Residuals tend to go down as the model year goes on.

Subaru is selling every car they can build ... not sure if they are too worried about the new CR-V.

If they are returning the lease, there is no equity. If the trade it in, there could be.

No difference with option packages - assuming CVT, the 36/12 numbers are 64% and .00060.

What is the adjusted cap cost? The up front monies are not enough to cover the taxes and fees that are due.

I used this forum to learn to calculate exact lease payments but my numbers are off from what both local dealerships - and way off from one of the highest volume dealerships in the country in upstate NY - are quoting me. One of the dealerships would give her what amounts to $969 in lease equity for her current Forester.

2017 Premium w/ All-Weather Package
42 months/12k miles
MSRP: $27,807
Negotiated price: $26,385
Down payment: $969 equity + $500 out of pocket = $1,469
Residual: .62
MF: .00095
Tax: 8%

I came up with $240.63. Even if I added in the $595 acquisition fee and $177.50 DMV fees that'd only be $259.02 (I'm not sure if those last two fees are taxable.)

My lowest quote from a dealer was $284.48.

Ask the dealer what the adjusted cap cost is - that should explain the difference in the payments.

BTW, with those numbers, I get $280/mo with tax included.

This calculator came up with the same (a penny off from rounding.) Any idea where I'm going wrong? Should the the acquisition/DMW fees be added to cap cost figure in all of the calculations?
