Yup, that's what it is, and I do see some others there. I had never seen one. Good eye, Fin.

The Country Squire is a 9 Passenger because it has the sliding glass window.

I'm stumped on one. If you look between the Olds and the Country Squire, behind the fence is a small white wagon. The front end is reminiscent of a Triumph TR-3, but what is it?

It doesn't look anything like a TR-3 to me, it just has a generic 50s Euro sedan look, so do the other cars in that row but I can't place any of them and I'm usually able to.

Straight on, I saw a family resemblance about the grill and headlights. Different eyes see different details, I guess.

Yes they could be Hillman Minxes which were popular in the US briefly in the late50s.

Yup, it's a Paseo convertible which I'd forgotten they made in a topless version, it's a 1997 MY.

I saw its twin last year - a second gen Paseo convertible has to be a rare car:

I've lost the ability to post pics using Safari or Firefox bowsers. Fortunately it still works on Chrome. C'mon Edmund's tech, can't you get your software to be compatible with popular browsers?!

Definitely an Audi. Not a shape I recall seeing before. Some early 70s 100 variant?

That's right. it's an early version of the Lancia Aurelia berline ca. 1950. it's pillarless four-door suicide doors were just one of the many standout features for this car which sported the world's first production V6 as well as IRS and other advanced features.

That Triumph Estate car would have been a Standard Ten Companion over here but I gather Standard wasn't an overseas brand - just sold in UK the then Commonwealth I guess

Sorry I haven't been around for a while but a few medical issues - mostly now resolved.

That's right, I think the Triumph "Estate Wagon" was a NA-only model name.

There's an Italian car show here every year, I wonder if an Aurelia shows up. Mostly it's much more modern stuff, unfortunately. But a few '60s, more '70s.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
I've been to a lot of car shows but I've never seen an Aurelia, Lancias of any kind are rarely seen.

They are pretty rare these days. When I sit in one, they remind me of a down-sized, modernized American car of the late 40s---very solid build, very conservative interior, rich cloth upholstery, sparkling chrome knobs and bezels. So on top of that quality, you get a very lively V-6 that is serious fun to drive. Pretty sure the sedans had a column shift, but I think you can convert them.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yup, it's on the tree and IIRC it had five speeds(one of the first on a production car)>

There's no big transmission hum because the transaxle was rear mounted.

I drove an Alfa Berlina with 5 on the tree---it took some getting used to. I don't recall the shift pattern, though.
  • berriberri Member Posts: 10,165
I'm guessing that had three gates instead of two to go though. Grind a few gears ;)
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
No doubt. I'm trying to remember if first gear was up towards you and then down, or if it was toward the dash and then UP? ???

He probably knows how to drive a 1950 Aurelia, although I think the car is way too hip for him.

You're close it's a 1965 MY. This one has the mighty 426 "Wedge" motor.

Kudos to the Edmund's Tech team for restoring the ability to post jpegs.

I posted the brown Porsche beause I thought the color was interesting, albeit very period.
That's a 1967 Porsche 911T from back when 911s were real sports cars. Today's 911s are quite abit larger and heavier. Those interested in real sports cars look at Boxsters and Caymans.

The 60's and 70's may have been our generation's heyday for green or brown cars. Browns made a brief resurgence in the 80's and show up every once in awhile today. Personally, I like dark, rich brown hues and greens like British Racing Green best for those colors. Mostly, I wish today buyers had a broader palette of color selections whatever they prefer.

My '72 Duster was green with a white (painted) top, kind of like this:

Mine? No, a slant 6 with a 3 on the floor. But the hood scoops added 20 mph!

Lead car is a Hillman Minx probably 1959-60. Across the street I will pick off a light blue 66 Galaxie 4 door post with a Fiat 1100 in front of it.

Maybe late 50's cream colored Imperial several behind the 66 Ford

Some don't like prewar pics, I will just say there's an awful lot of Mopar in that shot, must be from the "Dodge Plymouth" location at left. I suspect the fancy mansion is long gone.
