make it look longer.
Nice windshield rake...those few years before real streamlining...good name and IIRC these had a nice deco hood ornament too

Weird way to shop
Another weird ad Craig's really needs to implement a spell check feature
As far as $3000 Vettes go, this doesn't look horrible
This car is balls to the wall
RE: Mid-Engine Corvair --- er, I sure hope someone welded some railroad track to that frame. Let me guess the car's name --- Death Wish II? I suspect this car would spin like a top if you hit a turn too fast.

24 year old toyota pickup with almost 0 rust, maybe because half the truck is missing.
My overall impression was, after a short drive --"I am in a death trap. Somebody get me out of here". Other than that........
It only had about 50,000 miles on it, and was in really nice shape. It looked like a piece of the trim molding on the rear quarter panel had come loose and was glued back on, but that was the only flaw that jumped out at me. Oh, it also just had wire hubcaps instead of alloys, and no sunroof.
My 2000 Intrepid died on me on Friday nite, about two miles from home. It might just be something relatively minor like the fuel pump/filter, or some sensor. But if it's something more major, I'm actually considering this big Buick. Fuel economy won't be so hot. It was EPA-rated at 16/25, which is okay for something that size/power, and considering I don't drive that far these days, the fuel economy wouldn't break me. For comparison, my Intrepid was rated at 20/29. I wish I had thought to take a picture of it, but forgot. :confuse:
Wow, that's really all they're worth?! And I thought the $4800 was actually fairly reasonable. I was thinking about trying to get him down to around $4K. I guess I must've gotten distorted by Carlisle-itis or something, so thanks for grounding me with a bit of reality.
At least it seemed like a better deal than the beat-up brown '78 Bonneville coupe with the 301 and power-nothing that the seller wanted $2500 for. :P
Considering how little I drive these days, it's really not imperative that I replace my Intrepid with anything. I just dropped off my "new" '79 New Yorker at the mechanic today, to have him check out its intermittent refusal-to-start problem. So once that thing gets more or less reliable again, I could just switch up my driving between that one and my '79 5th Ave, and maybe drive my '76 LeMans or '67 Catalina convertible on nice days when I don't have to go into a bad neighborhood or anything. :shades: But, I hate to say, I'm starting to get a new-car bug!
