    I love the Continental.

A few years ago, saw one of those on the freeway, and had to catch up to it, to figure out what it was. Stunning.

Those Continentals are really beautiful cars. IIRC they were basically handmade.

I cannot imagine the woes of owning one, but the two Citroens fascinate me, especially the wagon.

Many years ago when I first got into the old-car scene I joined the local antique car club and faithfully attended their weekly meet-ups. One evening a member showed up with a '56 Continental. He was in the demolition business and the story was that his company had been hired to knock down an old estate in the ritzy part of town. There had been a basement garage where the door had been walled over. When they opened it up, the Continental was inside, in good original condition. He purchased it from the estate, recommissioned it, and that night was its public debut. A creamy white with red and white leather inside, it was simply gorgeous. One of the things that impressed me was that when you opened the doors, the jambs were fitted with chromed pieces on both the door and the body that covered the paint. I also remember how the exhaust manifolds dumped horizontally into pipes that went into the front wheel wells.

I was on I-40 traveling through the Smoky Mountains on my way to NC, in my Porsche 911. Tooling along about 85 mph. A lot of S-curves there, and tunnels through the mountains. A Dustbuster van passed me, doing at least 95 mph, in full lean, all the way over on the suspension stops.

Scariest thing I've ever seen. :o

Darn, I hate it when life causes me to go a couple of days without checking in. Fin, with the exception of the wheels the MB with bad wiper blades that you posted a couple back is exactly our late lamented lady. Same model, year, color, and interior. Gave me a catch in my throat.

Maybe you need a replacement :) Nice 126s are still relatively affordable, only the best of the best bring crazy money. Wonderful cars if maintained, timeless design and a modern classic. Wheels on the CL car are from a 1986+ model.

Facebook is where the cars are now on Long Island

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/203232887478019/ Cutlass - the front looks clean but you can't even tell what roofline it is.

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/775716589504217/ Skylark Suncoupe - kind of unique and looks OK from 10 feet away

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/442425776682354/ Plain Jane Gran Prix but looks pretty decent for 2 grand

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/529579337859581/ Driver convertible. Looks decent for the money. The hide away headlights in a nice pluc

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/574172869829708/ Pretty dashing classic BMW for 2 grand. A couple pics looks like it could have dents, but it might just be the shine

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/496694631050862/ Being that Fieros are getting a little love now, and this is the year to have, this could be alright

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/165112678104465/ I had the matchbox car. That's all I know about these Bricklins

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/357251315199035/ These Toronado's were nice when new, but this price is hopelessly optimistic, I'd say about 3x too much

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2716252395158820/ Looks like a nice Grandpa Buick but pet peeve, 20 exterior pics, all taken from 10 feet, no engine or interior pics and this is a professional seller

The '71 Cutlass is an S model so it is a fastback 2-door coupe. Looks like a project car at best.

Same for the Buick Sun Coupe although it seems to have a decent interior, but the bodywork sounds daunting.

The '68 Ford convertible might not be a bad buy if it is solid. Would need many things though.

Fieros scare the living daylights out of me mechanically but that one is the one to get as you say. Looks like it has the V6.

Not enough info on the Bricklin. I know very little about them even though they were assembled not far from here.

    Toro price is insane.

That BMW is cheap enough to overlook the duct-taped inlet, etc. Any way to know for sure it's a 325i, and not a 325e? I guess a VIN search would do it. Odd the ad lists it as a '4D'.

    It is a 325e

The 325i is badged as such. The 325 with no letter means it is a 325e (I think that is an '87 only thing).

Looks like some pretty serious rust, just ahead of the door on the passenger side.

Did I mention that it's an automatic? ;)

I think facebook marketplace is even worse than CL in its pre-fee days, as it is free, and attracts the kind of mentality who is addicted to facebook. It'll show this is not the literate society we've imagined for so long. I bet responses to legit fb car ads are faith in humanity-killers.

However, nobody wants to pay a fee, so marketplace has effectively taken over from CL on the cheap old car front.

Yep, that seller was suggested in my YT feed a while back, he has some nice material, FL has to be the Klondike for stuff like that. Ones I recall I liked were this (I like the remark about FL and the vinyl quarter top I've never seen before):

This actually looks good for a conversion, I kind of like it:

And this thing, really base - no passenger mirror, cloth interior, disc hubcaps:

Based on recent ridiculousness, I’d say that GTI has to go for at least $75k and the GLH for $100k.

    It's alive!

The bright yellow thing in the sky came out again, I had to take advantage of dry-ish roads. Last drove it 36 days ago. Started on the first turn of the key like it had been idle for a few hours. Turn signals worked 0% of the time, and I notice I set the idle speed a little low the last time I tinkered with it, but it ran fine. A guy at the gas station had to chat about it when I topped off the tank, and it got a few looks.

I have a suspicion, with little data to back it up, that it has to do with whatever exists at the base of the stalk. However, I am afraid to tackle it myself, as I suspect I won't be able to put it back together, and might damage something.

The base of the stalk has a hard rubber cover that I am afraid I'd damage when attempting to remove, and it is probably either $500 or unobtanium today. An hour of labor to my indy to get it fixed would be well worth it.
