The dealer math is correct.

I would recommend rolling the sales tax into the cap cost - the payment will go up about $28/mo, but you won't lose the sales tax paid upfront if the car is stolen or totaled. You are getting almost 7% off sticker, which is pretty strong for a Subaru.

I got a quote for a vehicle online and the dealer only listed the stock #20457 for a 2017 Subaru 2.5i Premium. I want to know if this vehicle includes the options I asked for.

That sounds like a dealer's internal stock number. I doubt you can use it for anything.

But, you might check their website, to see if they list new inventory, and if it matches up with what they have.
Asking for the MSRP might help, as well.

I would like to factory order it from Subaru, so it has the exact accessories installed that I want. I'm being told by dealers that they cannot guarantee a monthly payment because the residual and interest rate could be different 6-8 weeks from the time it is ordered.

Is this true? How often do residuals and interest rates change? And when they change, how much do they change? Is there a way to estimate a monthly payment on a vehicle that is 6-8 weeks out?

12k mi/year, 36 mo lease.

I agree with the MF and the residual.
That looks like a big discount, too.

I get $353/mo.+tax, assuming all other costs are paid upfront.

Thanks again. I'm having trouble with my local dealerships. I've been able to negotiate a purchase price that's in the ballpark of Edmund's True Price with a couple dealerships, but when I then say I want to lease the car they give me lease quotes utilizing the MSRP.

For example, I negotiated a 2017 2.5i Prem w/CVT, AWP+Eyesight+BSD/RCTA+Fog down to $27,350 (MSRP $29,015 incl. $875 destination), so with the taxes rolled in on a 12k/36mo lease the payments should be $296 after NYS 8.875% tax, right? But the dealers quote $347/mo, which is based off the MSRP. When I mention that, they give me the run around*. Any insight into how one is supposed to negotiate a price and then get that price as it translates to a lease?

Negotiating tactics aside, does $27,350 or $296/mo sound like a solid deal or am I leaving too much on the table?

*Edit: Just got a reply from a sale manager stating he's having trouble reaching my numbers, and asked if I'm going through Subaru Finance or a credit union. Michaell, you stated that Subaru's numbers are national, so I'm assuming they're through Subaru Finance, yes?

There are often incentives that are applicable to a purchase that don't qualify for leases; perhaps that is the disconnect.

But, you are doing the right thing by negotiating the price. Just be up front with the fact that you are leasing.

Subaru Motor Finance lease numbers are indeed national.

You have to use the MSRP to calculate the residual amount. So, it's always going to be a part of the equation.

Right, but they're quoting the lease's monthly payments based on the MSRP, not the net cap cost after I've negotiated a price. I guess I erred in not telling them I was interested in leasing from the get go, like Michaell suggested.

Thanks to this forum I am shopping for a XT Premium, instead of a 2016 Honda CRV LX AWD. At 66% residual and .00035MF I can afford so much more car (way better AWD and power). Now just hoping/trying to get the Net Cap Cost down to $28k.

I recently heard an ad for the Car Leasing App "Honcker" on the radio. I decided to download it and upon opening it I saw a "Special" for a 2017 Forester Premium with Manual Transmission. For a 36/12k lease they were offering $170 (taxes included!) and a drive off of about $556. They even deliver the car to your house. Of course, I clicked yes only to get a message that the car was not available anymore. In fact there are no Subarus on the app anymore. Thoughts? Do you think this car ever existed or was it a ploy to get my information? They had a couple others at around $202 and $217 which are still great deals. I'm wondering if everything is on the up and up.

Got a 17 XT Premium with package 16, MSRP 31020, down to a Net Cap Cost of $28,250. They acknowledged the Residual on 36/10K lease is 66% but insisted the system shows MF of .00085 instead of .00035.

Has it changed? Or am I getting screwed? Thanks.

Maximum dealer markup to the money factor is .00050.

What do you think of the Net Cap Cost of $28,250 for that car? It's white which is somehow hard to find in SoCal area. My other choices were 2016 Honda CR-V's as they are discounted to make room for 2017 but their Residual is lower.

My only experience with pricing is reading this discussion. Seems like the XTs are getting substantial discounts now. While the CR-V is nice, you can't get the acceleration you'll get out of the turbo Forester.

I got them to give me the .00035 to make numbers work. $1000 drive off, $240.84 + tax for 36/10K. Picking it up today. Thanks forum.
