Remember, that is only his "asking" price.
If you are at all interested in the car, go in a make an offer; the amount YOU want to pay. (But be ready to buy it if he says yes.)

Noticed today that Hyundai USA Azera site is now live.
This is a clean and well done site. Kudos to Hyundai! Azera should do well here.

Once I enter it, I can't get this well done site to reposition so I can read the right side of the screen. The words and pictures are cut off.
Anyone else have this problem or know how I can fix it here?

Response to: " U.S. Azera Site Live! by delta4"

Thanks for the info. They did a good job with the site but it still lacks details such as available colors. Looking forward to when they get the Azera up on their main site. I tried to get a brochure at a dealership this AM but they were not available yet? The employees seemed excited about the Azera.
  • wigan4wigan4 Member Posts: 23
I'm hoping the Azera will drive some real deals on the Sonata, too.
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
You don't consider up to $3000 in rebates and $5000+ off MSRP to be a real deal? Are you thinking maybe, free? ;)
  • delta4delta4 Member Posts: 138
Strange? I agree. We'll possibly see the color choices available on the site by next week or before the actual launch date. IMO this vehicle will create spill-over sales for Sonata.
  • averigejoeaverigejoe Member Posts: 559
Do you mean Sonatas are available for $8000+ off of MSRP? Or is it $5000 off MSRP including the rebates?
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
    Including rebates.
  • keithlkeithl Member Posts: 106
Ok I saw a press release from earlier this year that made it sound like Hyundai was committed to putting XM in all their new cars. I heard the Sonata was to get it soon, but the Azera does nto mention it, nor do I see abutton for it on the web site pics or the brochure. Seems petty, but that is a show stopper for me. I don't want to ugly the dash with some stick on unit, i want integrated. I am eager to dump my Acura TL for an Azera, but if it does nto have Xm in 06 then i may stick with my TL one more year.
  • fdcapt2fdcapt2 Member Posts: 122
I don't think that your wanting XM/Sirius radio is petty, or wrong. I also would want that in my next car, as well as turn signals on the mirrors, park assist system, and Blue Tooth. None of these upgrades are earth shattering and could probably be put into the Azera now. To offset the cost they could drop the power steering column and power folding mirrors. The amount of times you would move the steering column, and the folding mirrors would make those options useless. That's just my opinion, bit I feel the other upgrades would be the way to go. The turn signals are a definite safety upgrade, as is the park assist. Blue Tooth seems to be what most people are asking for in their new cars, I could take it or leave it. My cell phone is loud enough using the speaker phone. Like I said before, these are just my "wants" to make the Azera something really special, and just be another plus in a good car, maybe making it better. :confuse:

I heard that on November 28th, 2234 Azeras started heading toward America...they may be arrived at next month...
  • gschultz3gschultz3 Member Posts: 134
If previous posts are correct the addition of a third party Navigation system would allow a satelite radio to be added. I like turn signals in the outside rear view mirrors but it is not widely offered by other manufacturers yet. It should be. It is easy and inexpensive to add parking sensors from a third party. Toyota doesn't offer parking sensors on the Avalon but they were added to my new Avalon through Toyota by a third party. I had backup cameras on two previous cars and prefer the cameras over the sensors myself. I've backed into things with the sensors working! A backup camera is available for the Navigation system and it plays DVD's. I would not buy a car without Navigation.

Today while going on the highway I saw an Azera heading the opposite direction. It was in white, definitely not the best color for this car.

I've sat in the Azera and while it is very nice from the inside, the exterior is very plain and anonymous. White is even worse as mostly all cars in my area are in white.

I wish Hyundai had did something a bit cooler with the styling, like the way the 300 is.

Anyway it's still a fine car. My advice on the color - get maroon or black. It looks better that way.
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
I picked up a brochure on the Azera today and noticed some odd things about the features offered. For example:

    * Same standard audio system as on the $11,000 Accent (172-watt, six-speaker MP3), even on the Limited. Maybe the speakers are better at least.
    * No mention of XM radio. The upgrade system is a 315-watt, 10-speaker Infinity 6-disc changer.
    * No mention of navigation as an option.

The SE trim does seem pretty well equipped, with the exception of that wimpy audio system and no floor mats (on a $25k car, c'mon, guys!). At least all the safety stuff including 8 airbags is standard. The Limited package is not that impressive to me. I could live without the 17" wheels (16" on SE), leather, heated front seats (available on SE), electroluminescent gauges, rear sunshade, woodgrain steering wheel (never liked those) and door pulls, and chrome trim on the bumpers. At least the Limited does come with floor mats!

A lot of the neat features are available only as options, e.g. power-folding mirrors, rain-sensing wipers (but I have that on my Elantras--I sense that rain is falling and turn on the wipers), a nice stereo, power adjustable pedals and wheel. But I do like the fact that even the Limited can be had without a moonroof, for those who don't need that feature.

Styling-wise, I really like the rear and side views, but the front is at best inoffensive. At least they changed the grille from that hideous chrome-ringed thing on earlier photos. Now that was hideous.

What is intriguing about the Azera is that with a decent set of rebates, say around $3000 combined, and a reasonable discount you are under $20k for the base SE--that's a lot of car for that kind of money. Of course, it will take awhile for those kinds of rebates and discounts to show up. But I think they will, since right now there would be about a $8000+ difference between a fully-rebated Sonata GLS V6 and the Azera SE--too big a difference for what you get in the Azera, IMO.
  • bwiabwia Member Posts: 2,913
It is believed that the reason the Azera lacks some of the hi-tech gizmos is because Hyundai is planning to launch an upscale luxury sedan (and possibly division) to compete with Lexus and Infiniti.

According to Business Week the success of the Azera will determine if they go forward with this strategy.
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
High-tech gizmos, sure, but... floor mats?

Also, I just noticed that, according to the brochure, there is no "seek" function on the stereo controls on the steering wheel! I thought maybe Hyundai would have learned a lesson from the complaints about the lack of that feature on the '06 Sonata. Guess not. (I notice that the '07 Santa Fe has this feature, at least. Also IMO a far nicer-looking dash than the Azera has.)

:shades: Hey there guys this is Paul from Hyundai of New Rochelle again. I just wanted to let you know that we have officially received our initial Azera allocation. This means that the cars have officially been assigned to our dealerships. The vehicles are still showing to be on the boat or in the water. This means that the cars should still be 3 to 4 weeks away(that's the average time). This is I am hoping correct but at least it's official that the cars are coming. I have two Limited with the Ultimate package and MSRP on them is $30,075 (yes it did brake the 30k mark but oh well). :surprise:

Well so if any of you out there want to buy it no matter what the dealers should know what they are getting color and package wise. This is just the first shipment so we'll see what else comes. Hope this was helpfull. :)
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
That is quite a milestone--the first $30k Hyundai in the U.S.!
  • folklifefolklife Member Posts: 2
Hey Paul. THE AZERA sounds great but I'm torn between the LX sonata or the Limited Azera. I can wait a month (if necessary) and I like the gold exsterior with beige interior leather.

Do you always sell these guys at MSRP or perhaps a littlemovr invoice price? Let me know.
Can you lease it 36 Mo below MSRP for under $300/mo?

    Hey Dudest!

Tell me, does the Azera come with black leather?
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
The brochure for the U.S. shows black leather. Also tan and grey--all in the Limited of course. Black leather is available in powder white pearl, bright silver, steel gray, venetian blue, ebony black (is that like saying "black black"?), and sage green.

Azera not in Hawaii yet. Is it out on the road in other states? Which state?
    Aloha,

  • dudestdudest Member Posts: 19
Hey guys to answer your questions, as backy said it all three leather interiors are available based on the exterior color. As far as what I expect the vehicles to go for well, given the fact that all the dealerships on the tri-state area (NY,CT,NJ) are over loaded with XG350's I doubt that any of us are going to discount the vehicles for the first couple of months. I also do not expect the Azera to get any kind of incentive (including leasing) for at least 3 months. If you are shopping price wise the Sonata LX makes a lot more sense since there are genorous incentives (for Hyundai) and since most of us have a pretty large inventories on V6 Sonata's. Not that I wish to start a discussion about price and who makes what on the cars but the Azera at MSRP is a much better deal than any other car out there on the market that might have thousands of dollars of discounts. I will tell you one thing that did surprise me, the mark up on the Azera's MSRP vs Invoice has been reduce by about 15%. This is bad news for us dealers and probably true as well for those buyers that must have 'thousands' discounted from the price of the car. But again I would have to start talking about price but I did get the invoices on the cars today, which means that they will be soon available here at edmunds.com. :)

"Azera not in Hawaii yet. Is it out on the road in other states? Which state?"

Lol, I live in Kuwait, not the US.
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
There is already a $1000 loyalty rebate on the Azera, plus a $299/mo. lease offer on the Limited, which seems like a good rate for such a loaded car. (Sonata GLS 4-cylinder is $189/mo. lease.)

i own 3 hyundai's and an avalon and i think i'm going to keep it that way. i almost feel sorry for my dealership. the sales staff is great but the info they get to work with sucks. the southeast regional manager has been showing the car to them in secret for months and pointing to delivery dates that are always "real soon"

i even wrote the ceo last august about owning three and wanting a fourth and got a real "i don't need you response"
from his administrator. where the cockiness comes from is beyond me.

the dealership called me today to say they just got invoiced for 1 (one) azera. no idea about the color or package but they should see it soon. i was also told that they will have a 1k owners loyalty coupon and a $299 27 month lease with 2925 due at signing with some dealer marketing support thrown in and nothing else for buying incentives.

the sonata looks more tempting but the 2001 that i own is not worth much on trade in. cost of ownership sucks on hyundais. they start replacing stuff 40% into the life of their products. makes ownership a cheap purchase but loser on the sale. my avalon looked the same for 6-7 years which protects me. they will start talking up the two year away elantra while they sell you the current model. these guys are nuts.

any thoughts on the ne lucerne from buick? :(
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
The new Lucerne is a nice car inside and outside. The styling is a bit plain but classy and inoffensive and the interior is good as well. It offers some nice features like Magnetic Ride, Harman Kardon sound system and 275hp V8. The handling is much improved over the Lesabre/Park Avenue.

    Read some reviews.

Thanks Backy! That's what I was looking for.

Tell me, does that Venetian Blue look like a medium blue/silver, light blue or dark blue?
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
Well, on the little circle in the brochure it looks like dark blue to me. It's a pretty dark palette on the Azera--fitting for its status I guess. The only light colors are white (the powder white pearl thank goodness, not plain white) and silver. Golden beige is fairly light too I guess. No red. :(

If you noticed lately sat radio, navigation and even backup cameras are finding their way down to Nissans, Toyotas, Buicks, Hondas ............

I'm a bit surprised to find that people have seen the Azera and picked up brochures. Our dealership here in PA--a fairly large volume one said that they wouldn't arrive until late December... The materials said November (aka Fall 2005)...
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
Well, the brochures are at dealerships... the cars aren't.
  • meliasmelias Member Posts: 3
    Hi gang!

I should start by saying I photograph and write about cars for several magazines and newspapers on a freelance basis.

I too am impressed with the new Azera, and yes it needs a few tweaks to put it right up there in Avalon territory. But wait until next year! As for resale value, eventually they will improve in that category (with products like the Azera and the Sonata, as well as what is in the pipeline, they can only go up.)

Remember WAY WAY Back when Toyota and Honda first came to these shores? They basically had no resale either, but then they got it, and realized that if they were to continue in this market, things would have to change pronto. From the cars that I see at press previews, Hyundai has learned this lesson as well. It may not be this year, heck, it may not be next year either, that they begin to realize greater residual value, but they do know that it is of the utmost importance if they wish to do business here.

As for the Lucerne, it is a VAST improvement over what it replaces. It has plenty of power, nice looks, good build quality, but they could have hit a home run if they lowered the age of the target market by offering sportier handling, an "autostick" transmission, and more firm ride than what is offered in the highline model. Bold direction like this has helped to bring the spark back to the Cadillac Division, and they are to be applauded for great products. Buick needs to shed some of the corporate timidity that exists within the division. In other words, they should be following the mantra of "Make no small gestures."

    Backy:

I obtained my own brochure today and that venetian blue is really a midnight blue!

As Mark mentioned above, I think Hyundai is making a great play with the Azera. I'll be interested to feel the way it drives. The only thing I think is missing are cooled seats, NAV and a remote start.
  • averigejoeaverigejoe Member Posts: 559
No, the Lucerne is a big luxo-boat. Not intended for younger buyers. And younger ones don't want the Lucerne with stiffer suspension and autostick.
The LaCrosse fits that bill better.
Young people don't want a big car like Lucerne. Or Azera for that matter.
Don't believe me? Just go ask a bunch of young people. I did.
Oh yeah, I know, Cadillacs are cool. But that's because you can get 400 hp and a 6-speed in an edgy package. And it is a lot smaller than the Lucerne too. But younger people rarely have the $$ for a CTS V.
  • meliasmelias Member Posts: 3
Of course younger people don't want the Lucerne...btw, I am talking about a target market of 46 and above. The target they aimed for appears to be the guy who (still) spends his days in loud pants at the country club. But perhaps if they aimed for the younger partner of a law firm, who has an open mind as far as new products, foreign and domestic, they might be closer to the mark of where they need to be. As it stands now, the current customers aren't getting younger.

All the idiots are talking on their damn cell phones.

Sheesh I hate the SUV ce3ll phone people who aren't even aware of who and what's around them.

You see a SUV not using dir signals - they're on thier cell phones.

Fitzmall.com has one Azera (Limited trim, steel grey). Their internet price is about $300 below MSRP.
  • averigejoeaverigejoe Member Posts: 559
Same idea applies. The young partner with a Buick Lucerne sized budget probably does not want a car that big either. He'd be better off looking at the LaCrosse too if he wants an American car.

There is another forum which compares the Azera to the Buicks. Click here http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.efd3ad7/10

Note the numbers there: both Buicks are a lot pricier than the Azera.
  • bluesman3bluesman3 Member Posts: 202
I think Hyundai has built a better Buick than Toyota! Why would anyone want to buy a Buick when you can't beat the value of the Azera or even the Avalon for that matter?
  • iluvmysephia1iluvmysephia1 Member Posts: 7,709
on their cell phone is really important, too!

Know what I mean? I don't think people should be able to talk on them while driving at all...people drive bad enough to not have something else distracting them.

    Averijoe,

Actually I never intended to bring in the Buick to the Hyundai forum, but was trying to answer one of the other posters who stated he owned 3 Hyundais and an Avalon. Apples and Oranges. I was just starting my comments by saying that for a Buick it was an impressive change in target demographics.

Now for the youngblood that doesn't have the scratch, nor the desire for something as big as the Lucerne, yes, you're right...He can go and buy that Tauru...uh, er Lacrosse.

And with the $1000 loyalty rebate that's under $25k. Compared to the lowest-priced Avalon with leather, the Touring with VSC and heated seats, that's about $4000-5000 difference ($5000 for Hyundai owners). Thtt should entice some shoppers to take a look at the Azera.

After waiting for WAY to long, I decided on another car, with lots more for the money. I bought a '06 Passat, 3.6. It cost about $3000 more then the Azera, but has so many more features above and beyond the Azera. I really got tired of hearing all kinds of stories from the Hyundai people about why the car is late, and no 2 people had the same story. I spent plenty of time at Hyundai dealers listening to all the crap about how they would keep me informed on the Azera. I was promised phone calls from over 10 salesmen who promised they would call me as soon as any news was available, or they would send me a brochure as soon as they got them. Only one dealer, Atlantic Hyundai here on Long Island had the decency to at least contact me by email. The rest, especially the Hyundai dealer in Hempstead, Long Island, were all a bunch of losers. This has to be the worst car dealer I've ever dealt with. Very rude, and uncaring about trying to help you. I've been a car person since I was 12 years old, and that's a LONG time ago. I've been into hundreds of dealers, and seen hundreds of salesmen, but working with the Hempstead group was not a happy time. I hope the rest of you that have been waiting for the Azera, find that your wait was well worth it. I wish that the car makes you all happy, and that you have nothing but happy miles, with lots of good times. Enjoy your new cars, and have a Merry Christmas. Capt.... :D

    Congratulations on your purchase.

The Passat is a fine vehicle. I sat in one during the recent Autoshow and the materials were of the highest quality, the layout was pleasing and the leather was soft and the instruments were nice to look at. My only complaint was that the rearseat was small, smaller than the 300, Avalon or Azera.

Sorry about the treatment of Hyundai dealers. You would think they would treat you well and keep you informed so you could buy their product....... The Azera is a nice car but they shouldnt make you wait so long, it's nothing special except for the low price.

    Anyway happy motoring. :)

    Anyway happy motorinh

    Very interesting.
How about posting those many more features the Passat has over at the other board:
