I don't mind that at all. Blue, too. My mom's 93 Taurus was white on blue, and I liked the combo.

Here's a "busy" 96 cloth pattern, at least they were trying something different. There were some mildly daring designs then, before today's trend of being edgy simply via a big maw and leering eyes:

That was a bad choice of upholstery fabric. I understand dealers got considerable pushback from many customers when they saw it. Of course it gave them an incentive to push customers up the food chain to a more expensive trim level, but many just went elsewhere.

Fun mix there.

W126 looks fair for the money, but as always, needs a PPI. These can rust, and the engines can develop head gasket issues if not maintained.

Too bad the Mark III isn't nicer, that's a real hen's tooth, and that material is just starting to be embraced - you'd be a hit at an import show in a mint one.

I am leery of the Spur, price seems even lower than normal, maybe because of its history.

TC looks amazing inside, too bad you'll need to undo some mess.

I've never seen a Fauxrarri mocking a 512 like that.

I like the Corona Mk II if it's really all there after being rebuilt. And the disclosure of "Moderate rust underneath" could be a deal breaker upon inspection. Still the 4M SOHC 6 was a nice option which became standard equipment in '74. Can't be many of these left in the rust belt.

Yeah, I sorta like the TownCar, but the seller would have to agree to at least $3,000 less, plus they keep those hideous wheels. I would take it with no wheels at all before having those on there!

It's funny how mods can devalue a car like that TC. I can't imagine many would want it as-is.

The 4Runner / Hilux is pretty cool. I can't imagine that it is worth anywhere near the asking price. I had a friend with that year 4Runner - very fun car for the day. Good memories.

4Runner is "ahead of the market" as some put it. But I think it will eventually get there. Right now it is aiming for a monied hipster/techie who wants a toy.

That car has been driven more than 98% of them, the interior definitely has some "patina" (most of which can probably be corrected), and the image style itself might lend to it.

About half the comments on that Maverick are about how it lacks a title and how you can “creatively“ use the bill of sale to register it in Vermont even though it is located in Washington state. The seller stated he wasn’t concerned because nobody would be silly enough to want to drive it.

Lol! I didn't read the comments but I can understand how an $18K Maverick with no title would start an interesting conversation. I was wondering why a preserved 66 mile 1974 Maverick has 1973 hubcaps?

There were a number of things about that car that were odd. The silver-painted wheels, the wheel opening moldings and bright window frames, neither of which were listed on the window sticker...

The underbody shots alone are worthy of preservation. I suspect most new Mavericks never looked that clean underneath on delivery day. They also show how easily they would be prone to rusting given all of the pockets and open seams that would collect gunk in the salt belt.

I was thinking the same. Did it have PS,PB? That would be odd if not as it has factory a/c. Tinted glass came with the a/c option IIRC. It would look better with full wheel covers and whitewalls, but that color, yuck. I see the tinted glass was a separate option.

I bet one could find a nice Maverick Grabber for less than that preservation piece sedan.

Would PB have been standard on something like that? No PS might be another reason why the original owner didn't want tp drive it. I don't know where to look for the brake booster, and the AC unit hides visibility.

Neither PS or PB on it. Our ‘74 had PS, the typical ‘70s Ford numb type, but non-power brakes. The brakes were bad enough that I don’t think a servo would have made much difference.

The comments on that auction were strange too. There were more than the usual number of comments from people who had experienced Maverick ownership and a lot of them were not positive. But there were a few people who not only thought they were the best car ever but also were quite disparaging towards those former owners, and more than a few netcop types who also piled on. One even said something to the effect that they were making the seller feel bad which was a hoot. Getting $18K for that must have been ecstasy.

The 280Z guy is worried about making the car look like a 240Z, instead of having a running car. Weird. Other than the bumpers, ‘77-‘78 were the best years.

I don’t think ‘85 Supras came in a turbo version. (could be wrong)

Nope, no turbo wedge Supra, turbo didn't come along until the 1986.5+/3rd gen style for the US market, but I believe there was a JDM wedge Supra turbo.

I like the Volvo.

The ‘50 Olds 88 is lovely, might be a tough sell at that price with what appears to be a non-original interior.

Finally had a dry weekend day for the first time in at least a month:



Had the car out before daylight and drove in the low light a bit. Car started right up as usual, ran fine, but I think I set the idle speed just a little slow, idles too slow when not in gear (but in gear it idles fine). No turn signals still, I checked the fuses this time just for laughs - they all look fine and all other lights work, so I am sure it isn't that.

I got to honk 3 times - once at an Explorer dawdling on green, once at a Chevy truck that pulled out right in front of me no matter that there was nobody behind me in the entire line of sight, and once to wake up the distracted driver of a BMW E60 who was slowly meandering into oncoming traffic. People hear when I honk. Got several looks and had a guy at the ice rink talk to me about the car, this guy was an engineer who was fascinated by the car having FI.

E36 parked beside me is becoming somewhat uncommon, too.

I replaced 2 Cup 2 tires on the TTS for peace of mind. Have an extra tire now that could replace 1 if for some reason another wears out more quickly than the other 3 again.

that junkyard, wow. not sure anything there is savable (at least not without being way underwater) and a bunch don't even look like you could get parts off them. Mostly off to the scrapper, and sad, because there are a few models that I even like!

The 1970 and '71 Devilles are interesting. The '70 is more expensive but might be the better car. Should have a high-compression 500 V-8.

The Mark V says it has a black interior but from what you can see it clearly does not. But without a few pics of the inside it is impossible to tell whether it is worthwhile.

I would actually like the Mark with black interior. It's funny I pretty much loathe Silver over Black in modern cars but really like it on the older barges.

Silver /Blue is also sharp.
